Is it weird that each year I really only consider attending 3 major music festivals: Newport, Shaky Knees, and Riot Fest? I guess there’s some overlap (Patti Smith, Gogol Bordello, Bright Eyes, etc), and Shaky Knees bridges the two, but RF and NFF are so distinct.
That MCR announcement might have just stolen me away from Newport this year. But a Bon Iver set might win me back.

MCR doesn't have anything Newport weekend. I mean a man can dream, right? haha
Just a thought. Would it be better if they made The Harbor Stage all standing? It's getting really hard to get seats there and viewing from outside isn't great. Maybe they could make it an acoustic stage. We could enjoy sets like this. By the way, I'll be forever grateful to Jay for bringing Frightened Rabbit to Newport. I'm so glad to have seen Scott before he left us.

I think that's been discussed on here(last years thread) before, but its an issue with the fire code or something in the vein.
Digging this new “The Revivalists” album! Good to see them back in the grove...the latest album was very disappointing. Would still like to see them at the Fort.
Grace Potter would be great. Just saw her last week and had completely forgotten how great she is live after not seeing her for 4+ years.
What's her band like these days? It seems like she does a good amount of Nocturnals stuff live so I'm curious to check out her set at Bonnaroo set if the scheduling works out
Seeing Grace Potter Saturday night at the Beacon. With Lucius on her album reminds me that after a short hiatus, we'll probably see Lucius back at the Fort doing their thing (was it becoming a bit cliche for a while?), perhaps with Grace.

Short hiatus = 1 year lol
But yeah you're probably right and I don't think I'll really ever have a problem with it
New podcast out. Mandolin Orange featured covering Leonard Cohen!
This season we’re introducing a new format: Each episode we’ll ask a Folk Family Artist to take a look at every other artist that has ever played Newport Folk and cover a song by them. For this first episode, we were fortunate enough to have Mandolin Orange chose to cover Leonard Cohen
New Hamilton Leighthauser album announced for Feb 7. Would be very happy to have him back at Newport. He & Rostam's set was one of the most beautiful Harbor Stage shows I've seen.
Upcoming Shows: August 7: Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas August 30: Waxahatchee/Snail Mail/Tim Heidecker September 17: Pearl Jam/Glen Hansard September 24: Idles/English Teacher
"O'Brien's first solo track, the ambient composition "Santa Teresa", was released on 4 October 2019. His first solo album, released under the name EOB, was announced in December 2019 and is due for release in early 2020 on Capitol Records. It was produced by Flood, Catherine Marks and Cecil Bartlett and mixed by Alan Moulder, with contributions from drummer Omar Hakim, Invisible members Nathan East and Dave Okumu, folk singer Laura Marling, Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley, Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche and Radiohead bassist Colin Greenwood."
Damn that’s a great booking. This is what I love to see booked at Newport. Plus, he’s a little more folktronica than Newport has really ever ventured into before, and I’m all for that. (Beth Orton is the only other folktronica artist I can recall Newport booking.)
Also, not sure who he’ll be touring with, but here are some of the guests on the upcoming album:

Hell yea
I'd love to see Laura Marling show up, apparently she has an album in the works too
