Yeah. I'm looking to go to that Star Kitchen show if at all possible. It debuted last year (some different members) at Electric Forest. You said you'd throw a review out, but I'm guessing you might have ended up missing them?

Yepp, I thought they'd have a mid afternoon set at the Forest or Observatory stage (both intimate nestled within the Forest itself) but they scheduled them at the same time as Cut Copy (which was one of my must see's) and across the festival indoors so I missed them...
These night shows, like ALWAYS, are starting to stack up and giving me anxiety on what not to miss.. ha
Cubes are coming out this morning - not that they're very hard to guess. Jerry Lee Lewis had to pull out due to strokes. Unfortunate, but they say he's doing well. Johnny Rivers took his place. He's not the pianist or showboat that JLL is, but he's probably a better singer.
Some recent adds to night shows:
The Word plus G. Love & Southern Ave. - Sunday 4/28 @ Joy Theater
Khris Royal & Dark Matter album release + PYMP - Saturday 4/27 @ Gasa Gasa
Hendrix Heads & Tails plus Gravity A plays Talking Heads - Thursday 4/25 @ NOLA Brewing Funk tribute to Hendrix (Terence Higgins, Tony Hall, Luther Dickinson, John Medeski, Ed Williams & Jonathan Lang)
Cosmic Crawfish Boil - Wednesday 5/1 @ NOLA Brewing featuring: DMD (Daru Jones (Jack White), Marcus Marchado, Dough Wimbish (Living Colour), Ed Williams (Revivalists), Maurice Brown (TTB), Nigel Hall (Lettuce), Khris Royal Lil Baby Jesus Peasant Party - Jesus Coomes + members of lettuce, break science, pretty lights & rebelution (Deich, Lee, Royal probably) RumpleSTEELskin - special guests from Revivalists and Naughty Professor Roosevelt Collier's NOLA Get Down (Terence Higgins, Eric McFadden, Mike Dillon, Big Sam) Corey Henry's Treme Funktet The Iceman Special 3rd Ear Experience Benny & The Late Bloomers The Quickening plus artists at large Jason Hahn & Billy Iuso Show at 1:00am which I'm surprised they do anything that late there. Looks like an overnight crawfish boil. $25.00, 2 stages
Rickie Lee Jones ($10.00) dba Friday 5/3
I'm still waiting for Music Box Village to release the rest of its shows before making final purchases
Edit Two More Things:
Link to an article about some of the new food at this year's Jazz Fest. Yuca Fries and chimichurri looks like the best of the new stuff
The Festival will be releasing a limited number of Rolling Stones day tickets for $250+fees tomorrow morning. Those are sure to get snapped up as the secondary market has been in the low 300's for months. I'm not sure if I'm going to go to any other festival days besides second Thursday. I'll decide later on (might do first Thursday just because). But this looks like my Rolling Stones day schedule assuming I don't get in until 1pm:
Stones had to cancel their upcoming tour, including Jazz Fest.... ouch for anyone that bought 2nd hand tickets
Oh, yikes. Hope Mick gets better.
Agreed. It’s a bummer they can’t play, but Mick’s health is more important than me wanting to see them. Hopefully he recovers from whatever is ailing him.
We are going to be stuck at the airport when we arrive waiting for someone else to fly in. They got anything good to eat?!
I don't know because I'm never in there for long enough to know. The new billion dollar terminal that opens May 15 has a ton of good stuff. I realize we're a few weeks early on that, so if you can find what actually is at the airport, I can tell you if any of it is any good.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I'd eat any of that but Lucky Dogs. Also, Copeland's "Gourmet" has a dismal rating on Google. So I'd probably skip that though most of their restaurants are generally decent.
I still haven’t gotten any word from Jazz Fest about the Stones day. Hopefully they’ll offer a refund, because that’s what I want. Maybe they’ll rearrange the schedule a bit and add a couple of acts and make it a chill Thursday. Idk. I don’t even know what days I’m going to the fest. I figure at least 1 day first weekend and maybe 1 second. I’ll look at it more in the next couple weeks to figure it out. It’s disappointing to miss the Stones at Jazz Fest because of what it might have been. But there’s not shit you can do about it. Heart surgery is serious. Life.
Nights are shaping up perfectly for me however. I’ll add some shit, and if I don’t go to Panama City daze between, I’ll try to add more shit.
Th1 - Exmag and Michal Menert Fr1 - Disco Biscuits & Tauk Sa1 - Disco Biscuits Su1 - Star Kitchen (if I’m in town) Th2 - String Cheese Incident Fr2 - String Cheese Incident, Pigeons Fr2 - Les Claypool’s Bastard Jazz (2am) Sa2 - String Cheese Incident, Pigeons Sa2 - J.E.D.I. (? 2am)
Kind of excited about the talent on the horizon. Along with back to back Sound Tribe nights this weekend and probably the after parties, April is gonna be concentrated jam again this year. For sure I’m good with that and despite the Stones cancellation, I know I’m getting a few top 10 2019 shows this month.
Fleetwood Mac will be playing on May 2nd. Jazz Fest has initiated full refunds for the Stones' tickets. Fleetwood Mac Thursday will be $75.00 (plus dicket fees) through April 19. I might go that day because last time I tried to pass by Fleetwood Mac, there wasn't even anywhere you could see the stage. But that was a weekend.

Wasn't that the mudpit year also? I tried to go see them but it was so gross and all those people dancing in the mud/poo mixture was disgusting.

I don't remember it being super mucked up that year (2013). I was at Gentilly Stage watching Phoenix but needed to take a whiz, and they didn't have as many port-o-johns there as they do now. So I walked over to Stanley Clarke/George Duke Project to finish off because I couldn't get around either side to see Fleetwood Mac. They were at encore, and I figured if I watched a couple tunes from the back, that would be fine. But no dice. Only bigger crowd I've been in there was for Springsteen last time he played. That was nuts.

That was the year. It was super rainy the day before or a couple days before and a ton of women were playing in the mud when we walked by. It only had the leftover muddy spots in behind the speakers at the Acura stage and in a few other spots in the fairgrounds. It was super gross and I warned all of them that they were going to get sick. MuteMath opened for Phoenix and blew them away. The Gentilly Stage that year was were it was at.

Sounds like the foundation handled this about as well as they could.
I know people very happy and excited about this turn of events. I'm not a huge Stone's fan, so I get it and Fleetwood Mac is a great get and a good time for all. This is about as good as it gets I think.
I’m not happy about it because I wanted to see The Rolling Stones. Haha. But for 75 it’s a good day. I’d see Tin Men, Anders Osborne/Pocket Aces Brass Band, Egg Yolk Jubilee, Samantha Fish, Guitar Masters/Rita Coolidge/Dumpstaphunk, Fleetwood Mac/Ziggy Marley/Mavis Staples/Tom Jones. I’m not sure how it would all work out, but for a Thursday...
