Think it’ll be a solo acoustic Trey set? (It’s not billed as a TAB set).
Any chance it’ll be his new project Ghosts of the Forest? Or would they have billed it as such if so?
I ask because I actually really like the first single off of the new band’s debut album. In some ways it’s a nice mashup of typical Trey and indie rock.
Absolutely Trey solo, it’s not billed as a TAB set and from what I understand, the Ghosts of the Forest shows are one-offs. I’m going Wednesday to the Boston show so hopefully some tunes that I like can be translated on acoustic (think Kasvot Vaxt tunes during Trey’s winter tour.) I think you can hear the whole show on live Phish app right now.
Also heard from some buddies who went to the first show yesterday that the songs are very personal and have some great meaning, though it’s nothing quite like Phish.

Part of what I like about it so far. Don’t get me wrong, I -like- Phish (enjoy the music on occassion). But this first single reminds me more of Trey’s Oysterhead days, and I loved Oysterhead.
So I’m making a Record Store Day list for next weekend.
1) I didn’t miss a release from Newport this year did I? I thought I recall a post or something where Newport was talking about remastering the Change is Gonna Come set. What I would do to have a physical recording of that Chris Thile / Jon Batiste jam.
2) Because I trust your musical tastes more than most, what are you all excited about?

It’ll most likely be Trey solo on the acoustic. Check out some of the renditions from the December 2018 tour - he’s come a long way and now occasionally uses looping effects to record a rhythm guitar and solos over it
The new band he’s put together, Ghosts of the Forest, is quite good from what I’ve heard so far. I’d argue his new song, Drift While You’re Sleeping, is one of the better songs he’s written in a few years. Their sound reminds me of Trey doing his own version of the Jerry Garcia Band - highly personal, gospel backup singers, and very soulful music!

Digging through the list for the first real time now and jotting down what stands out:
1) Aretha Franklin - The Atlantic Singles 1967 2) Joe Strummer - The Rockfield Studio Tracks 3) Sugar Hill Records 40th Anniversary Box Set (If my bank account allows it) 4) In The Garage: Live Music from WTF with Marc Maron (If only for that version of "Elephant" by Jason Isbell 5) Link Wray - "Vernon's Diamond"/"My Brother, My Son"
I'm sure I missed a few, but if I got half of those on Saturday I'd be happy with my haul.

Thanks for the recommendations. I’ll check some of these out.
Heading into today my only must-purchase is Louis Armstrong - Satchmo Plays Disney.
Newport Festivals Foundation has made a donation on behalf of Our Native Daughters to Kidznotes. Kidznotes engages students pre-K through 12th grade in an intense out-of-school musical program. With NFF's donation, Kidznotes will be able to provide a high-quality student-sized double bass for shared use by multiple students, further fostering their love for music.
Just saw Steve Gunn announced a Portland, ME show on 7/24, got very excited, then saw that he announced a whole Northeast tour right through Newport weekend. God dammit.
Technically could play Friday but that'd be NH > RI > VT on consecutive days
