300 is probably a good enough sample size, this type of surveying is just not conducive to getting good results though. There are people who just trash Coachella on the internet to own the libs or something and there’s no saying if people who actually attend the fest are answering it or if it’s people who just like to be angry on the internet

Also, are Yahoo readers the sort of people who would be a good sampling pool? As KPO said, people who've never been to Coachella love to rag on it online because "LOL INSTA INFLUENCERZ!"

People’s opinions are gonna change dramatically as time goes on. Right now I’d say I’m comfortable going in April, but obviously that could change completely depending on how things look in April. If there’s really a vaccine in early 2021 I’m sure a lot of those “never again” votes will disappear. Etc etc
Strong majority of those people have never been to Coachella. Poll the annual goers and I'm sure very, very, few would vote for "not sure if I'd attend again"

Of course people who regularly attend festivals will likely come back, I’m more curious about the crowd who will likely only go 2-3 times in their lifetime. I assume a majority of almost any festival crowd will only end up going just a handful of times at most. Most don’t regularly go to festivals like us.
So yes, a poll on Yahoo may be skewed but it would be skewed on something like the Coachella subreddit too.
Initial email sent out for passholders. You can swap weekends if you like. And more harrowing wordplay in the email. New wristbands, likely january line up i would say and them not sounding firm on April. 30 days to get a refund starting today.
“ Your 2020 purchase is good for the new dates and you will receive information about the new lineup, 2021 wristbands and other order details closer to the show.”
“ . We can’t wait to be together in the desert again when it is safe.”

No surprise that they will try and do something in October too if April works out. They are going to to be looking for every opportunity they can to recoup losses from this year. Maybe this whole lockdown will bring together some acts that haven’t played together for a very long time. Wouldn’t be surprised if they went with a bunch of huge nostalgia acts from the 80s if they can grab them.

You understand they want to do this in 4 months, not 16 months, right? The article does not specify 2021, thats the shocking thing. Unless that writer is as dumb as a rock and thats what they meant.
Edit: the video interview with the mayor just before the 3 minute mark gets asked, and talks about this year. And yeah, money play for the city.

I just totally assumed they were talking about 2021.

The only possible explanation I can think of is fewer acts = easier coordination (especially if it's, like, 6 acts), and reduced attendance = slightly higher chance of happening? Definitely weird though.

It seems like they full on still want to have a music festival in October, they just don't want it to have the Coachella name behind it for one of a couple reasons like - what if it goes bad with a virus spike? Don't want it to have that stain on the Coachella name, but a one time new festival? They may take that risk. Due to possible restrictions, they can't put on "full Coachella" and would rather name it something else entirely instead of having a half-assed Coachella on the records.

the headline would still be "Goldenvoice, Coachella promoter". They are talking about October 2021 for sure. It's already June.

Unfortunately taking the refund for now. If they come back with a line-up as good as 2020, I could easily be in. But the future is too uncertain and I'm looking forward to getting $1,000 back.
I’m sure there are some that weren’t considering going back regardless but this was something I thought about concerning this pandemic. I think this whole pandemic has scared some people so bad, a good chunk of them still won’t go back into the world as normal even after a vaccine is widely available. The lasting mental affects this has had on some people might make them permanently uncomfortable to venture out into huge crowds like this again or at least for a long time.
some people: not comfortable returning to a festival even after a vaccine
me: shooting the vaccine into my neck as i'm making my way through bag search

ya I would classify myself currently as someone who the pandemic has scared very badly but when that shot is available, its game on lol
The guidelines for Phase 4 say there just needs to be “treatment” which doesnt mandate there be a vaccine. So if for example, the steroid thats being tested at Oxford is viable and is proven to be effective, itll be enough. At least Hydrocxyhloroquine Is off the CDC list now.

No it won’t be because it’s only being used on people who are hospitalized and on a ventilator. The treatment doesn’t prevent people from being hospitalized therefore we still have to worry about hospital hitting capacity when outbreaks flair up.
I wouldn't rush to take the first vaccine available, personally, gotta see it's effect first and if it's actually reliable
Phase three clinical trails. We are about to enter them on at least two vaccines. And after that health care workers will get it. If we survive and don’t grow horns or a tail, you are good to go.
As far as effectiveness, they will be ecstatic with a 75% effective rate.
