This festival is 128 days away. No need to make decisions at this time.
I respectfully and fervently disagree. Four months out is when a lot of people will be booking flights and hotels and rental cars. The sooner those people know, the less of a headache it will be for everyone.
Right now we're being told to avoid groups as large as ten... I just don't see how a festival of ten thousand gets a go-ahead for July. Any event organisers who think COVID-19 will have blown over by then need to pull their heads out of their asses (looking at you, Lollapalooza).
Newport: 10,000 Lolla: 80,000-100,000
Huge difference. Jay said he is in contact with RI officials and I'm sure if they told him to pull the plug already, he would've done so. We are also fortunate that this festival isn't a large capacity festival and it is outdoors. Granted I'm not an epidemiologist so I don't know how the virus will mutate or act come the next few months. All we can do it wait, and radiate some positivity.
This thing is getting cancelled, and anyone who thinks differently is hopefully delusional
Well I'm not delusional at all. I'm optimistic at best. I truly believe this will be under control long before Newport. The smartest people in the world are working on this, this will NOT be the way of life going forward, that I KNOW. Have some faith and hope for the best. For now follow the recommendations, support artists any way you can, don't stress and live your life. see you all in July/August ! Peace.

hey guys, things may be bleak, but this is literally a message board about getting excited for NFF. what good does accusing people of delusion or spreading negativity do right now? or on here of all places? we got plenty of that stuff everywhere else in the world. if the fest gets cancelled, bummer, but until that point i dont see the thought process behind predicting doom and pointing fingers.

folk on.
Hey guys. Ok thanks. I'll go fuck myself. See ya later inforoo.
If this gets cancelled, I really hope that the tickets I just received through Lyte can be transferred to next year’s fest. I don’t want to have to try my luck at the on sale again.
^ to be fair though, in Newport’s interest, I think it’s best to refund everyone and have a fresh start at next year’s on sale.

I'm sure he will discuss the communication he has been having with the state, and what sort of precautions will be in place in order for the festival to happen.
Barrie? You mean barre chords? Tull guitarist Martn Barre? Barry Manilow? No offense to them, their music seems pleasant enough, but I've been eating over ripe apples and all weekend waiting for today's announcement, and Barrie? Seems an odd booking. Reminds me of Aha or muzak rock...Oh well, I'd rather see them live than wonder what I missed.
Wonder if some names that were to be announced are under the covers right now in case of a cancellation. Thanks for the Josh Ritter reminder!
Watching Jay's Instagram and the big reveal on Barrie is that the lead singer has been Jay's assistant at the festival for the past 11 years. Have to think that they will do everything they can to make the set special. (assuming it happens.)

This Instagram is nice. nice.
Yeah it just clicked when he said that. She is the woman that is always following him around at the gates before they open!

She made a comment the day Barrie was announced that it's been an honor working at Newport all these years.

Lucius shared Roger Waters tour postponement image on instagram, and the official Newport account commented saying "Hmmmmm". I don't know what that means, I just wanted to share it with y'all.
Barrie is fucking great. This was one of my favorite tracks of 2018:
I like them. They write great songs. They've an authentic late 80s/early 90s sounds. It's hard to find much about them. They've been popping up in articles the last few years but there isn't a ton about them in those articles. Band memeber's seem to come from all over. I'd be interested in finding out more about what Barrie's role was with Newport.
