I saw The Lone Bellow last night for their album release show and signing. The new songs sound beautiful live! Asked Zach after if well see them at Newport this year and his response was “I wish”, unless plans change it seems they may not be there - unless they are just keeping their mouths shut about it!

I was at the show too. New album played really well. They told me they’d love to play Newport this year and to start a social media frenzy and get in Jay’s ear. Reading the liners I see Phil Cook on a couple of tracks and Josh Kaufman all over the album so could make for nice sit ins. So Jay if you’re reading this.........

I was also there and Zach told me the same. I guess there were enough of us asking the same question!
Every year when the full lineup drops, I'm like "damn, we should have put in for tickets". This year, there are already four "must-sees" in the first handful of artists announced, so we put in for two tickets via the fan-to-fan exchange.
We're #2021 in line. Do we stand any chance of getting tickets before July? Anyone have experience with the fan-to-fan exchange?

As I was standing in the crowd before it started I thought to myself .. there are definitely Newport inforoo folks here..I’m glad we all have the same thought to ask!

I haven’t experienced Lyte before from the buying side (I’ve sold tickets through it).
I’d feel confident of getting tickets with a number between 0-500. At 500-1100 I’d be cautiously optimistic. Anything after that, my confidence would start dropping. Especially in the 2000s.
If I’m not mistaken, capacity of the festival is around 10,000. So my naive estimate is that 1/5 of the entire ticket buying community would have to resell until your number comes up. And given that there are different ticket types that probably are more limited in numbers (e.g., Newport may only sell 6,000 3 days and keep the other 4,000 for single days and 2 days), there are fewer than 10,000 of any ticket type to ever have a chance of hitting the secondary market.
That said, 2,000 tickets don’t necessarily need to get transferred before Lyte gets to you. You just need to hang in there longer than those ahead of you. Come June, I’d assume a lot of people ahead of you will start cancelling their requests and make other summer plans. And that will move you up in line as well. If you’re going to be in Newport that weekend anyways (or you’re local) and can stay in line until the day before the fest, you may quickly move through the rest of the line. So it also comes down to how long you can realistically hang in there without the certainty of getting a ticket.
A few weeks back they sent out an odd email to Newport ticket requesters. And then they apologized and redacted it. (I couldn’t follow what either email was trying to say- neither seemed too concerning.)
That said, I’ve been stuck at #4 for way over a month now. There surely can’t be a period this long where not even one person utilized Lyte to transfer their tickets, right? (I’ve only moved 15 places since it went live; and most of that movement was within a day or two of Lyte allowing ticket transfers).

Just remember...they had a delay when Lyte got started, where tickets could be sold but not purchased. I wouldn’t put it past them that they are holding onto tickets....when you have that many people waiting, you can do that. I’m suspicious of this whole Lyte process though.

It's difficult to get tix for Newport when you are waiting with your browser open. But if you really think you may want to go someday get in the Lyte line early. Buy them when your turn comes up. You won't get stuck with them if you decide you don't want to go. Your tickets on Lyte will sell instantly minus the minimal service charge you paid for changing your mind. If you can afford the service charge you will be OK. And if you go you will do it every year.
Pearl Jam is happening this year! I have no knowledge of this but if I state it as fact on the internet then it will definitely be true.
Now that would be a whoa, and a wtf. And further proof that if you say something on the internet, it becomes a truth for many. By the way, I just lost 10 pounds.
I get it why not many responded. I, too, have had so many good shows of late, and surprises, that I am happy to just hang on a log rolling down the NFF river and what will come , will come. And it will be good.
RE LYTE -- Concerned, so I wrote to them a while back. They didn't seem to think the pace was extraordinarily slow, but I noted reports of people moving up in bunches, while many of us sit on one number for weeks. Perhaps it was that last positing, but I did gain a little traction after that. I think its the formula, and that app they bought on the cheap from Iowa.
2,000 + is super high, although there could be tickets there ppl wont really want. I know folks are down on Stub Hub because there is always the risk of counterfeits, and then what? (trade for an after show?)But my first year...2013, we used Stub Hub, purchased two for 2 days, paid a little more and were fine. Might use different sellers for different days to improve the odds of good tix. All hope is not lost.

The National and Julia Jacklin are playing at Wolf Trap in VA the Wednesday before Newport. I don't see any other dates announced yet, but they may be a possibility?

There’s a Isbell/Crosby date on there too. Which isn’t mentioned on JI site, and neither is the National date.

Similarly, Andrew Bird with Iron and Wine and Calexico, but that show is in the middle of June
The Calexico one is called “The Great Summer Stroll” so it looks like a summer tour. That’s a positive.
I wonder if they dropped all those shows too early haha.
Yeah, they are on sale to the public on 02/22, so maybe they dropped a week early?
No it was planned. Wolf Trap always drops their summer schedule around this time. Wolf Trap members can buy tickets for 2 weeks then the tickets go on sale to the general public.
Nicole Atkins has an early July date at the Sinclair, not sure if that eliminates her from getting her own set at Newport, but I wouldn't be surprised if she is at least around for the weekend. The new song is solid:
