I agree, LSU doesn’t care either. Just that Clemson and Kansas State were mentioned. I will say that the Big 12 schools + Clemson and FSU have a lot less money in the bank than the big SEC schools, so they are going to be under more pressure to play/have kids on campus
All of them are getting ready to play.
ya but the original point was a question a long the lines of “this will make them stop” which isn’t about what’s going on now but if things will stop with enough cases

I think the reason they're starting so early is to get this all out of the way. I don't necessarily agree with it or feel comfortable with the season even happening but it's going to happen unless they get everyone sick and it can't happen.
I don't understand the Clemson hate. This is everywhere. LSU has 30 quarantined. Other schools just aren't reporting.

I think the sec stated at one point that they'd have a season even if it was all in conference, so I wouldn't be so sure about their commitment level.

SEC (and Clemson too) is also in an area that would riot if it doesn't happen.

Well I could see Vanderbilt saying no
Vanderbilt is a weird anomaly. They could say no because they're not idiots, but they could also say yes because it's not like they're the only decent school in the school academics wise.

well they are the only SEC school that’s in a legit city as well.

Maybe. Some of the cities are very cool to me. I love Gainesville even if greater Alachua County is neck. I have heard nothing but great things about Athens and then I used to know someone who lives in Colombia, SC. Fayetteville and the entire NWA is cool. Columbia, Missouri isn’t bad. Knoxville is pretty cool and all around there maybe is jorts wearing tourists but the GSM are nearby. I have heard that Oxford is a decent town but I don’t know about Starkville, Tuscaloosa or College Station as ive only driven through those towns. Same with Lexington, but it’s pretty as shit up there and I’m guessing it’s a great place for a bourbon drinker such as myself. I’m not a big fan of Opelika or Auburn but there are some great places within an hour or two (Birmingham and Atlanta). Then there is Baton Rouge. Idk what to do with it. It used to be a chain city surrounded by petrochemical plants, but I think they are starting to come into their own. Whereas only New Orleans and Lafayette were worth a shit in this state, they always had a good gangster rap scene there. But the racism, poverty and wealth disparity there turns me off.

Had an older cousin who taught in East BR for a year.

Im talking more from a density of people sense than anything else. Just because to this point density is correlated with spread of the virus.
Ivy League has suspended all sports until January. Sucks for the athletes, but if it's not safe to compete, you gotta hang it up for a while. Maybe this will filter its way into other conferences or possibly the NFL. IDK. There's a shot the NBA can pull it off with willing players, because the teams are smaller and the players can be paid to stay within their bubble. Football teams are entirely different stories. I haven't followed much sports lately outside of occasional stories I run across. But I felt like this is kind of a big deal. What I don't know is whether it is a domino.

I hope so, too.
Problem is, and I think the league mentioned this in their statement, those schools are far less dependent on revenue (they are "less dependent" on sports revenue) than other schools (their sports teams most likely operate at a huge loss and generate no revenues in the first fuckin place).
So.. we'll see. I'm guessing the Ivies essentially saved money doing this. At Rice, our football team lost I think 10 million dollars a year. I at least catch Rice on TV occasionally, granted I still live in Houston, so nothing like a fair comparison. And they're still probably honoring scholarships. Pff. Idk.

This is kind of a good thing for us Pitt fans, because we had high hopes for this year - senior 3 year starter QB, plus a potential top 10 defense (like 13th last year) - so we won't be able to be too disappointed with the 7-5 regular season we were about to have.
As if I needed another reason to want that conference to burn to the ground.
Why would you have such strong feelings against that inferior conference? All I know is if there's football we better be playing SC. I would like to still play ND too. But SC first.

I wouldn't hold my breath about you all playing SC. If both the SEC and ACC go in conference only, it may be difficult to work out an interconference game even if it is a rivalry game and the schools are closer to each other than pretty much every other team they will play.

I bet we find a way to play that one.
I could see it going either way. Regardless of the lopsided nature of the rivalry, I'm sure both schools would want it. They're both ultimately beholden to their conferences though. Florida v. Florida State is another they'll have to talk about. A&M v. Texas would be another big one but not sure what Big 12 is doing.

Let's do away with conferences and just play nearby schools. Clemson can play SC, Georgia, GT, Auburn, Tenn, UNC, NC St, Duke, Wake, Coastal, SC St, Furman

So there's Auburn but no Bama. There's also no reason for the FCS schools.

That's an alternate scenario that's been thrown out. Do your standard conference games then pick up schools around the area. Just a matter of working out the schedule.

Auburn is closer. Clemson already plays one of the in state schools every year.
