It's hard to imagine they will be able to find any up and coming acts if they move it to 2022. Who will take up a music career with no shows possible throughout 2020/2021?
This concerns me but I'm hopeful that it won't be too much of a problem. Anyone now can start up a project and gain a following online without playing a single show. If anything it would build anticipation for live debuts for any acts that gain buzz in this period.

I actually want to camp to try it, but most of my friends don't. I also don't have an IG, so I could care less about my social media
My pros and cons are the same as most peoples I assume.
Pros of hotel/villa/airbnb: Can sleep better and wake up later. Helps keep you more energized for the day AC Better bathroom and shower More space Have a kitchen/grill so we can cook when we want. Have a fridge. Saves some money instead of buying multiple meals too. Also can eat healthier if you want. We can bring in alcohol freely. I assume it is easy to bring it in anyways, but you can set up things easier in a room with a fridge and tables. Don't have to set everything up Also need to ice my knees from some prior knee injury, still gets inflamed. Easier to do in a hotel
Cons: Further away from the festival. 45 minutes to arrive, 30-60 min wait for the shuttles at late night (around 1-2am). So that is a waste of time You do miss being a part of the festival and meeting new people around you and having a different experience. Bit pricier to get a hotel/airbnb. But it helps to have a group of 5-8 people to split things and not a huge issue for me

I’ve done both and am fairly agnostic about which is better. I would definitely camp over taking a shuttle out to Palm Springs, but I’ve always managed to get a decent deal at someplace convenient
"That decision is expected to be made after Election Day on Nov. 3 but before the end of the year". Wonder if the hotels got out in front of it trying to get people to book rooms when they come online this week and next week
This is pretty much just lip service by GV/AEG. Of course they’re going to say it’s still planned for April until it’s not. I can’t imagine anybody in their right mind over there actually thinking it’s going to happen in April.

I’ve camped twice, in 2005 and 2012, and they were awful experiences for me (though I’ll admit I didn’t do a great job either time on a few levels). Hate all you want, but give me a pool to recover in and a bed to sleep on all day.

Why was it bad?
I want to be prepared if I ever do camp, been trying to convince my group to do it once
Camping requires a lot of prep, and preferably a nice cot and tent combo. Camp stove, big cooler, proper shading is pretty essential.
If you have a good group of people it’s a ton of fun. Most of our neighbors have become friends each year as well. Day zero ends up being a really fun bonus to camping.
I understand the appeal of the hotel, but we don’t plan to take that option for several years. There is nothing like walking back, cracking a beer, and discussing the day with your friends and neighbors (without a shuttle ride or taxi to kill the buzz)
I would always go the hotel route here. It’s nice to wake up in an actual bed, have a real shower, hang by the pool, or catch a nice brunch before the festival. I camped once. I doubt I would do it again. Palm Springs is a very easy drive and traffic/parking really isn’t much of an issue.
camped all four years i've been, but that was in my early-mid 20's, and as much as i'd love to be in the thick of the party I just can't hang anymore, and a pool and AC sounds amazing.

There's really only 2 reasons why I still camp.
1. My group has been running around 15+ people deep lately, and its way more affordable for everyone to camp.
2. I don't want to have to worry about how I'm getting back to my hotel after putting whatever substances into my body.
I used to do the hotel thing before we got a solid coachella squad going, and I do miss how comfortable it is, but until my friends and I can afford to rent a house for the weekend, I'll keep suffering those hot coachella mornings.
Staying at a hotel and driving yourself to the fest is the best option if someone in your group will be ok to drive at the end of the night. This is not my opinion. This is fact.

FWIW the airbnbs were semi reasonable for the October dates last time I checked

Watch out for Airbnb's, the hosts will likely cancel once they realize the dates have changed

You guys can likely definitely afford an airbnb or a 2 bedroom villa and split it with all those people
I feel like I need to go with a couple people who have camped before to do it well
