Any one think it’d be a possible postponement? Might they push things a month to make it more likely to happen/ease pressures? Would certainly wreak havoc on the Airbnb world but it’s better than no fear...
I can assure you that the Fort is booked up on one of the Saturdays in early September. But Jay, if you’re reading this, give me a call and maybe we can work out a deal 😉

Happy weekend to everyone. I’m sure we are all passing time with recorded live music, figure I would see what people are listening to. I am particularly in search of full shows, high quality, nff artists and good times. Ill start
Traveller (Robert Ellis, Jonny fritz, Cory chisel) full show from their “farewell” tour
Jason Isbell live in boston HOB (a bit older but a favorite and great quality)

This is what I was listening to today. Luke Kelly. It's not a full show but there are plenty out there. It's from a 1970s show on Irish TV. There is a Newport connection. Pete Seeger and his wife were good friends with Luke. Pete brought him over to play Newport once. Luke owed his career to Pete. Pete was active with the folk revival over in England. Kelly moved to England in his late teens. By his early 20s he had become involved in a folk music revival there. He met Pete and learned to play banjo like him by listening to his recordings. Returning to Dublin in the 1960s, he is noted as a founding member of the band The Dubliners. It would be a difficult task to go to any good Irish bar around the world on St Patrick's day (2020 excluded) and not hear the Dubliners played. It wasn't just in America that Pete Seeger revived folk music. In this video he discussed meeting the poet who wrote the lyrics for this song. The poem was a true love story the poet had for a woman he met.

I realize this may be an unpopular opinion on this forum, but I think The 1975 would be a really cool and out of left field booking for this fest (whenever it happens next). The latest single they just released is a collaboration with Phoebe Bridgers and it works really well despite the weird pairing. Despite their over the top live shows, they can do stripped down songs really well. Plus I think they would be aligned with the Newport vibes given their politics.
Also, odd parallel between Barrie and Ballroom Thieves. They both feature facial massage in their music videos: Barrie - Darjeeling Ballroom Thieves - Only Lonely
This is absolutely heartbreaking - this is an absolute loss for the folk community and music community as a whole. Sending all the best to his family right now.

This has nothing to do with fear or negativity. If it's on, I'll be there.
This has everything to do with fucking public health.
Newport are working with the appropriate authorities. Why not let them decide what's best for the 'fucking' public health. Everyone here wants what's best. You just said 'if it's on'. You previously said there 'there's no way they can gather 10,000 people in the next six months'. Jay doesn't know. You don't know. I don't know. You might be right. You're placing your bet on earning an 'I told you so' moment. Probably a safer bet. But in the absence of certainty isn't hope is a little bit healthier than worrying about something we can't control?
denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.
The stages of grief apply to something that actually happened. If you spend your life taking on the the negative stages of grief for stuff that might happen you'll never be happy. Save it for if and when it does.
