If Stipe ends up touring behind his solo album, I think we can assume that Newport will at least attempt that booking. Pretty sure I’ve seen mention of Jay wanting R.E.M....this is next best.
Radio: Plays new song called Lover. Me: That's a good song. Sound like a new artist. I'll ask Google what i'm listening to. Google: Lover by Taylor Swift Me: Dammit
Elton John is a big admirer of Kacey and Brandi. He had an interview with Kacey previously and an interview with Brandi that's coming out today. I'd love to see a collaboration between them.
Edit... Today Elton shared a picture of him and Joni Michelle backstage at Brandi's performance of Joni's Blue album and was raving about her performance. Dare we dream of some form of this at Newport.

Yeah Matt Vasquez said at a solo show about a year ago that Delta spirit would be getting together to do some things in the next year or so. He dedicated a song to Kelly from Delta spirit who was in the crowd. I bet they have something new for 2020
So....what are people’s thoughts of RATM as a Newport headliner?
Love Rage but I don't feel like it's something I need at Newport, I also don't feel like it's something that has real potential to be booked.
Do you imagine them changing their style for a Newport set or still going balls to the wall for a crowd of people in beach chairs? Because either way I just don't know that I see it
positive counterpoint: we'll prob get nearly all of that (or have in past 3 years) and it will only be half of the amazingness we receive at the fort this summer
Brittany Howard, Andrew Bird, Drive-By Truckers, Rufus Wainwright, SVE, Angel, Delta Spirit, and Strand of Oaks are all very welcome back at Newport any year please and thank you
Hmm. Newport might be a harder make for me this year and I’ve been wanting an excuse to go to Charleston... The +1 loves Wilco and Alabama Shakes, so this wouldn’t take too much convincing.
I was wondering if Wilder Woods might make Newport’s lineup this year. From the little I’ve heard, I like this project more than Needtobreathe.
Just got my member pre-sale email, presale is Nov 21-Dec 2
Nice! Just came here to say this. It still feels like we were just at the Fort, but maybe one of the best things about this festival is that we're so close to the whole cycle starting over again.
On this note, i think it is time to start thinking about Bingo again. As we got caught off guard last year by the early announcements, I want to suggest that you can enter an entry any time starting today. You can continue to update that entry up to the time that the first artist is announced.
You can either submit 48 artists to me and I will make the card randomly or you can submit them in the order you want to use for your card. Once they're all in, I'll post them all on the page for everyone to see. (Messaging them to me first just helps everyone have an equal chance, so no one can get ideas from cards posted before them)
If you submit an entry after an announcement is made it can not include the announced artist (seems obvious.) Last year the first artist was announced on December 4th, so let's make Monday, December 2nd our deadline for entries this year.
Winner is whoever gets a full line of 7 on the bingo card first, or, more likely, whoever ends up with the most Bingo guesses right at the end of the lineup announcements. Suprise guests are not officially included, but officially announced after shows will be. Only acts that are officially announced by Newport Folk are included.
Pres Hall will be the free spot unless you want to replace it with something else. Pres Hall can not be a non-free spot.

Looks like The National are bringing back their Homecoming Festival this year (probably April but no official dates yet). I'm guessing there will be some crossover between that lineup and Newport.
I’ve seen it before but I forgot what Newport thread it was on. It was like an appearance on Tiny Desk, plus an appearance on one of two other radio stations equals an almost certain Newport booking.
