Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Sorry, I just hate anything resembling the “it’s not about the lineup, it’s about the vibes maaaan” mantra that people use for Bonnaroo. It’s a way of silencing any criticism about the event, even the valid ones.
Calling people names on a forum is a way of silencing people. Dufus? Seriously. Are you 12? You come on here insulting, name calling and picking fights every year. Are you ok? I get it. Someone screwed you over in life. You don't have to shit on everybody and everything you disagree with. Its a bloody music forum for christ sake.

Wait do you really think doofus is a serious insult? I don’t even know where to start lol
What’s funny is I haven’t commented on the quality of the festival which I actually think is very good this year I just don’t mind if other people don’t feel the same way as me
Criticizing a festival lineup is not the same as criticizing the total experience I'll have at the festival.
No one would have an issue with one of us complaining about someone in the crowd talking through a whole set. A boring announcement has a similar effect on my experience.
I like Parker Millsap though. Definitely an overdue booking

Yeah. Its something a kid would say. Or the President. Are either of them great role models? I know you're capable of worse. I've seen you in action on here with other people plenty of times. I'm from across the pond. Anything you've said is amateur where I come from. But is it necessary?

You literally told me I must’ve been hurt by someone because I told someone to let other people have their own feelings about a music festival. Your anger over an assertion of freedom of opinion is strange, do you like group-think so much that you’re willing to lose all rational thought over it?

NFF ain’t cheap. At least not for me, particularly when you factor in travel and lodging. I have no doubt that if I walked around the fest for a day, I’d be impressed and happy with the music going on, regardless of where I was standing. But that doesn’t mean it’s worthwhile as an investment and outing for someone that can’t afford many extravagances. This is one of the reasons why I really didn’t like the “surprise” booking last year. I ended up selling my ticket on Lyte and I was glad I did cause I have no interest in seeing Mumford (al though I have nothing against them). No regrets. I’m pretty excited about the line up this year but I still think people have a legitimate right to be disappointed.

Very cool dude. Care to share some of the edgy swear words you learned at a bus stop? Or do we have to subscribe to your Patreon?

Nope Katy. Anytime i see you post here I think, oh boy. Who is she going to start yelling at or insulting now. My turn I guess. I've honestly felt bad for you. I thought, she must have had a lot of bad crap in her life to always react that way. Go read what I wrote. I basically said that its fine that people compain, and it fine if people are stocked about it. I try to encourage, to be optimistic and love the festival. You even hear yourself? You're attacking and name calling people for being positive.

You could, just, you know, scroll past her posts and ignore it - instead of continuing to engage. The Internet, wherever you go, is a test of patience and willpower.
Just let it go and move on - this goes for you too Katy.

I haven't called anyone names, you're the one who thinks doofus is anything other than a sarcastic light hearted rib.
I'm excited for Saturday, I was at the original Dawes and Friends show with ilovethisgame and it was the best Newport experience I've ever had. My funniest memory is when they said "we just found out a legend died today so we're gonna play some of his songs for you", and they went into "After Midnight", and the people around me thought Eric Clapton had died. After the song they finally said JJ Cale by name and I heard a sigh of relief from behind me.

Everyone take a chill pill. We're all here for this awesome festival. Some names aren't as well known to us but the festival always delivers and has led me to discover some of my favorites (who I didn't know when they were added to the lineup). This year will be no exception.

Dude. Back the fuck off. What is your deal?
Whats your problem? Everyone has reasons the way they act. Every year shes fighting with someone. I honestly did feel bad for her until she turned on me.

I honestly don't think you can tell the difference between two adults having a disagreement in the comments section of a forum, and "fighting". With that I'm done responding to anything you say, wouldn't want to make you feel bad for me again.

Yeah see my issues with the lineup are less the names I've been unfamiliar with and more the ones I am familiar with and find to be the kind of boring white bread artists that almost killed this festival in the past
I just remembered the 2013 after shows at the Jane Pickens were titled "Dawes and Friends" and featured Isbell, Misty, Old Crow, Jim James and Blake Mills. There are a few things that stick out from those shows:
1. Blake Mills and Dawes playing "After Midnight" the night JJ Cale died.
2. Father John Misty played (maybe debuted?) "The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apartment" and blew everyone's mind.
3. Jim James, Dawes, Blake Mills, and Misty on Tambourine closing out with "Lean on Me."
Sorry if that was already pointed out. I think those were two of the best Pickens shows ever. I'm guessing Dawes will play their album straight through at the fest but maybe we'll get some magic like that night.
I was there and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.... but Friday Pickens last year was one for the ages
I agree, last year's Cook Brothers event on Friday night was probably the BEST Pickens show. Full of crazy talent from beginning to end.
I really like the format of "and friends" where there is a band serving as an MC and bringing on/trading off artists for a 3-4 song stretches. IMHO, they should keep it loose and have Dawes/Shovels and Rope/Milk Carton Kids/Cook Brothers/etc handle those shows. The shows that had more a rigid structure seemed to be the less exciting ones.
It's a shame the Sunday night shows at the Pickens seem to have fizzled out. I imagine there are people who would enjoy hearing more music, are hanging around town for another night, and don't want to participate in the Blues Cafe craziness.

Fair point. Then I'd say cross your fingers and hope the schedule works out for you lol. Maybe the acts you want to see will be up against some of the ones who don't tickle your fancy.
In the past i've even had acts I was familiar with but not excited for end up blowing me away (Glenn Hansard, Hozier, etc.). Hopefully everyone who's not as excited about some of the names experience this this year.

100% this - and one of the best things about the Newport Folk Festival is discovering new, up-and-coming talent. For example, one of my most anticipated sets for Friday this year is Yola. I hadn't heard of her prior to her being announced, but good lord, her voice is absolutely beautiful and her band seems pretty tight!

When I started going, the Deer Tick shows at the blues cafe were tough to beat. But since they started doing the other venues I've fallen in love with the Pickens theater. Milk Carton Kids a few years ago was fantastic and loaded with guests and the Father John Misty show is one I'll never forget. I just wish it was easier to get tickets for them.
Plus, it's nice having a seat and not being squished by a bunch of people after a long day of music.
Dammit. I wanted to stay off here but its an addictive hobby for me. I don't know Katy. I'm sure she's good people. I don't react well to name calling even if they're harmless enough ones. I was out of order implying reasons she was doing so. None of my business. For that i'm sorry. I failed completely at keeping it positive which ironically i was trying to do. To the guy who wanted a list of Uk/Irish insults, heres one. I was a complete gobshite

Good to see ya back. You bring some good info here, especially the classic nff stuff.

Everyone gets heated at times. Katy (like most of us here) gets into it with people from time to time but it's mostly out of passion. Having attended multiple Newport Folk Fest's with her I can tell you she's a big fan of the festival and music that they put out. Girl's got Woody Guthrie ink on her skin. Sometimes it's tough to read tone and how serious someone is being online and we've all been there.
And one thing I would say about people who may be feeling let down by some of these names.....it could be that we've become so spoiled with how awesome the lineups have been the last few years. There's still lots of wow factor on this year for me (Can't believe we're getting Phil and Trey! Finally getting to see Todd Sniderat the fort excites me) but not everyone can win every year, I guess.
