Cool! I don’t know her music, but Pitchfork seems to really like her. So that’s a good booking in my opinion (eg., artist on the rise).
Edit: Also... I can tell why. Holy hell. This might be my Phoebe Bridgers this year (last year, I discovered Phoebe when she was announced. And she quickly became one of my favorite artists. My 2018 most streamed artist. And one of my favorite sets of the weekend.)

Didn’t someone rule them out already for some reason? I’d love to see them at Newport. Hope that’s not two years in a row where their tour takes them through Boston around the time of the fest but not to the fest itself.
I just crushed through an album and a half of Nilufer Yanya’s music, and she might be my favorite announced artist to date. (Okay... she doesn’t quite beat Dawes and Friends).
That Saturday may be rough for me (whereas Sunday I may just lounge in a chair all day).
Newport Festivals Foundation has made a donation on behalf of Nilüfer to Buffalo String Works. Funds will be used towards supporting their brand new double bass program. By adding another bass to their instrument library, we will be able to open up a spot to a new student to join their vibrant, inclusive student body of refugee and immigrant children.
Excited about this one! And also really hoping it means we'll get Sharon Van Etten announced soon too
Got to talk to Robert Ellis for a bit after the show last night. He said he was wouldn’t be playing Newport this year. Maybe he’s just being coy but he sounded pretty sincere. Great show though.

XPN fest announced the rest of their lineup. I think we could reasonably expect Caroline Rose and Lucy Dacus to join the Newport lineup. Additionally, St. Paul and the Broken Bones are still open on Friday. I'd love to see Elvis on Sunday, but that seems unlikely

Why is that unlikely? He has the Sunday open and no shows after that for a couple days.

I think him showing up could be likely as part of the Pete set or something like the Basement Tapes, but an Elvis Costello and the Imposters set may not be as likely given that the Pete set is closing out and he just had the pre-headlining slot a few years back. That being said, I hope I'm wrong because he is one of my all-time faves.
This was fantastic last night. Phoebe killed the Gaga part. Really hope they are added to the lineup.
Did they say anything about coming back at their Providence show?
Also, I’d have expected to see them on the XPNFest lineup if they were in play (they’re the perfect XPN artist). That said, Newport does have magic on its side.

I meant to ask him the same thing, but forgot. What a fun show! I will still hold out hope that he shows up in RI to hang out. I think he’s pretty connected to the Deer Tick guys, so maybe...

There was a gentleman there last year ? who happened to look just like EC, wearing a red neck scarf (recent throat surgery as i recall), with creds that said Heritage or some such thing and the name was Edward Cousins or similar. Quacker gave me the nudge to look who we were standing next to at Harbor stage. It was a challenge not to fan-girl over 'Mr Cousins' but kept it to a smile then back to the music. We got a kick out of the creds.
