this. a billion times this. but i think we all know the guy is just trying to get a rise out of people.
First, nobody "equated" anything. Simply listing off people/acts who have been credibly accused of varying degrees of sexual misconduct doesn't mean one is saying they're all the same. For the record, some of the people listed there need to be put in jail, some don't. But it's a great strawman argument to make to try and undermine the point being made, so kudos.
And as I noted above, if you're fine with supporting people who have done this stuff in the past, great for you. I'm not comfortable with it and I think anyone boasting about it needs to have a long hard look at themselves. Again, there's zero shortage of great musicians who haven't ever done this stuff.
It's more weird/concerning how many people just want to brush this off and attribute it to being raised in a patriarchal society or whatever.
But it's not getting brushed off. It was already atoned for pretty seriously in accordance with the accuser's exact wishes. And given that it took her "a while to figure out that...she felt damaged by [the relationship]" is it not fair that Evan might have also not realized the implicit manipulation in their relationship until she brought up her feelings?

He should have known though! If you can't read your partner's mind you are actually a r*pist and need to be canceled forever.

Same thing in this situation though even LESS harmful. Don't get how a simple misunderstanding when he was 17 should result in them getting cancelled.
Just remember, if you're a piece of shit at 17 - you're always a piece of shit until the day you die. Which might be sooner rather than later, when the Twitter lynch mob wants you to hang yourself asap.

Larry Farnsworth was raised in an isolation pod, being fed only the purest of ideologies until he emerged at the age of 37, perfectly shiny and smooth, ready for war.

At which point he was offered the position of Executive Producer of Newport Folk Festival. The rest is history.

my favorite part about the newport folk fest thread on inforoo dot com is that everyone here is extremely funny
My favorite part is that everybody is pleasant and you don't have to read through all the hostility and shitposting that comes with the Boston Calling thread... Oh wait.

In other news, RKS is the worst booking this fest has made since I started attending ten years ago. What an awful band. Just a puzzling, head-scratching booking.
Are you fucking kidding me? Get out of here with that. Do your research. Read up on shit before throwing words like that around. Jesus.
Bret Dennon crushed “Late in the Evening” with DeerTick at the cafe. Im not here to call out crap bands at Newport, but I can think of 30 that jump Bret Dennon in line. Beck might be at the front.

Courtney Barnett was a lot of fun last night. Would be great to see her again this summer and someone from Deer Tick was there, I’m assuming Ian, fingers crossed that we see a collaboration for the 10 year farewell.

Courtney backed by Deer Tick sounds like a fun experiment

I kind of would love a last waltz style set from Deer Tick. Give them 2 hours and let it be a mix of Deer Tick songs and multiple guests/covers from various artists but with Deer Tick as the backing band. This is the year that they're taking a break from after shows and stuff once it's over, right?
