I don’t want to celebrate exactly, but I did mention a few years back that the club was run by some corrupt CT Politicians who helped John Rowland launder money. I didn’t have a chance to listen to that whole Interview but Hopefully this means they’re selling, someone else can buy the space, and I can feel ok about going to after shows there again.

Please tell me someone recorded Roger Waters, Jack White, and Dolly Parton tonight. Wasn’t able to tune in at those times because life, but two of those sets were two of my all time favorite (and the third was in a year I didn’t go but heard only the best things).

Got it
I may need to hit you up for those 3 too. I screwed up my input yesterday and left it on microphone instead of stereo mix. Doh! I was so mad last night when I went back to listen to them and it was all blank except me talking on a work call. Uggghh.....
All set for today with some pre-recording testing to make sure I didn't screw things up.

Didn't quite get the sound pull set up the way I would have liked to, am trying to get set for tomorrow, but seems like folks are getting some good pulls. PM me if you need help breaking apart the tracks and naming them as best as I can, happy to help out!
Also, I'd love this bluegrass set ASAP, this is going to be on constant rotation for me haha!
I know it’s very important to keep the festival a one-time experience, but I’m guessing they could make a pretty penny if they let us buy a few of these old sets!

100%. I would empty my wallet for a vinyl pressing of this!
Damn could you imagine a box set of this weekend.... Shoo

Much more available to listen today thankfully. Y’all are right the sound quality is fantastic! Getting misty listening to the John Prine set and I just bought the Deer Ticket now that I know I have some wiggle room to watch. Wish I had bought Mavis, doesn’t look like you can get it after the fact.
After listening to the archive sets, I demand that they return to referring to the fest as “the program.”
There is nothing I don’t miss about the fest right now. I miss waiting in the parking lot, I miss the port a potties, I miss drinking boiling hot, smuggled in Jameson. I miss the buggy campground and the damp bathroom. I miss the fort, you people and the sunset behind the pell bridge. I miss my family and I miss live music.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT SUBSCRIPTION AND MEMBERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES THAT WILL PROVIDE EXCLUSIVE ACCESS TO EVEN MORE LEGENDARY PERFORMANCES.
I wonder if after this weekend some of the sets that we are getting parts or all of will he added to this page. I would gladly pay for it. Seems like if they went through all to effort to assemble 3 days of classic sets, it would make sense to make more use of them and drive more donations. At least i hope...
If not, count me in for whatever audio rip links you superheroes have captured this weekend!

Just popping in to say that this Our Native Daughters set was *fantastic*, and definitely my favorite of last year. If I recall correctly, they got a standing ovation after almost every song, and deserved the hell out of every single one of them.
Don’t know how long they’ll stick around but right now you can listen to everything on WFUV.org weekend archive.
Any chance you (or anyone) can provide a link to where this is? (Or to any other recordings from this weekend.) I am having trouble finding it. Thank you!

They’re not available anymore. They took down the Friday one and never posted Saturday’s.
Omigosh. Missed Native Daughters last year. I am Rhiannon crazed, but have seen her so many times -- including playing for eight of us under a tree -- that I caught another set. Thank you for this fantastic recording!!!

What a great weekend of music even though I had to experience it from home instead of at the fort. I only made it a few minutes into tonight's movie before I broke down crying. What triggered it was listening to Brandi Carlile singing Hallelujah watching past footage of John Prine then seeing John's name on the totem of great musicians who have passed away in front of an empty fort. Every year I stop by that totem to think about the past musicians who have played newport and are no longer around. And now John Prine's name is up there due to a virus that we could have controlled. It sucks.
My heart goes out to everyone who has been affected by this virus. Whether you have known someone who has gotten it or you are affected by our country's lack of empathy. This weekend's folk family events really emphasized how lucky I have been in this crisis

His name on the totem was what drove it home for me.
I absolutely love Jay and everyone that helps out the foundation each year. This weekend was about as good as they could have made it be for a remote replacement.
The one thing I wish was that Deer Tick had taken all of those video recordings they had done at the after parties a couple of years ago and put together a rowdy after party show too, but I know that’s just me being greedy.
Now to track down audio for Saturday and Sunday...
That last number was as emotional on TV as it would have been live at The Fort. I first heard "What the World Needs Now" when it was used as a theme song for a crummy 1968 (Mary Tyle Moore) film with a title that still speaks to me when I am down : What's So Bad About Feeling Good.
So many wonderful numbers, but I think I was most moved by Brandi and the video to open...James Taylor (what beautiful video editing, too); and omg...I was wiping my eyes, thinking we were done, and along came Goodnight Irene. It never sounded better. My wife teared up at the entry signs, I teared up watching Jay trying not to tear up.
I did expect something different -- backstage jamming and rehearsing, mostly. No harm, no foul; their copywriters just need to be more careful about Saturday "live events" and Sunday videos featuring "never-before-seen performances." Well, yeah, I guess so. But doesn't matter -- this was my Sunday closing set. Kudos to the video and sound editors. That was outstanding work I so needed this video. But now I want more.
Thank you Jay and Staff and all of you goofballs on this website for opening me to new sounds every year. See you back at the Fort and back here soon enough.
I thought Newport knocked it out of the park with all the content this weekend.
From what I caught radio wise, I thought the quality was great, both sound-wise and in set curation. Loved hearing the old blues stuff and old gospel stuff in the Sunday vibes set. All of the collaboration sets hold up really well. The only set I was a little disappointed about was Beck, I'm a big fan of his and there were some strong songs, but the set was pretty all over the place. I would have liked to hear the '65 Revisited or American Acoustic set in its place, but maybe they didn't want to include too many collaboration sets. Hoping to hear the Jack White, bluegrass and Beneath the Sacred Mountain sets again at some point. Sacred Mountain was one of my faves from 2018.
As for the videos, I watched Deer Tick and Our Voices Together, both of which, especially the latter, were excellent. I thought all the Deer Tick guests were solid, Ellis and Leon duetting Pancho and Left was unexpected and great. They did such a good job with Our Voices Together, beautiful shots of the fort, loved the signs driving into the Fort. It started off with a bang with Brandi doing Hallelujah. I also thought Courtney and Phoebe killed Everything is Free, What the World Needs Now was a great choice for the group singalong, and closing it out with a solo Goodnight Irene was the cherry on top.
I really appreciated the level of effort they put into this weekend, including Jay livetweeting all weekend. Like any good Newport weekend, I'm already looking forward to next year, except this time, I'm not absolutely exhausted on the following Monday.

If anyone has audio of Saturday and Sunday, please let me know. I have Friday, and Our Voices Together, which will only be streamable for another 8 hours or so.
