I love that he is playing, but the earlier spoiler makes it kind of a non-announcement. Feels like we still have a lot of those ahead of us, while not spoiled per se, more than likely I would expect these bands to be playing and would feel unexcited by the announcement (not because I am not happy they are playing, but because it is kind of baked in to expectations:)
boygenius
Rhiannon Giddens new band
Better Oblivion Community Center
Sharon Van Etten (Actually had to check to see if she was already announced.)
Would say that Robert Ellis and MLV are less sure things but would be no surprise if they were announced.
That being said I am feeling less confident about some of the very likely names that we all selected in Bingo such as Hozier and Phosphorescent.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up with boygenius or BOCC. While they both make perfect sense, I can’t image Phoebe pulling double duty and playing in both bands. Not to mention, neither currently have plans to be touring come late July. Haven’t heard much about boygenius since their short tour last fall. Are either playing any other summer feats yet this year?
Kind of meh on the last 2 weeks of announcements. Hopefully we get something interesting next Tuesday
Speak for yourself! I love Maggie Rogers and Lake Street Dive so obviously I'm happy there. Rayland Baxter has been on my radar for a while but I haven't seen him live yet (besides him playing with The Head and the Heart at Newport a couple years ago). I had never heard of J.S. Ondara before last week but he is already on my must-see list for this year!

Maggie’s solid, but I don’t get much out of Lake Street Dive anymore, and JS, Ruston, and Rayland are all easily skippable for me
I have 1 Friday ticket for sale, face value. 99.70 I figure no one here will want one single one day ticket but figured I’d check here first in case I’m wrong before I throw it into Lyte.

"easily skippable" is a good descriptor for the majority of the lineup so far.

I actually like a good amount of it
Phil, Kacey, Haley Heynderickx, Mountain Man, Courtney Marie Andrews, Liz Cooper, and Maggie Rogers are all varying degrees of exciting for me. I haven’t seen Lukas Nelson (other than w/ Neil) and was bummed to miss him last year so I’m looking forward to that.
Then there are a good bunch of others I’m I’m interested in seeing like Bonny Light Horseman, Isakov, Tweedy, Billy Strings & Molly Tuttle, and the Nude Party

Juggs only seems to pop on here now to tell others why they're wrong or that they shouldn't be excited for some lineup/act. If he does get interested/excited about anything it doesn't really get expressed on here.
I'm excited for this lineup. This festival always exceeds expectations for me.
Kacey is one of my favorite artists and I have not seen her live as much as I would like. Maggie put out one of my most listened to albums of the year so far. I’ve been digging Ruston since someone on the board recommended him (maybe in the beginning of this thread). Billy Strings is one of my favorite pickers.
After that though... it’s a bunch of “that could be good, but I’m not necessarily excited.” To be fair, Liz Cooper wowed me in a tiny club the other week; but I’m not entirely sure how her stuff will translate to an outdoor setting.
So, there’s a solid foundation for this to be one of my favorite lineups. But if they keep retreading singer-songwriters who have played before, and don’t venture into exciting indie-folk acts (both new and old), I could be underwhelmed when all is said and done.

Newport Festivals Foundation has made a donation on behalf of Devon to Give A Note Foundation to support their efforts to acknowledge and reward the impactful work of music teachers across the country in the form of funds granted directly to public school K-12 music classrooms.
after a morning of binging on National, both new and old, i've decided they are top of my list of desired this year. Add The Nat to the current lineup and I wouldn't need anymore and I might even stop complaining.
Willing to wager money that we get some incorporation of the Outlaw festival into the Friday lineup, and our headliners are Willie Nelson The National If I Had a Song

Dawes > Kacey > Willie on the Fort
Lukas > Old Crow > Phil on the Quad
Would love The National but they're still in Europe all summer, so I'm not getting my hopes up
Don't know a lot of these names but I'm really hoping Julia Jacklin's back. And would love Steve Gunn. I used to be into Half Moon Run, didn't realize they were still around.
then obviously Pete Seeger's 100th b-day, which has been mentioned around here
