Someone on here already pointed out the elephant in the room. Well SXSW is cancelled.
I did about a week ago (?) -- the same day I was checking air rates for Austin to attend SXSW for at least one day. Well, if nothing else, it might get Lyte moving. SXSW actually had permission from health experts to go on, but too many companies involved backed out.
Ultra Miami Festival in March just went down. I'm optimistic this thing at least goes into hibernation during the hottest months, just like the flu.
Yeah that's what I've read. Newport have the advantage of time. I hope they wait until the Summer before calling it. I'd be more worried if I were going to Boston Calling.

It's summer in other parts of the world that are seeing cases grow
All is well. The President said yesterday that “The tests are all perfect like the letter was perfect. The transcription was perfect."
Back to business -- seems time to give Upstate a shot, even if just in the Museum. It's a simple sound, but they've honed it nicely. Also wouldn't remind a repeat of Low-cut Connie now that they are back with limited touring.

came across this just now from the marcus king announcement post on IG. Image wont attach but text below:
nickmorales716 @imajs only 19 announcements in and it's clear I will be all over the Fort. Keep it coming!!
imajs @nickmorales716 really appreciate you saying that. Been a crazy year
Now its just speculation, though isnt that what we do here, but i wonder what Jay might be referring to. Is it a "the world is crazy in 2020" or is he more alluding to a crazy year getting the lineup he desired. hmmm.
not gonna lie, as of today i feel a bit underwhelmed. but im probably doing better than people with tickets to coachella so i guess its all about perspective...
"Crazy year" can mean a lot of things. While Newport has really heated up in the music world, the corporate backed festivals are difficult competition. I suspect some musicians are not keen wandering about as they have in the past; smaller acts can't afford to miss dates -- which is why MKB stepping up is a big plus. Besides, who doesn't want some backing horns on stage?

Just saw that Coachella may postpone until October. Imagine the logistics! Here in Westchester everything is bananas, with school closings and possible area lock downs, so my Doctor Dark posts are likely through that lens right now.

"Crazy year " -- I can't imagine the financial blow that Newport Foundations would take if things don't improve this summer, so let's hope for the best.
P.S. -- MY thumbs down to Dylan was a joke. Bring your dog to the fest, and you can even close one night!
Also seems like there’s just a lot more competition that exact weekend. Going against Osheaga, Lollapalooza, Pickathon, Cambridge and Hinterland, which usually are the week after, as well as XPN. Any theories on why this happened this year?

Yeah. Newport pushed their festival back a week. Most of these fests were the July-August weekend last year, too.
I did it with Lamb Chop singing to Shari Lewis: "This is the song that never ends / it goes round and round my friends. / Some people starred singing it not knowing what it was / And we continue singing it forever just because..." So I'm still washing. My skin is flaky. I have a new OCD. And Charlie Horse is singing right behind me. And if you get this post, welcome to my world.
