I do get why theyd be upset that the news leaked out. But that's more on the writers of the articles, right? Like it's not the same as "my uncle works for this band and confirmed them" type of reveal.
But yeah, you probably want that to be a big surprise announcement that blows people away so it sucks to have it get out.
Either way, all will be well when the music starts at the fort.

I think I found the issue.
I found another article that mentioned a “correction” to a previous press release. The correction made the change to “TBD location.” Likely, the info was supposed to be suppressed but accidentally got out.
Just a fair warning that this could just as easily be due to someone dropping out or changing plans as to it being a surprise.

I figure that it's a good time of year to share this. Nice for any first timers to see some 2018 clips. Time's sure flying. It'll be schedule decision time before we know it. I think one of my favorite moments of the year is crossing that huge bridge heading into Newport for an amazing weekend of music. I've a feeling this one won't disappoint. Roll on Newport Folk Festival 2019.

Yeah. In fact, if I correctly understood the comments before they were deleted (I didn’t get a chance to read the posted sources), it’s half an interesting booking and half an absolutely bizarre one that would seem much more worthwhile without being hyped up as a mysterious headliner.

I think more of us are the target market than we expect if we were given the chance to get into the artist’s music. This is one thing I dislike about unannounced acts. Had beaker not pointed this out, I probably wouldn’t have explored the artist’s music... which I’ve now been listening to nonstop over the last 24 hours.
As to the original quote, it’s definitely exciting. I’d argue the merits of such a booking, but I’d start giving away whom it might be. Although, we have no idea what capacity the artists would be serving at Newport. Guests for one song? A set? Just hanging out backstage?

Guessing how big of a get this is for Newport, I’d assume this artist will play a central role to the closing set.

Haha stopping that leak didn't last long. Glad i know though. Not sure why it was expected to be kept a secret if there were meet and greet auctions to happen and it was discussed in an article.
