I mean, if it's available to book right now, I'd go ahead and book some refundable hotel rooms.
Gonna have to wait until its actually October to get the jump on hotels. No hotel chain is opening up bookings farther than their typical 11 month or 12 month advance. Even expedia which is 15 months does not have open hotels, just resorts and rentals. Gonna be tricky with finding places that offer free cancel and reserve in advance.
I saw Hyatt is taking reservations through next August, so we are getting close.
Also, the King Gizz dates could align well with them headlining Desert Daze if Coachella happens in April.
Yeah, I thought about that while looking at the poster. BUT, the weekend before the tour starts is there for them to play Coachella if they like. So we could be looking at total overlap with ACL, which is just plain weird. Maybe theyre just off the line up because they would rather not rebook this for April given the current state of things and still fulfill their touring commitments with AEG and take the loss.
TSwift is totally gonna replace Frank isn’t she:/ Or we could have the best headliners since the original 2017 headliners if she replaced Travis
why wouldn’t she just do her own fest that was supposed to happen this year?
Frank was never even gonna play this year and you know it.
Cause she probably signed contracts to have those stadium shows this year and then u.s festivals next year. The timing is all there if things were normal. There isnt a scenario where she wasnt going to do the major fests here after having all that she booked in europe. Plus it seems she is not even crossing the atlantic next year and will go there in 2022 instead, likely due to those commitments. Considering those solo shows are “sold out”, there isnt going to be an issue with Coachella having her and then however later in the year has those dates. ( since they are aeg shows anyway ) Still have to consider that radius clauses arent going to be what they were just for this next festival cycle. Everyone needs to make money to recover as fast as possible, so everyone will just reapl the rewards of having a high profile booking like Taylor on their poster.
Edit: Hayley Williams is likely to cancel her tour. But is receiving festival offers and is looking into it, sounds sorta promising.
There's almost no way she doesn't end up at Coachella imo (although it's messed up that Paramore has never been booked for it, I'm holding out hope that her tour is good to go and they book full Paramore for Coachella). Wonder what slot she would get. Maybe 2nd to last on the Outdoor. Somewhere to the middle end of the second line.
I think first name on the 3rd line is probably as high as she gets. ( I would say mid 3rd line is more likely ) And im sure Paramore will be in more demand for the festival circuit on their next album. They were top 10 overall at Bonnaroo 3 years ago and probably headline Riot Fest if Jawbreaker wasnt reunited. Also they couldve had an offer in priors years and said no.

Forgive me if I'm not exactly the most knowledgeable about Paramore, but it seemed like in the 2000's/early 2010's, they were more associated with the Fall Out Boy's and Panic of the Disco's of the emo rock radio world that Coachella generally stayed away from booking, but would secure a spot on the Hot Topic Honda Civic tour or whatever, plus any and every KROQ show. With their turn toward more straight-up pop, I feel a Paramore booking is a lot more likely these days than it used to be.
I'd only put her higher up because of name recognition/the cult following of Paramore fans that would pack out her set. But only one album, 3rd album would be right too.
Yeah Coachella didn't book those types of bands back then, which was a huge missed opportunity. But especially after the MCR demand, I'm sure they'll start retroactively booking them.

They booked the non radio acts like Thursday, Brand New, Coheed and Cambria, Thrice, Circa Survive, Anthony Green, City and Colour etc. It wasn’t that they didn’t look at the Warped Tour Bands, they just didnt give into the mainstream ones per say. AFI, Social D, Bad Religion and Rancid are punk royalty and the Refused reunion was the highest billing for anyone of that scene has even gotten. Paramore couldve just said no to an offer, but who knows. I think thats the hardest thing for people in general to understand as to why they dont get certain acts. Not as if they dont try, but if they turn it down, its as if they were never sought out at all. I think they wouldve fit perfectly fine at the festival at their peak, it just didnt materialize. And Paramore has never done a GV tour either, theyve been LN for pretty much the whole time.
Anyway, the Hayley Williams tour has been officially cancelled, emails are going out to all ticket holders. Sad times.

I did a bit of searching in the 2020 thread, but figured I'd just post as an open question: what are everyone's preferred hotels to book if they're able? I'm hoping to keep tabs on October dates and book early, obviously anything on a shuttle line is good but wasn't sure if some hotels are better than others.
Haven't been on here very much but obviously this year has just been devastating.
That being said have we all (in the US) been to www.SaveOurStages.com and sent our letters to Congress? Called our representatives? Even though it's geared towards independent venues, I see this as all very relevant to Coachella.

Yeah, assuming most of the same acts are booked, whose poster placement gets shuffled? Roddy Ricch moves up to second line, Megan is now 3rd name on her day at worst, and Doja Cat is no longer in that tiny font. Meanwhile, I read surprisingly little buzz about the latest Caribou, who might move down.

We have stayed at three Palm Desert hotels over the years -- Holiday Inn Express, Embassy Suites, Best Western -- and all three were perfect for the festival. They're steps from the Albertson's shuttle stop, which is a pretty short ride in to the fest, and have breakfast included, have refrigerators in the rooms, and have decent pools/jacuzzis. The Embassy Suites was the nicest of the three, but I'd go with any of them if I could get a good price.

I could see Lewis Capaldi and Charli XCX moving up. I feel like DaBaby's profile has grown even bigger with Rockstar being the song of the summer and all, but I don't know that they would put him before 21 Savage or that they would put him in front of Elfman and have two rappers next to each other on a top line.

Yeah, the Holiday Inn and Embassy are really good cause of the shuttle stop and there was a Domino’s pizza thats actually open late if you needed something other than 24hr drive thru stuff.
Homewood Suites in Palm Desert is also a shuttle stop hotel. They had good rates for April/Oct this year and was pretty upset I missed out on staying there.
In Palm Springs theres a Best Western thats 2 blocks from the Convention Center which is a shuttle stop. Its also a park and ride if you had to drive.

Problem is not everybody can be on the 2nd line so either some of these artists get demoted to lower lines (I don’t see that happening) or they’re just off the lineup.

I don’t really know what the point of going for the same lineup is at this point. Keep Rage and Frank, and a handful of other top acts that would merit being there regardless of any trends or tours or albums, but otherwise they might as well just treat it as a fresh year, or they’ll risk appearing outdated. Half of people returned their original tickets anyway. The other half are in it for Coachella more than the lineup, I’d imagine.
And that’s before you get into the (in my opinion) at least 50% chance it’s delayed to October or later again.
