Same. I loved hardcore, which emo was not. None of my kids were into emo or screamo back then and explained to me what scene kids were. Parents can learn too when they listen. Nevertheless, barring something I want to do on Friday after 1am, I may pick up a ticket just for the rarity of it.
I would love to go due to the rarity of it and at the end of the day
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Damn. Tom, Brad, and Tim should go on tour and play songs with this guy. He definitely would have fit better than B-Real and Chuck D.
Haha. I must be the only mfer on Inforoo who loves Chuck D and B Real and the Prophets. But I hear what you’re saying. I’ve only seen Denzel Curry once, and it was wild. Think a Travis Scott show without autotune or all the props. Also, he’s going to rap over some death metal and hardcore punk beats live. It’s super high energy without him coming off as a poseur.
He’s a good rapper (both as himself and alter-ego Zeltron. This is easily a top 6 or so set for me heading into Buku.
And like that FFTL is sold out. We managed to get 2 VIP balcony tickets. They were out of small and large T-shirt vip and still had a couple medium ones but that’s it.

Does anyone know if VIP tickets at Joy Theater grant you access to GA Floor? I bought a GA ticket and my buddy got a VIP so we're trying to see if he'll be able to come down to the floor or if he is stuck on the lower balcony.

Yes. VIP has a seating section only they can get in but floor is always open.

Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy Prophets and their shows. It isn’t the same without Zack, but they are still a lot of fun. I just think Denzel would be awesome with those guys.

Slow day at work so have at me. No I didn't put Death Grips in the Float Den. One issue I have is Excision going past 11 when I feel like the Power Plant stage shuts down then, but having him conflict with NGHTMRE B2B Slander felt wrong. Open to any and all suggestions - this was literally the first Clashfinder I've ever made.
It doesn’t look that far off to me. What makes shit unclear is what they are going to do with the upgrade to Wharf stage. So they may just have a bunch of djs spinning though even with the stripped down stage last year, Young Vul played one of their last shows. And they are a 4 piece and had AF up in the booth. If they make it exclusively djs or maybe have a rapper or two there, then it gets hard to know whether some of the sets that might have been in the Ballroom might be along the river. Princess Nokia did a set there last year too.
Comments on Friday
Power Plant - I think Lana will close the Power Plant. Excision plays Houston later that night. Besides saying he was going to annihilate Buku, he said the sets were 5-6 hours apart. I’m still not 100% on Houston music curfews. So he’s got to fit in Buku and travel time. While it would probably be top 1 Float Den set of all time, I’d say it’s 40% he does an early PM set in there. It’s also possible they don’t close with Lana and put her out like 8-9:15. Buku will sometimes time headliners weird.
Float Den
I don’t really listen to sfam, though they’ve moved away from pop. But I think they play later because of their hometown fans.
Ballroom - ? That’s a good last 3 with Denzel Curry, Kevin Gates and Death Grips. But maybe Rico Nasty to the Wharf and Death Grips 8/9ish?
Wharf - 1788-L I think plays Float Den. Yves Tumor has to be in the ballroom. I think him into Death Grips is a very chaotic back to back possibility. KKB might get main stage early. I like the idea of Claude and Fisher closing the Wharf. That gives the stage some identity. I don’t recall how late Wharf went last year but it was later than 11 I’m pretty sure.
Front Yard
Klutch, Lleuna and Trax Only, I’d put on the Wharf. Iceman Special I think opens Power Plant around door time. That would be consistent with several other years.
Saturday Power Plant
We Came As Romans and Dashboard I think play the Ballroom.
Float Den I like the way you have it. If GRiZ has an after show, he’ll play earlier. $B closed Float last time they played so maybe again or maybe not
Ballroom Papadosio is probably more likely to close than open though they could give them like a 5/6 slot too.
Wharf Id put Mersiv in the Float Den, but if they want some dub on Wharf also, he’ll be there. Oliver Tree could get a random main stage show or Ballroom. Yaeji could be Wharf or Ballroom.
Front Yard Thou is a death sludge band. I think they play ballroom.
Nice job. Chances are you’ll be more right than whatever I disagree with. My take from viewing what you did is all the mandatory partial sets I have coming. There are stages I could spend 85% of either day at and be pretty happy. We’ll see. FWIW, I’m 45 minutes into the new Liquid Stranger. It’s space and hip hop. I think my favorite song so far is the one with MC Shells

Made some changes to it based off of what you said, I forgot about Excision having the Houston show so definitely agree with Lana closing out Power Plant Friday. Shuffled around a couple acts per day in terms of stages/timing too. They've had at least one rapper do a later, 45 minute set in the Float Den the past couple years so even though that could've been my chance to put Death Grips in there, they'll probably have an hour so Gunna seemed to fit better. Figured Papadosio would be good counter-programming to Dog Blood during their set.

They tweeted out to someone on the 13th who asked when the app would be updated with the schedule that it would be out soon. So maybe this week or next?
Somebody on reddit noted that a friend of a friend told him Skrillex would be doing a dj set at Republic after From First to Last. That’s pretty random for how small it is. Deadmau5 did a show there too. It’s like 1000 or less. Haha. Being able to see Sktillex there at like 3 or 4 am would kind of rule and probably worth sitting through all the emo to see.
I’m still waiting to see what else they are coming out with late. Seems like a GRiZ show in there somewhere, some house and some rap. I do want to go to Lords of Acid and Genitorturers on Thursday if at all possible. I’m late to the game on both (and Orgy), but that’s got to be one of the most chaotic shows that weekend.
2/20/19 11:00am Edit - Gud Vibrations is about to sell out per tweet if anyone wants to grab a last minute ticket. That means we should get an announcement of that selling out soon along with the Saturday Republic late show tomorrow or Friday. Then we should get drips of information like food vendors, schedule and what not. 30 days to go/4 weeks from Friday

That Lana / Denzel Curry clash and RL / Kevin Gates clash. Noooo. I hope it's not like that; however this looks pretty damn good, great job.

I'm 100% with you on not wanting a Lana/Denzel conflict but wasn't sure who else it could be in terms of the rap acts that play Friday and the fact that it makes sense in my head for good counterprogramming to the headliner. Maybe it'll be a Float Den act opposing her instead? I'm hoping to catch at least a little of her set one way or the other. Making this mock definitely has gotten me mentally prepared to have some conflicts when the schedule drops.
Yeah, they always do have some conflicts though they weren't as bad in 2017 or 2018 because there was less stuff I was interested in seeing. Like I said, It's going to be a zig-zagging 2 days for me as I try to catch as much shit as I can as well as keeping an eye out for cool musical shit going on outside of the Ballroom in the covered area that doesn't appear on the lineup.
We're 4 weeks from tomorrow, so it's getting close. I'm definitely ready for a couple wild days, and Buku will deliver that. I'm thinking they'll make another announcement (perhaps Republic Saturday or one of their other shows) today or tomorrow. I'll keep checking around.
FWIW Pink, FFTL is about $47.50 on Stubhub so it's not prohibitive if you wanted to get tickets.
Lots of updates to make to the mock which will be my activity for the evening probably. Yes, Death Grips is going in the god damn Float Den now.
Lol. No fucking idea how the shit is going to go now. Main Wharf 2.0 acts I wanna see now are Liquid Stranger and Peekaboo. With what they’re putting out there, it’s gotta shut down by 11 because weenies on the other side of the river will be calling in to talk shows and whining about their roofs caving in and windows breaking.
Fuck them.
Also the fucking boat that smashed the dock apparently fd up the float den to some degree meaning it’s probably going to be smaller with a larger stage somewhere else. That would make sense for like Death Grips more now than before.

Alright, this is kind of weird but might work? Will toy around with it more probably but this is what I got for now: clashfinder.com/s/buku2019/
The Earthgang/JID (they're on Dreamville together and have a lot of tracks) and Black Madonna/Yaeji B2B sets were mostly just because I could, but I'd love for either of them to happen. I feel like Griz is too big for the Ballroom, but I've had Kevin Gates (Friday's #3) in there from the start, and people (not me, but whatever) love Louis The Child, so. I really don't see a way this can work if the Wharf only goes until 11 and then just the Ballroom and Float Den - especially given the potential lower capacity - close out, but who knows. I worked under the assumption that it would go until 1.
Nice job. I’d bet you’re > 50% hit on the clashfinder. Maybe they have Wharf’s sound blasting downward and localized. It’s 2019, so they can probably do that without sacrificing much outside of 10-15 decibels. Stage points downriver toward CBD and French Quarter so maybe they get 12 or 1? Noise ordinance is 11 on F/S so they’d have to cut it a bit at that point.
I’ll try to do a what I wanna see out of 10 tomorrow. This is far from my favorite fest lineup, but I have a feeling the gross average will end up in the high 6.x’s which doesn’t happen for a whole lineup that isn’t Wakarusa or Day for Night which are both unique and completely different from each other and Buku
Friday: The Iceman Special 1788-L 1/2 Toro Y Moi 1/2 Sunsquabi (they’ll only get an hour) Playboi Carti Rico Nasty From First to Last DJ Denzel for a minute *sniff* Excision Yves Tumor Death Grips Kevin Gates
Saturday: Mersiv/Oliver Tree/Thou Peekaboo <— favorite new discovery for Buku J.I.D Earl Sweatshirt 1/2 Liquid Stranger 1/2 Rocky 1/2 Yaeji pass by Jantsen/Papadosio Dog Blood some G Jones some GRiZ
That’s the best I can do. What I think is that some of the sets you have over an hour won’t be except a couple. They wont do many D4N 40 minute sets, but you can expect some of the undercard rappers to get 40-45. Most everyone else will get 50/60 with some hitting 75 or maybe 90 in a case or two. So I will be able to fit in more. I mean I’d pay 500 for what I’ve got scheduled plus free whiskey. But I figure I’ll get a few minutes at a bunch of shit I left off. Haha plus late nights = fun + damage

Kasbo Peekaboo / Ella Mai Earl Sweatshirt 1/2 Liquid Stranger 1/2 Rocky 1/2 $uicideBoy$ Dog Blood /G Jones / GRiZ (Lengths will be a game time decision)
They're completely different. Yves Tumor looks like it's going to be a noise assault whereas KKB is sort of a garage-indie pop type band. I'd be at Yves for the insanity.

Alright, since the sun hasn't come out in Atlanta in years, this is still what I'm doing: clashfinder.com/s/buku2019/
Griz being in the Ballroom was still bugging me, so Rocky's set got moved earlier and Griz is now on the Power Plant stage, similar to how Future and Miike Snow were arranged being #2 and #3 in 2016. Maybe not likely, but I think it's more likely than them trying to pack everyone who will want to see Griz into the Ballroom. I had no idea Ella Mai was as popular as she is, but good news, you're now closing the Ballroom. Congrats! Also rearranged some set times/lengths and the Wharf can shut down at 12:30, which I think is close enough to 1 that it can work and the rest of the smaller stages wouldn't be totally flooded after.
As it stands, if this was the schedule, Friday: 1788-L -> Sunsquabi -> Playboi Carti until he plays RIP -> Rico Nasty -> Denzel Curry -> end of Excision -> Yves Tumor -> 20 minutes of Lana -> Death Grips -> Claude VonStroke/Kevin Gates (game time call, probably split)
Saturday: Earthgang -> JID -> A$AP Rocky -> Earl Sweatshirt -> Black Madonna/Griz split -> Yaeji until $uicideboy$ starts -> $B -> Dog Blood -> G Jones
Typing that out reinforces to me how strong the hip-hop is on this lineup. Let's fuckin go.
So did GA single-day sellout? Or have they just not put them out?
They had them up for a few weeks until they sold out. Also, it looks like the VIP Stage is moved from the Back Alley after the barge wreck, so they're repairing that area of the MS River Wharf. So they erected (uh huh huh) a new stage behind the wharf with a banner where the VIP sets will be. I guess people can still hear them, just can't be there. Also, there is a Super VIP ticket on Stubhub for $570. That's a steal for that for anyone who likes to drink.
Schedule will be out late next week as expected (2 weeks before the festival). They still have to drop a late night show or possibly even a few more shows. Apparently Switch Yard takes the place of the Front Porch. I'll probably see Mersiv there and maybe Doja Cat. Wharf (if it's the full lineup for that stage), I'll see Peekaboo, Liquid Stranger and maybe $B and Whipped Cream
