Even with an October green light there will be a ton of fine print.
US only is a big one if Coachella is upwards of 20% international(mostly Canadian who go down in by the commercial plane load). Same goes for booking acts.
GV would have to offer no questions asked refunds for previous buyers and post lineup buyers. Vaccine issues/country issues/cash broke issues.
Are kids under a certain age or pregnant/nursing women banned from the crowd/backstage since doctors aren't currently recommending usage?
Lineup will be lower rent to protect AEG a bit from over extending itself. I can't see this doing more than 75k for a double weekend.

This is an interesting note. Although, considering how rapid the original vaccine was cycled through (like 9 months) and with the pregnancy/underage trails having started a couple months ago, I assume those results will be in well before October(?) Regardless, I would imagine this is where the potential waiver/liability angle comes into play.
I thought bourbon had to be made in Kentucky? Jack is made in TN.
It must be made in the United States. Contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t have to be made in Kentucky, although 95 percent of the world’s supply is.
I used to do the Jack and Back bike ride for MS. After biking 50 miles to Lynchburg, we would party. That included drinking all the Jack we wanted. The catch was, you had to ride the 50 miles back the next day. Those fast fuckers would pass me on the ride going down, but I passed them coming back laughing all the way because I never drank that shit.
Bourbon is:
1) made in the USA.
2) 51% or more corn
3) aged in new charred oak barrels
Then there's some math-y stuff, but it's less important.
The determination that bourbon barrels must be *new* by American export law is actually pretty stupid, and useless, but is of some consequence. Most imported varieties of whiskey don't require that the barrels be brand new, so it's very common for, for example, Scotch brands to buy and reuse barrels from the US for the purpose of aging their product. Some of the best Scotch whiskies you'll ever taste might have been aged in what is still branded as an Evan Williams barrel. Only in America is there any concern as to where the barrel originated.
But yeah, most of the shit comes from Kentucky, good and bad. Jack is awful. I'd rather drink E-Dubs.
Side note: I once overheard a bartender talking about Jim Beam doing corporate espionage to Blanton's (a top-shelf bourbon with high-end marketing and product placement in Hollywood cinema films like Gone Girl) so that they could make Jim Beam Black. Black is pretty good! Spring for Blanton's if you feel the spirit, though.

I don't think the HDD article is based on any new information.
Travis Scott, for instance, emerged last year as an endorsement juggernaut. Deals with Fortnite, McDonald’s, Nike and PlayStation earned Cactus Jack $100m over the course of 2020. Add Netflix and a headlining gig at the next Coachella, and the Epic superstar had every medium covered. He finished the year rolling out a new canned spritzer beverage, CACTI.
"While neither of these A-list events has officially announced its 2021 lineup, more than 80% of the artists booked were originally confirmed for the cancelled 2020 editions"

Really surprised they aren’t saying anything. I mean we know it’s not happening so they could just say that. Makes me think they are looking at April 2022 so to not postpone again

I think this is exactly it. They’re trying to avoid two more postponements.
Theyre probably waiting to see better projections of the population that will be vaccinated by the time October rolls around. Gv is prob also looking at the requirements to even pull it off and whats acceptable. Like if you will need to be vaccinated to even enter or not. I mean if they did ask attendees they had to get it and show proof or else no entry you would have even less people at the fest. And maybe give people an option to roll it over to 2022 if they dont want to take the chance for october?
As of right now, things are going to really ramp up with the Johnson and Johnson approval coming in a week or so. Its a single dose and the u.s is supposed to receive 100 mil doses of it by the spring. Add that with the projection that the u.s will have enough vaccine for everyone this summer ( i dont think theyre factoring in j&j either) and it looks like fall events could be the first things to happen.
But if it did come down to a cost benefit thing for even having the fest in october then they could call it off. If they did decide to make it 2022, we’re gonna be in some even darker times. I hope Biden listens to all the promoters that are offering to use venues and such to vaccinate people. Every major outdoor amp in the country can be turned into a vaccine site for starters.

There's also the fact that if they move it to October, they have to start preparations for April 2022 as they usually start prep work as soon as the prior Coachella is over. That's an even shorter time window now to work from. I also don't think they will keep the October date for good after 2021. Just too much competition.

Its not as if they arent likely planning for 2022 already anyway. There could be a big group of acts that feel more comfortable booking themselves for 2022 anyway and that just ends up being a plus for us. And its also not a strange thing if they booked headliners way in advance as it is. ( look at Timberlake ) They'll be fine, but I think they need Oct to happen so there is momentum for 2022. I just hope hotels and airbnb will get it through their heads that charging an arm and a leg is not going to be the norm for a couple years after this. And itll be curious to see how many people actually want to camp now since everyone is not scared of dirty stuff.
Goldenvoice has been active on social media lately. Holding out hope it’s a sign that they MIGHT actually say something about Coachella soon.
Ironically I have a friend who literally just said they are going to announce that Coachella and Stagecoach will return in 2022. No idea if it’s true, but she does have some insight into the Country music scene as a close friend works on the PR team of an artists who’s played Stagecoach multiple times.

I hope they are very wrong. 26M people have gotten the vaccine in a month and we should be ramping up
Would be required to have both vaccines to go though if it was to happen
If I can't go to festivals in October, I better still be working from home

1000% agree. She texted out the blue, so I didn’t know what to make of it. I fired off a couple questions, but haven’t heard anything back.
