Winnipeg FF lineup is pretty nice. Might be able to scope out some possibilities from their lineup. One I noticed was Vance Joy, who seems to come east after that fest.
Nice to see her back but I’m super bumming with lineup announcements so far. I usually have a bunch of stuff that I can discover but it’s pretty blah this year for that - lots of repeat names.

I get that on the discovery side, but I actually haven't listened to Puss n Boots before so I'm liking this announcement. Friday has the most exciting acts for me so far: Randy Newman, Big Thief and EOB.
I'd imagine they will start doing their 3 announcements per week in the coming weeks

Am I wrong or has there been very little movement in the lyte queue? In the past I have moved up a hundred spots by now, but so far I have only moved up eight spots.
Is it a fair to assume they bring back another band called “Watkins Family Hour” too? They have new music.
I predicted that back in January when they announced their new album. Or they could do another "American Acoustic" set with a mixture of Nickel Creek / Watkins Family Hour songs.
Live From Here is playing at least two festivals this summer (and some of the old house band members will already be there for Hawktail) and Nickel Creek has a show coming up in September, so I’m thinking some or all of those might coincide with Watkins Family Hour nicely. (I’m With Her would not be far behind if they hadn’t played last year...but I personally wouldn’t complain if they played every year.)

I’m convinced there’s something off with it. I moved 1 spot in a month and a half. Although, the strategic downside of it existing as a marketplace, is that people know there’s no hurry to sell back tickets as there is guaranteed demand at the moment they do choose to do so. Why not just hold onto a ticket for now and sell back in June?

This is my interpretation too. Aside from the few people that bought the tickets and immediately regretted it for whatever reason, I think that until summer, we’ll just see the sporadic selling by people that suddenly had conflicts arise. Otherwise, if you’re on the fence, there’s no point in selling today if you know you can sell it in June and, who knows, maybe someone like Bruce or Paul Simon will be announced in the meantime. That’s what my thought process would be, at least.

As much as we hate StubHub, market prices would incentivize individuals who are casually holding onto a ticket to sell it back to take advantage of the higher prices.
However, it’s still strange that only 1 person had a conflict and had to resell their ticket using the official channel within the last month. That’s a crazy low number.

I don’t really understand purchasing tickets to this festival or any festival 7 months in advance and then only two months later selling them because of conflict of schedule. I don’t live that far so travel plans aren’t hard for me but if I make plans that far out it’s because I’m going. Last year is the only year since I started going that I needed to use Lyte and it moved very slow but ended up working for me in the end. I’ve also had a great experience with members of this community helping me more than once and I’ve occasionally been able to return the favor so be patient and it will all work out. Fuck Stubhub

I get it. Last year I bought a ticket and fully intended to go but almost had to bail on it because my sister was still trying to finalize her summer wedding date and it almost was landing on Newport weekend. Sometimes things come up that you can't really skip for a festival. A friend's wedding who I am not really close with and don't really hang with is easier to skip than a close family member.

I realize life does get in the way but most people know about weddings at least a year in advance and this is a smaller festival so those sort of possibilities shrink in comparison to a festival the size of bonnaroo. I’m only trying to support trusting the process. Last year I almost couldn’t go because I was at my aunts house in the cape when we were hit by a tornado and would have had to jump out of the lyte que and sell my friday tickets plus all my after party tickets.

Saves the dates usually go out 8-12 months in advance. For an early August wedding, it makes sense you might send them out as Christmas/Holiday cards, or after Newport tickets go on sale.
But technicalities aside, that’s a long time in advance to plan. We bought tickets last year thinking we were not going to go. Only to change our minds by Feb-March.
Jobs can change, availability to take vacation, etc. etc. can all happen. Or a better lineup for another festival may drop and you simply change your mind.
That said, if you landed tickets, it makes sense you’d hold onto them until at least the lineup dropped since there are no disadvantages from doing so.

This was essentially my point of short term issues are more likely to come up and change someone’s mind as opposed to long term plans. Also just pointing out if you’re around this neck of the woods you’re likely to get help.
Interesting tidbit: the Newport insta account liked a photo that Keith Richards posted. I checked and Newport only follows him, not the stones account, Not jaggers account, or any other stones related account. Could this be the year we finally get Keith at the Fort?

Wild fantasy time. Last summer John and Ian of DT shared on Instagram that they were seeing The Stones. John posted a photo of the words "Enjoy the show, compliments of Keith" saying "coolest sentence ever emailed to me". They also both shared a photo of a cigarette butt with the caption "Thanks Keith". So it sounds like they're friends, or Keith is at least aware of them. SO MAYBE HE SHOWS UP TO THE BLUES CAFE??
Hi everyone, figured this was the right place to ask about this. Hiss Golden Messenger is playing in the back room at a guitar shop in my hometown. Only been to one show there (John Darnielle of The Mountain Goats), and it's a super cool intimate space that only fits 100 people. While i'm a big TMG fan, I don't know Hiss Golden Messenger very well--i've only listened to a couple songs. Should I definitely see them, given how intimate the venue is? Tickets are almost sold out so I have to decide soon.

Definitely go. Every time I've seen them, I've been blown away. The first time I saw them I only knew one or two songs, but could not believe how much I enjoyed the set.
