Didn’t FYF cram 4 stages here in the past? So, stfu supЯefan
Youre not factoring in space removed by the upgrades. The bridge essentially removed a stage placement along with the top end of the park not being an empty lot anymore. So what did I miss between the 2013 version of the park and now. 🤔
This is not useable anymore, thats a bunch of space. Enough for 2 stages easily. So are they gonna rip up some trees now?

Friends who went to smoking grooves says the main stage sound was terrible. Ran out of toilet paper, water stopped working in the bathroom sink, vegan food options ran out, food was nasty and expensive and Badu was cut short

Went to Smokin Grooves yesterday. The main stage had horrible sound. If you weren’t in the VIP area or Beer Garden, your whispers were louder than the music. The setup was also weird. If you tried to watch artists on the main stage in the beer garden (basically the only way you could get close to the stage without VIP), you basically had a hill with a large tree blocking your view. Even when you were on the hill, the sound was horrible unless you were at the top, which was nearly impossible with how crowded it was.
But behind the main stage was a “viewing area” where they setup a flatscreen TV and a speaker, and you could sit on the grass and watch the performances that way. The sad thing is that was one of the few ways you could actually hear and see the acts on the main stage.
Food was way overpriced. I paid $20 for a teriyaki chicken bowl, and it was half the size of a small bowl at Waba Grill. The water, which was $5, ran out around 4pm.
The other stage where Toro Y Moi played at actually had great sound and the overall vibe. But again, if you weren’t 21 and up you couldn’t get close cause the beer garden took up everything in front of the sound booth.
Not sure how Primavera is gonna fit 4 stages cause Smoking Grooves barely made 2 work.
Also, just avoid going to a Live Nation festival no matter the lineup.
I was at Smokin Grooves yesterday. Here are the goods and the bads:
- They had 38 acts and two stages, with lots of 20-30 min for each act. Both were rotating stages, so there was constant music going on... kind of. The secondary stage, called Jupiter, had no issues with this setup, every act was on time and almost no issues with the set times etc. The main stage, on the other hand, had some issues earlier in the day, where acts were starting later than advertised time, and this got worse by the end of the day. For example, The Roots were supposed to start 7:20 pm, but I think it was around 7:40 or so when they actually did. We left early, so not sure what happened with Erykah Badu, but I heard that they cut her mic off at 11 pm. I don't know how long she ended up playing, it was originally 1 hr.
- Sound: Again, the secondary stage had no sound issues, and it was left crowded throughout the day. The sound at the main stage though was horrible. It was very muffled, and the only way we could hear the acts playing was going to the backstage area where they had a bigger screen and a set of additional subs (like watching it from streaming lol). The constant wind didn't help with the sound obviously, but I think they could've added a second set of subs next to the soundboard so that more people in the back could actually hear it. The main stage also very packed starting as early as 1 pm, when we arrived there.
- Setup of the fest: It was a bit interesting, especially given the shape of the park itself. I feel like there should be a better way to set stages up, but not sure how. Both stages were quite big, so as long as the stages other than the main one in Prima LA are not as big, it should be easy to fit three stages there. Not sure how they're gonna do four though. It's a very tricky space.
- Food & drinks: There were a lot of drink concessions, and a good amount for food with lots of variety. Everything was VERY expansive though. They only had two beers, in GA at least, 24 oz Bud Light for $15 and 24 oz Corona for $17 lmao. Food was even worse, chicken tenders & fries for $16, nasty nachos for $22, and a slice of pizza for $11 lmao. Basically everything for $20-25. I hope this is not the indication for the rest of the festival season, but if it's, make sure to allocate a good amount of budget for food/drinks. Only two water refill stations, and it could've been a bit bigger.
- Acts: Throughout the day we managed to catch 12 acts. This could've been more if we didn't leave at around 9 pm, because it was very cold for LA, and we weren't prepared for it. It even rained, which is crazy as this was, like, the third or fourth time it rained in LA in the past few months lol. My favorite was The Roots, first time seeing them, and they delivered a really good performance. Thundercat was okay, Free Nationals were fun, DOMi & JD Beck was really really fun (they'll only get bigger soon, so make sure to catch them if you have the chance). Overall, it was an okay festival, with decent music. And considering it was my first fest since December 2019, I'll take it with all its ups and downs. Still f*ck LN though.
So the III Points LA that never happened was supposed to be at the LA historic park but was going to also use these warehouses in the east Chinatown area next to the park. I think that’s where Secret Project was. Those were gonna go till 2AM while the main stages were gonna be done at midnight.
Yeah, Secret Project is at the end of the warehouses right by the river how its marked off. Wouldve been interesting cause they wouldve had to close off some streets to make that happen.
coming back to this thread after a while. i logged back in to primaverasoundla.frontgatetickets.com/ and seeing record of my order from june 2019 so that is reassuring. still don't know if we're getting one .pdf/qr code for each ticket each night or what. probably not going to all 3 days of this due to location and lineup but saturday i am def there. hopefully there are some additional artist announcements this summer

Having half the front reserved for beer jails is annoying. People who want to beer it up during a set are usually cool with being off to the side and not right up front...

Yea I'm a little conflicted because I know I'll be in that beer garden some of the time and it's nice to have a good view.
