I absolutely love this lineup. Way to recover the fumble after an iffy lineup last year. I can see the headliners being Tame (unopposed), VW vs. Solange, and Stevie Nicks vs. some rapper.
Just went back and watched some of Miley’s Europe festival sets from last summer and they look like an absolute blast. I’m pumped.
I saw her at Glastonbury. It was.....decent. She has a great punk rock/screamer voice live, but her voice doesn't hold out well for melodic type singing live. Stage presence fine but a little preachy.
This is quite the decision for gov ball to make. I personally like it and think it’s a good choice but this is really a “fuck the kids” choice
I love these choices too, but I don't see this as a "fuck the kids" choice necessarily. Tame, VW, Nicks all have appeal to college kids (especially Tame) and Flume, Solange, and Miley all appeal to the demographic as well. Though maybe I just have that outlook due to being around more of the college radio crowd in college.
They gotta be going after Kendrick right? He has shows in Europe like a month later and that would be a huge exclusive get for them. That would really make this lineup to another level. All good things so far in my opinion. Excited for YBN Cordae. I have been dying to see H.E.R and if foals which seems likely I will be pretty pumped. Hopefully gang starr as well.

I really think they really had a eye opening moment with the Sunday nightmare and art destruction.
For a few years there they probably were just in all out survival and business mode trying to beat Panorama and launch Meadows. But now they are truly the only game in time and are an institution in NY, which gives them a bit more freedom to be the fest they want.

Stoked on all the names leaked so far. Still think I can only handle a single day these days, though. I actually hope Stevie isn't a headliner and is a sub for Tame. That day would be an instant purchase for me. '

Kendrick is apparently doing Osheaga and I'd imagine Lolla as well so he wouldn't be an exclusive. A great booking none the less.

These headliners might appeal to a large amount of you, but I do not think it’ll come close to selling out. You might not like to hear it, but the festival crowd is mainly younger people (18-24) and idk anyone around my age who would think these artists would be worth the price/trip. There’s no musical diversity in those headliners, it’s all in the rock genre, so there no pulling in a little of each genre fan, if that makes sense. Coachella had it right. One rock band, one hip hop artist, one r&b/pop artist. If these leaks are true, 2021 will be a very different year, as gov ball will see that the older heads aren’t a big enough crowd for a supposedly 50K crowd per-day festival.
