Aside from potentially being a logistical nightmare for GV, why wouldn't they ask for proof of vaccination if they were determined to have a festival this year? Assuming the vaccine is easily accessible by October.

I think you answered the question in your opening line.
yeah, that's not how things work, especially in 2021.
Lets see, I would bet 2021 happens
Considering social media just banned the president (rightfully so), I think private businesses still have some power to say if you don't like it, don't use it/come.
Yes I understand this scenario is different since it entails people seeing each other, but considering most Americans will have had or will have had the option to be vaccinated by OCTOBER (9 months away...), I think this happens
I am more optimistic of vaccines being distributed in the next few months, especially with Biden coming in
I think if the conditions that Drumpf says exist in October and GV enacts a vaccine or bust attendance rule this should be fine.
A lot of what is holding this back is public perception as well. I highly doubt that the top execs would still want to be closed down if they didn’t think they would get eviscerated for doing so. I’d say it’s a near impossibility that concerts in a more traditional capacity don’t return this summer upon relatively widespread vaccination and I’d assume LN/AEG will not be the first to make those moves. Restaurant closures are pretty unpopular so I could see similar messaging around the music industry if there truly is significantly better conditions.
The vaccine isn’t going to be perfect and I almost guarantee that America will continue to fumble this but unless there is extremely robust PPP passed (better than SOS) then the industry is probably going to return safe or not.
For the record I’m not advocating for this. Just not refuting the idea nine months out when positive change does seem to be on the horizon. It’s been a tough year where pretty much everything went wrong so I get the hesitation in getting your hopes up.

Even if we hit the herd immunity threshold, I'm willing to bet festivals will still get criticism for returning the first year regardless.
Considering that theyre at ~60% tickets sold with all the refunds, it will be easier to just keep the reduced cap and require vaccinations or you dont go. They can just not sell more tickets and then go back to full force in 2022.

What matters more?
A) Losing a ton of money b/c you had no more shows for another and many artists and related businesses going out of business
B) Not pissing off opinion writers about hosting a festival after basically having herd immunity and having vaccines available to the public
Tough one
Opinion writers literally will complain about everything.
O only 1 out of 3 headliners are a woman? Why not all 3 or at least the majority? Even if the timing doesn't make sense

Jack fucking sucks. Mystery solved.
I can appreciate a mint julep on a hot summer's day but it should be based on something from McConnell Country. I'm probably looking at a drink with gin or tequila, though. Go-to refreshing cocktail is an Eastside.

Actually, on the menu Jameson was listed as "Jameson Irish Whiskey" and the Jack was just listed as "Bourbon Whiskey" without mentioning the brand for whatever reason. It was also $1 more which could explain why Jameson sold more than Jack.

FWIW, Governors Ball announced its dates for September 24-26. They also said lineup coming soon on the twitter post. If Coachella still wants to be first, then they can't be that far from dropping their lineup too.

jameson is my least favorite liquor and it's at every festival, and I always feel like they're giving it away
And Heineken. I don't understand how Heineken got such a stranglehold on the festival space as the "cheap" beer du jour.
Heineken and Budweiser seem to be the go to beers for live events when they're looking for a beer sponsor. I'll take Heineken over a Budweiser all day. That's one of the gripes I've never gotten about Coachella. Would it be nice if there were more places to grab a craft beer? Yea, but the barn has the best selection of any festival I've been too. Having a KBS at a festival isn't something I thought I'd be able to do without sneaking one in. Dogfish at Firefly and Great Lakes at Pitchfork were probably the next best things.

Oh don't get me wrong, I love the craft beer selection and also find the pricing remarkably fair given the price of a Heieneken. I'm not asking for craft beer everywhere. I just really think Heineken is ass, the worst cheap beer, and I'm always amazed how dominant it is at festivals.

Maybe Budweiser was signed on and then Woodstock 99 went down, so they didnt want to risk having their names tacked onto another festival? The first poster never indicated any sponsorship unless the flyers or ads in the LA Weekly and such did have that on there.

Not saying you were, a lot of people do though. I honestly don't mind Heineken. I'm not ordering one if I have choices, but I'm into more than any domestic big chain beer. Could be the fact I associate having Heineken with music festivals.
