Griz was previously blurred out because of Coachella.. Now that's DaBaby, yaeji, Griz, Emotional Oranges, JID, Black Pumas, and Orville Peck all announced on lineups the past week. All this + Murder Capital postponing shows to 2022 but saying they're playing next Coachella has me thinking this is pushed off to 2022 and will be announced soon.

It isn't completely unprecedented that Coachella artists pop up on other posters before Coachella announces them, and with such an abnormal year, I can't imagine the rules are as strict as they normally would be.
Also, III points(though I imagine its likely being cancelled or postponed soon) has blurred out names on their poster which they said were coachella related directly and Life is Beautiful has Megan hidden as well.
If Coachella of all events isn't confident enough to run it in October, wouldn't that tank confidence for US festivals from both sides of the equation?

while i agree coachella happening in October would be a good sign for other fall festivals happening, Coachella not happening in October doesn't mean other festivals won't happen in the Fall. Especially non-California festivals.

We will have to see. It's also worth noting that yaeji, Black Pumas, Orville Peck, and JID were on the 2020 OSL lineup but left off of 2021.
iiiPoints is said to have an update soon.. As well as OSL

Desert Daze is planning on happening this year and they said it would a be a latter than usual so I don't think california festivals are completely out of the question. it's usually early october but they said late october even early november which implies there still might be a coachella planned for October. I guess time will tell.

Probably, but the thing to look at is that nobody even wanted to compete with them in October, and everyone else is coming to the understanding that you can’t wait around for THE festival to take action before you do. Last year it was Coachella making the first moves and trying to get a foot hold. Now, not so much.
Another factor is that all these festivals are now starting the battle for dollars again so they gotta ramp up the announcements and hype. LiB doing so well last week just gives momentum for everyone that theres plenty of demand out there and as Bumblebee said above, if youve got a half decent line up youll likely sell out.
GV is in a tough spot because its about being on the right side of another gamble. They see everybody else doing this and that and if they fail on top of that, game over. But what if everything truly works out but pushed to 2022, then they wouldve lost a giant opportunity. How do you decide? There is one luxury though, time. They can wait til June before they have to say a word and we’ve already seen how fast things can change in just 3 months this year.

I think festivals will happen this year, even in California. To me, the bigger question is if something the size of Coachella can happen with 125k people. I'm still predicting that Coachella is either 100% capacity or bust at this point and I'm still on the fence whether that will happen this year or not.
California has turned the corner very, very quickly. Every county in SoCal has been downgraded a Covid tier already, and based on the number of vaccinations, and the pressure from this recall, I think things are going to keep progressing, and Disney, sports arenas, etc. should all be open at full capacity by August. If Coachella doesn't happen, I seriously doubt it will be because of state restrictions by that point.
If Coachella doesn't happen, it's because they couldn't cater a line up worthy of their name. That could be due to competition from other festivals (ACL is going to be big) or they couldn't arrange tours from European acts due to travel restrictions. I really doubt it'll be because California is still limiting capacity.

We dropped to red tier because Newsom had 2 million vaccine doses placed in higher risk counties over the last couple of weeks. Disney isnt even jumping the gun and rushing to open on April the 1st like other places are. Thats why Coachella being able to bide their time is a good thing.
Hiatus Kaiyote is back after 5 years. NEED them on the 3rd line. Golden Hour on the Outdoor please. Missed their 2019 show at the Novo in LA because I got extremely sick a day before. Surprised they never booked Nai Palm solo.

I did say any half decent single weekend US festival lineup will be a sell out before the first act plays. It's ACL/Coachella doubling where things get interesting - and they overlap at least one weekend. With bigger budgets those 2 festivals need to each get several "2021 US exclusive" acts in the top 10 names. Private plane over here with no other shows that month to avoid any health hiccup. DDaze possibly blowing 750k-1m on Portishead show this thinking in effect. Ocean/Lana and maybe RATMs first show have potential on this front.
Once we see the C19 curve after spring break(4-5 weeks for older relatives at home) is nothing like the Xmas bump then full steam ahead.

I wasn't that long ago that they only 45,000 tops on the field the 2 days after McCartney played Friday in 2009. Oldchella/Stagecoach had 75,000 fans carefully given their own spot on the field. Maybe they should give everyone in the Sahara tent a giant Flaming Lips inflatable ball to dance inside.

People will show up for anything. No different than drunks going every show night at the summer fairgrounds who barely know who's playing. Oz/NZ shows that are happening have older musicfans attending with zero clue what's onstage and just enjoying themselves. I'm so starved or a show right now I'd happily pay full price for Kings of Leon concert, and I wanted to punch that singer in the face for 15 years now!!!
I work in a music store in a city with a bunch of management teams/musicians and I sometimes hear things. I know of an act in the top 3 lines of the 2020 poster who's in advanced talks to play in October. All 3 Indio-GV weekends are being planned and Radius Clauses have been a sticking point. I think GV should be flexible on this front for anything not in the top 10 acts.
III Points pushed to October and said their blacked-out names will be able to be revealed on April 12th. Wonder if the Coachella decision will be on April 12th or the week before.

Disneyland officially re-opening April 30. Looks like business in California are ready to get going . Can’t be anything but a positive sign for Concerts live events happening sometime this year
Its pretty much the same. Would have to comb through the last poster but there isnt that much changed. Still have some international acts on there so there has to be trust theyll be allowed into the country.

Which makes me think Coachella aren't going to have as big of an issue grabbing European acts after all. Bigger acts will have their work permits in place and do the LA -> Chicago -> New York routing instead.

Disclosure is blacked out and maybe Robyn is too.

I double checked. Robyn was removed after they did their first reschedule so there is no way she is back on the poster after all this time. She was one of the top names. :/

iiiPoints missing a good bit of acts from the April lineup. Channel Tres, AG Cook, Mall Grab, Virgil Abloh, Green Velvet, Bedouin, Gabriel Garzon, Moses Sumney... EDC might have taken some of these
Can someone ask the old lady from Egypt what she thinks of Lana Del Rey headlining Coachella so we can know whether the festival has redeemed its reputation as a laughingstock worldwide

If Coachella does two fests in in 7 months (Oct/Apr), is there any chance of MCR playing one of them? SEEMS like a no-brainer to me given they paid the band either way and now need 6 headliners in a short time, but I'm guessing not.
