I don’t think Black Keys are relevant enough to headline anymore. I’m still relatively young and can’t see people my age or younger getting excited about them the same way they would Tame Impala
well they haven't existed for a while so that makes sense. It's not like Jack White or LCD are super relevant today. They'd also get a comeback bump

Fair, I think LCD has more of a cult following though and Jack White was culturaly relevant for a longer time than TBK. Black Keys were probably bigger than both though. Also, Dan Auerbach has toured for 2 projects that sound like The Black Keys so people haven’t been starved of the sound.
Black Keys would do nothing for me at all but I'd still see them if I attended. They'd definitely feel like a letdown at a fest as big as Coachella at this point. Would like them a lot more as a sub but I don't see that happening again.
Poo, I'll save up pennies for the BTS headlining set next year.
you actually believe this is gonna happen?
I can definitely see it happening. Coachella proved this year they're trying out new stuff to differentiate themselves from the American festival pack, including having more non-English speaking acts. This trend, coupled with the festival's move toward more unique headliners, makes me think BTS could very well headline.

what makes you say Coachella is moving towards having unique headliners? Having a couple non English speaking undercard acts is way off from a K-pop band headlining the entire festival.
With how poorly this sold compared to previous years, there is zero chance they take a risk on a K-Pop headliner next year. Zero. They're going to want a couple huge headliners that have fanbases they can count on.

This year they're the first American festival to give Ariana Grande a headlining set, a move people still criticize for being "too pop." They were also the first festival to have a non Jay Z-affiliated headlining set from Beyoncé.
Names like Gambino, Radiohead, Tame Impala, etc. aren't necessarily unique, but are unique for Coachella headliners. The last time they had a repeat headliner was in 2017.
There's more than a few non-English speaking undercard acts. Heck, a few of them take up prime second line real estate (J Balvin, Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK).

BTS is one the headliners that can guarantee this happening. They just sold out some of the world's biggest stadiums, and are adding more dates that may very well sell out.
I might sound like a crazy BTS stan, but they're a phenomenon I can certainly see Coachella capitalizing on in the future.
Yes, but one could presume they had many different options for a replacement (that we know of). Heck, artists like Mumford had tour dates with "Coachella" seemingly written all over them.

Someone like BTS could headline *eventually* if they keep emphasizing international acts and try to grow that fan base. But this is the first year they’ve seemed to be really focusing on Korean talent, it’s still only a handful of undercard acts, and one year is not a trend.
Going from BlackPink on the end of the second line to BTS headlining in one year just a enormous unfounded leap in logic based on this fest’s history.

I don’t get what you’re saying here. They went one year without a repeat headliner and that was a year with two of their least unique headliners in The Weeknd and Eminem. Coachella headliners have gotten less unique imo.

Coachella got a ton of press for including BLACKPINK on their lineup. The media would have a field day if BTS headlined.
I was leaning towards “probably not” when I first brought up BTS a while back because I wasn’t sure if it would translate well enough for the Coachella audience to accept. After selling out the Rose Bowl pretty damn quickly and adding another Rose Bowl date, I’m convinced it can happen now. Two Rose Bowl shows together is about 75% of Coachella’s TOTAL capacity with both weekends. That’s insane. If they don’t cost a ridiculous amount of money, I think it would be worth it for Coachella. Plus it would be a cool statement from Coachella as the first non-English speaking headliner, possibly the biggest form of acceptance yet of K-pop in the US.

You echoed my thoughts more eloquently and concisely than I, so thank ya. Coachella would also have no problem selling out both weekends just for the sheer value of BTS alone.
The difference between BLACKPINK on the second line and BTS as a headliner is not so different than having Kacey Musgraves on the third line vs. booking Garth Brooks to headline, or booking Hans Zimmer on the third line vs. John Williams headlining. You get more leeway with risk taking every line you drop on the poster. But they are not going to book K-Pop or country or film orchestral as one of the three headlining acts that, "Coachella is all about the undercard!!!!!" or not, many ticket buyers make their decision on whether there is a big headliner they want to see. And when you veer too far off from the EDM/indie/hip-hop/rock fanbase Coachella has, you're essentially risking losing long time attendees on a whim that you can rope in an entirely new audience to come to the fest for just one year for your marquee headliner.
