For anyone looking for hotel for October seems like this Hilton has not blocked out the dates. Just snagged oct 7 -11 2021 for under $600. There was availability at Holiday Inn's but the rates were jacked up and Marriott has everything but the JW blocked out.
If we are assuming the statement of them having the first 3 weekends of october are blocked off, then yes.
And that Hilton was on hotels.com for a while except that you could only get that rate if you paid in advance. They were asking $500 a night if you wanted to pay at the property on there.
The Miramonte in Indian Wells is across the street from a shuttle stop and going for $156/night with free cancellation on hotels.com for the first weekend of October. There may be a resort fee on top of that but it's still a good deal. Recent reviews haven't been so great but it looks like they might be closed for renovations. We stayed there like 10 years ago and it was really nice back then.

Obviously this has no real impact on Coachella occurring, but I found it interesting that M3F in Phoenix announced its dates for early March 2021 today. Last year had Bon Iver and Rufus Du Sol as the headliners.

Too early
Miracle if normal people can get a vaccine by then even
Great news for festivals and normal life so far, but also need to pump the brakes a bit. Need to see safety data, how long it is effective for, how many doses, and the rollout
Here is another thing, the trial was for 18-65 year olds. Not 70-80 year olds, who need it most

Druid said Phase Three included some people over 65. I think they just didn't want to include high-risk people early in the process.
Correct. There were no age restrictions for phase three trials. That’s the whole point. To use it on a portion of people that represent the general population.
Just cause they released 2 new songs that constitutes a whole new headliner thought process? I think the next “rock” band that ends up at Coachella is Foo Fighters. They at least are releasing new records every few years and have about a dozen big songs vs for a show vs SOAD have 3 songs at the most which people know. And you forget they have 2 LA area shows ( in May ) with LN if you even wanted to entertain the radius clause. Hell, Foo Fighters are on the cusp of being seen as a legacy act.

Itll come with a new line up poster I guess. Wish they would send us the original 2020 one. Still want it fir the collection.
So zero discussion to be had on Ticketmaster Covid plan? Too invasive on health info? Gonna screw over everyone with higher prices? Pinning artists into corners who might not want all this? At least GV can see what theyre planning and adjust theirs accordingly.

1. People complaining about the invasiveness probably own iPhones and use Google. This is nothing new. Idk, the whole freedom crowd has made this process exponentially worse. Idc about GV knowing I got a vaccine, I prefer it 2. Based on my experience, the tests have become kinda cheap, like $5. Can’t see it driving prices up that much. 3. Idk what you’re saying here.

Thus far the industry is responding rather negatively. Putting that data in the hands of a company like TicketMaster/LiveNation (even though they claim they aren't "storing" it) is incredibly risky.
In addition, ticket transfer ability is still a huge issue, and how are you going to verify that the person in front of you is indeed the ticket buyer? Likely by checking an ID which would increase staff levels at the venue as well as wait times for patrons.
Finally - State and Local Governments will have a field day with lawsuits, particularly from more conservative parts of the country.
I personally don't see this happening, and at the moment appears just to be an exploratory measure. I will be interested to see what comes from it.

Given it's fully opt-in, I can't imagine complaints about invasiveness. Don't want to do it? You don't get to go to a show. Your choice.
I think it's a good plan but requires a major improvement in our testing abilities. It's still unnecessarily difficult to get same day test results back. We need daily rapid tests for every person in America; thankfully this is something I've seen Vivek Murthy (Biden's taskforce head) talk about the need for as well, so hopefully after January we can make some progress on that.

Ya I mean I think this will likely be something thats gonna occur at a ton of stores, restaurants, etc. Business is incredibly excited about the vaccine bringing life back to normal, and if thats the case I think they will get the conservatives in line
The whole mindset of "we shouldn't do the right thing because the right wing will get mad" is exactly what got us here. It's defeatist and stupid and they don't extend that courtesy to the left. I am tired of having to deal with that argument at the expense of hundreds of thousands of American lives and the long term economic downfall that's going to come from this.
