Well then Kanye, Cardi B, Rosalia, Travis Scott headlining I reckon.
They didn’t have a band headline in 2018. Wouldn’t be weird to miss one again in the future.
I reckon a headliner set like would probably piss people off here but sell a ton of tickets.
Yeah, I don’t need a band to headline, but I might end up skipping for the first time in 15 years if that’s the top line. Even if the undercard was great, the crowds for those undercard sets would suck.

Losing rage is just a huge blow. I feel like they will instead go for easy ticket shifters.
As much as I welcome the Kanye booking it does feel a bit weird and out of place. I wonder if he approached the organisers because he has some kind of plan for a show. Idk it seems a bit strange to go for both Kanye and Travis in one year unless both of those artists fell into their lap.
It does worry me thought how close we are getting to Coachella ditching the band headliner.
Also FWIW I've seen a rumor that Rage are dropping their festival dates. I don't know the legitimacy of that but it is worth noting that Reading & Leeds is listed as a 2021 festival on Rage's site yet R&L recently just announced their 6 headliners and Rage ain't one of them.
Heard something similar.
Where does the Adele thing come from? Travis seems to be the most likely to return, I could see him drop an album around the time of the festival tbh. It would be 3 years since Astroworld at that point so.
Some dude on eFestivals who gets tips said they’re pushing hard for her and he said he thinks it’s gonna happen. Also the Rosalía bit I’m pretty sure was from truevine and I read that as a prediction, not a confirmation.
I do think Travis still has a very good chance to return but in my mock scenario, he’d be the odd man out with Adele, Kanye and Frank as bigger priorities. Pushing Travis out might seem unlikely but this is the same festival who pushed Timberlake out and dropped MCR while still paying their headliner fee so I wouldn’t put it past Coachella to do it again if something better came along.

It doesn’t surprise me that Coachella has been pushing hard for Adele. I reckon they’ve probably been on the phone to her since her Glastonbury headline slot (probably even before).
I reckon Adele will headline one year but at the right time and place. I think the pandemic has probably pushed her album back a bit. I’d be surprised if it came out before winter 2021.
Adele and Frank at the same festival would be amazing <3 two of my favorites who I haven't seen live yet. Throw in Travis and that's a heavy headline line up, but I don't know if any of them would be down for the Friday slot?

Theyve wanted Adele since 2008, its nothing new. It fits her criteria of not wanting to tour again but still get paid.

So does this mean anybody who isn't blurred out on the III Points lineup is out for Coachella? If so, that would mean Bedouin, Crumb, Alex G, Channel Tres and Satori are out.

Some smaller names could still be in. Like if Frank is still in (please please please) I imagine Alex G is still in

It's still wild for me to even do the mental gymnastics of imagining this festival successfully happening in April. Maybe I'm afraid of setting myself up for disappointment again?

April is too early, no reason for GV to try to rush it.
They should just do next October. Even next October isn’t going to be 100% guaranteed, but I would think it should likely happen

I don't think there's a fly's chance in hell of this happening in April.
I also don't think it's remotely likely that Bruce Springsteen was ever booked for Coachella, but he did reveal in his recent Rolling Stone article that his tour with the E Street Band was originally meant to kick off Spring 2021.

Are there actually people who think that an April Coachella has a chance of happening?

The Dallas Cowboys had 20k people willing to go inside ATT Stadium on Sunday. I think the demand will be there for an April Coachella, even if I wouldn't go myself. The question is if Gavin Newsom allows it or not. I'd lean toward no but I can see a world where April Coachella happens.

No, but we are going to talk about it like it is. It gives us hope. Thanks for stomping on our dreams.

It’ll be interesting to see how announcing a line up in January for October plays out. Secondary market is going to be very soft next year no matter who they book.
I mean right now there is something that favors Coachella. There arent revised guidelines for re opening large scale places/events. Disneyland has been haggling california to get some clarity on what they have to do to re open and I would assume it would certainly apply to festivals. So there could be some changes made to the criteria. And for the moment, Riverside County is out of the Purple designation and into the Red.
