Start the Taylor Swift rumors. She’s playing festivals next summer. And will be in Boston (Foxborough) and available for Sunday.
She's not playing festivals. She's doing two-night runs at two venues and calling it Lover Fest East and West. It's her own thing. Her reported issue with festivals has been lack of control over every aspect of the performance

She did announce some international fests.
Oh damn, weird. I apologize then. But yeah those are her only US dates

The Lover fests are her only U.S. dates in 2020.
I’d assume she’d be an unannounced surprise act if she ever played, and she’d do it for her own personal marketing. Thus, she could play and it wouldn’t conflict with the “only US dates” thing.

That said, I’m not trying to make fetch happen.
I’ll allow it if this means HAIM plays.
Actually I’ve thought several times that I’d be fine if they did a day that went full “updated Lilith fair”. Like bring Sarah McLachlan and Amy Mann and get Tracy Chapman and then a bunch of the younger artists. Throw in some more of those 90s one hit wonders like Shawn Colvin. Also bring Sheryl Crow back because it sounds like she killed and I missed her. Taylor Swift headlines and I probably leave early for an after show but still cool.
He's been mentioned here before, but I had a chance to see Craig Finn last night at a house show in Baltimore. The current iteration of his band would do really well at Newport. The recorded versions feature Josh Kaufman and Joe Russo, plus he's got Stuart Bogie (from Arcade Fire's touring band) traveling with him right now to play all sorts of woodwinds. Good stuff.
Highly recommend the new albums from Brittany Howard and Hiss Golden Messenger out today.
But also some great recent records for more left field artists I'd love to see at Newport: Chelsea Wolfe - Birth of Violence Babe Rainbow - Today (Sandy) Alex G - House of Sugar Twin Peaks - Lookout Low
Matt Berninger teamed up with all-star lineup Carin Besser, Phoebe Bridgers, Mike Brewer, Walter Martin, and Matt Barrick to create the track "Walking on a String" for Between Two Ferns: The Movie. You can watch them perform the song in the film, which is out today on Netflix, and the song will be released on Dead Oceans on October 17th.
Looks like this guy is already huge in Scotland and now breaking out to the rest of the UK. Catching on in Ireland too where I heard him on Irish radio today. Great folk songs sung in the Scottish accent. Looks super fun live at festivals. Can definitely see him playing Newport one of these days.
Not sure if this has been mentioned or previously announced, but Lucius, Son Little, and Miya Folick are playing the Folkin Friends showcase at Lagunitas.
I mention this because Miya Folick seems to be a new folk friend.
Listening to her for the first time and I’m already a fan- hopefully she makes the lineup this summer.

Strong Annie Lenox vibe based on my initial listens. I like it. Thanks for sharing.
Boston's Hallelujah The Hills has been the city's most underrated band since 2005, and the buzz around their new, soon-to-be-released album is incredible. They occupy one of those rock and roll niches which would work at Newport, and it's absolutely the most appropriate place in the world for them to perform this song:
Carole King on Fallon last night with The Roots. Rachael Price was one of her backing singers. She has definitely still got it! I never realized how many major hits she helped write for major stars in the 60s. She will perform with many others at the Global Citizen concert at Central Park this weekend.
