You have been given the opportunity to curate the lineup for Coachella in competition with nineteen (19) others.
Theo has 1.5 headliners and basically no electronic music. Pretending Sigur Ros could headline is probably the single worst billing in the entire tournament. How can people honestly say he curated a better Coachella lineup? Maybe you prefer it as a music festival, but the set up was to make a Coachella lineup.
I've needed you in these drafts for the last 2 years.

I needed you when you voted for Pablo instead of me.

LOLOL
I'm mainly saying because of an alignment on the concept that there needs to be some ounce of realism to what we are drafting here. Been chirping at Pepe about it during the last two bonnaroo drafts. I still expect you to vote against me soon .
I think it definitely should be taken into consideration for this draft how close people came to getting real headliners and 2nd line acts. We are supposed to be booking a Coachella lineup. However, it was pretty difficult to draft a lineup to the scale of a modern Coachella with the number of people playing and the limited free agents. So we can be a little forgiving and understand people just had to get creative. For example, Chandler having Kacey Musgraves and Sufjan Stevens co-headlining isn't realistic (although I think Kacey is a future HL) but it is something I'd love to see. I tried my best to make a lineup that hopefully inforoo would like but doesn't unrealistically overbill any artists. Although I failed with booking enough good electronic. I'd like to think of my lineup as if Coachella were still booking 2013/2012 type of lineups but in the current year.

Agree on some points here, but "limited free agents"? Hardly disagree on that. There are plenty of free agents left available, including many electronic acts.

I think in the current climate of festivals. I don't think niche acts are gonna top festivals in the future anymore but are only gonna do boutique festivals as a result of an ever changing market (even as much as we even want to). I don't think it's possible anymore to let the Björk's, NiN's or Sufjan's of this world let a major festival of 90 (?)k people headline anymore. The only exception I can think of is Radiohead. Those sorta acts are pure prestige acts because they're so rare... and I think it's kind of a shame but money has to roll aswell, I guess. I think (here) it's completely fair to have those sorta rare acts headline another day when you already have 2 decent headliners. Idk.

The way I'm looking at it is that each lineup should have at least 2 sure fire Coachella headliners with the option to make one borderline / halfway realistic promotion like they did with Phoenix. And I looked for there to be maybe 4-5 promotions combined from all the second lines. I think I'm a little more lenient on the second lines because, to me, Charli should be on the second line of a Coach lineup. Bicep I would count towards one of the 4-5 unrealistic ones. I have Lizzo as a headliner and chose to spotlight Yaeji, Jamie xx and Danny Brown, none of which would be on the second line but they are now because I get to put my flair on it. Then after the second lines I just expect it to be a total shit show.

What were Pablo’s 2 surefire headliners? I think you could make an argument for any of his to be a 3, but there aren’t two surefire Coachella 2021 headliners there. Which was why I made that comment to you earlier....

I meant we were only allowed to book 75 free agents. Which tbh does seem like it should totally be enough. But I created time slots based around the last couple years then tried to fill them all in. Then realized I had more than 75 free agents and had to delete some. Almost all of us are using longer set times and starting later in the day.

I thought you meant to say that the number of free agents left to pick from the bonus list was limited. But I get what you mean now.
That 75 number can be increased for the next game easily. But knowing that most people don't even care to look beyond the first two lines, I'm not sure if that's gonna change anything.

Portishead and Massive Attack. I think you may be harsher than I am given you counted Bjork as a .5. I'd count all 3 of those as a real headliner. Sigur Ros, Janelle Monae, and others I would view as unrealistic.
I'd also like to hear some feedback on my lineup, especially from those who voted for Monie over me.
It was a really tough choice for me, but I ended going for Monie because everything I wanted to see there was more balanced over the 3 days. I have almost no interest in your Sunday.

To be clear I think you did a great job with your headliners. You have two for sure headliners and one day that's a stretch but would still be awesome. I brought you up as an example of someone who did a good job of getting creative. Sufjan and Kacey are pretty different as far as music goes but compliment each other really well.

Massive Attack just toured last year and played mostly theaters. You can make an argument for them as a third, but the are in no way sure fire Coachella headliners.
I’m not trying to pick on Pablo, because at least he has a good Coachella undercard. Theo beating DE would be stupid.

Because I put way too much effort thinking about my festivals, I also like to vote for people who put a lot of time into the smaller details of their festival. When I have a hard time making a decision, the number of smaller acts I enjoy can make the difference.
I voted for you because, although I like the 1-2 punch of Beyonce / Bjork...
1. I don't think Sigur Ros could headline Coachella in any scenario. Even less of a chance than Janelle Monae. 2. I think Theo botched his Friday. Or just personally I'm not excited about anything that day below Beyonce. And I don't want to wake up on the first morning of the festival holding bag until the headliner.

You're making sense. Shoulda went apeshit in the thread like DE is. I thought Massive Attack headlined Mad Cool that year but I was wrong now that I looked. Nine Inch Nails didn't either, though. I'd still be surprised to see them at Coachella without at least co-headlining.

On a purely personal level, I don't really care at all about realism in any of these drafts, and it won't be reflected in any of my votes. I might think "huh, that's weird" if something is over/underbilled, but the fun part of it being a literal fantasy draft is that sort of pragmatic or financial consideration is thrown out the window to an extent. It's not like I wouldn't pay real money to go to Theo's fest just because Sigur Ros isn't technically a headliner or anything
Others definitely feel differently, and that's 100% cool too
I'd also like to hear some feedback on my lineup, especially from those who voted for Monie over me.
you were one of my sleeper picks but it’s hard to sway me off Paul Jay-Z Jack White. Rosalia and Tyler look nice, Gaga is bucket list and RHCP w Frusciante rounds it off pretty well imo. There’s just a handful of subs I personally don’t care for and I think those could be more beefed up (J Balvin, Summer Walker, Chance).
If only there was a lineup with 2.5 surefire headliners legit 2nd liners and a bunch of dope electronic acts
Yeah I voted for you, you lost to DE who I am now voting for and will lose to Theo who I'll probably end up voting for vs his comp in the next round at this rate. So I have everything backwards.
