Except Sturgis didn’t end up being a “super-spreader” event
The South Dakota Department of Health has reported 124 cases linked to the Sturgis rally through contact tracing. A Washington Post survey of health departments found an additional 204 rally-linked cases in 20 states.
300 isn’t a lot? And that’s just attendees, not people they gave it to. Not sure Coachella wants to be in the position of explaining “no actually, only a few hundred people got sick at the festival, and frankly we can’t reliably estimate how many people *they* gave it to.”
461k people over 10 days in full “F covid” mode? No. 300 is not a lot.
Plus it’s not like these people would have been 100% isolated had they not been there. They would have been at work, shopping, etc. so it’s not 300. It’s 300 less what it would have been in the ordinary course of life
Also, CNN or Washington Post would have enjoyed nothing more to linking as many cases to Sturgis as possible and they can’t do it

South Dakota currently has one of the highest per capita infection rates in America. Kinda hard to buy into their “everything is great here” narrative.
And besides, even if you believe Sturgis is a myth made up by liberals to own Donald Trump, bad press is bad press and that’s exactly the type of shit Coachella doesn’t need. They have an enormous target on their back as it is.
I’m not exactly sure why a dissenting point of view that uses statistics and a decent amount of logic is not worth hearing. I assure you my Academic credentials suggest I am not dumb.

You don’t have a degree in epidemiology or a related discipline?

Negative. As a majority of the population does not. But I do read the internal revenue code and treasury regulations on the daily, generally not considered to be light reading. I confident in my ability to read data and make reasonable decisions. So far my career has affirmed that ability.
Surprised Trump hasn’t named you head of the CDC yet
Waiting for the invite. In any event all I noted was that Sturgis ended up statistically being not nearly what it was pro ported to be. Festivals won’t be either
And no. The California based Coachella will not be the first back. Obviously.

Shitheads aside, Coachella is by far the most scrutinized festival in the US (and possibly the world). Who in their right mind would believe Coachella would try to go on while still in a pandemic with no vaccine widely available? We saw how much Sturgis got roasted. The media would have an absolute field day if Coachella happened with these numbers we have.

4.0 in every school is laugh out loud funny. Dude has never gotten an A- in his life.

What's been annoying about your posts these last several months is that it never seems like you're talking about ways to safely hold a large scale festival. It comes across like you're spitballing ways that Coachella can operate in compliance with current Covid restrictions and return as soon as possible. The latter doesn't really have anything to do with safety, it's just the appearance of safety. It's checking boxes.
If we're going to put business first and not really give a shit about safety, consider the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Possibly the single biggest super spreader event we've had in the US, and it's generated tons of awful press. Does AEG/GV want a mountain of bad press if they go through with an April festival that gets linked to thousands of new cases? Why not just push to October? Nobody wants to be Smash Mouth (fearandparanoia excepted).

If the liberal news media outlets would’ve been able to pin mass death or destruction as a result of the Sturgis event they would have done it. The very pro Trump anti-woke crowd are perfect fodder for them. And yet you haven’t really heard a thing about the aftermath
Don’t really care about Coachella. Their lineups never appeal to me.
