This is pretty similar to what I had but I don't think they'll book Janelle Monáe after basically ignoring her in all their year end stuff and I think Mitski would sub over Stephen Malkmus.
There's no way Aphex is playing this. If he plays anything other than what's already announced in the States, it'll be solo shows or maaaaaaybe Movement. He's too expensive.
Not saying he's playing P4K but they've booked headliners as big if not bigger than Aphex Twin in recent years.

Are you privy to what Aphex Twin has cost the most recent US fests to have booked him?
He was rumored to be asking $1 million/show. I heard that's what DfN gave him. I wouldn't be surprised if it came down a bit, but I'd be surprised if it came down by too much.

I wouldn't put a lot of faith in that rumor. There is no benefit for the artist or the festival to leak information like that.

It didn't come from the festival or the artist. It came from other festivals offering him and being told that was the price point.
That rumor still might be wrong, which is why I called it a rumor. But he's definitely expensive.

He got around $950k for D4N. They overpaid for the exclusivity but they got plenty of free press out of it.

Not that I necessarily think this makes them significantly more likely, but if I was a publication who booked a reunion band to play my festival, this is probably the sort of article I'd post:
When is this fest supposed to happen? GBV just announced a Toronto show for July 13th, I’d love to catch them at some point this year.
Pitchfork will be the following weekend (July 19-21). They haven't announced the dates yet, but Taste of Chicago is the 10th-14th and they wouldn't overlap.

FJM, Bikini Kill (longshot), Sleater-Kinney again?, Mitski (if she got a huge bump from her AOTY placement) are the best options I can think of that have been active recently, otherwise i'm drawing blanks

Mitski is not going headline Pitchfork. Courtney Barnett has sold out the Riv multiple times and she was still a sub last year. WoD also sold out the Riv (and were bumped up to play the Aragon) and subbed.

That's an outlier. FKA headlining did not move tickets and they haven't booked an act her size to headline since.
