Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
For what it's worth the Tupelo Honey website does mention that they're open on Sundays (but I'm not local and maybe they've closed it down recently, idk)
And that menu looks bomb, I think we'll try to visit there even if we don't end up doing brunch there on Sunday
I’ll call tomorrow to make sure they’re open. We’ve never done reservations. We usually just meet out front.
E: They updated the hours a week ago on Google. P sure Dave’s smoking crack these days.

Sparks setlists are looking very strong. Making me reconsider skipping them for Bill Callahan even though I'll have the chance to see them later this summer

I’m seeing them in less than 24 hrs… otherwise nothing could keep me from that show.
Friendly reminders to non-knoxville people from several years of living in the middle of the festival area:
Dont leave shit in your car overnight downtown. It will get stolen.
You will be asked for money many many times by homeless folks who are for the most part relatively friendly. You wanna hand out food? Fantastic. Donate to shelters? Awesome. Give away clothes? Amazing. Cash money? Do us all a favor and quit feeding the bears.
I used to have a $2/2 cigarette limit with a hard cutoff. There was one guy that called himself the Black Elvis that would sing you Elvis songs for $1 that I’d give more to. He’d ask you what song you wanted to hear and then say “I don’t know that one” and move on. He’d come back later after he forgot you and do it again and again.
We're putting together the enormous guide that we do every year for the local independent paper here and while we have seven people working on it now, there's just no way to get to everything with this lineup.
I'm thinking about breaking it up in to genre a bit but I'm open to suggestions and also I'm open to anyone who would like to contribute. I can put together a list of what we have covered thus far if anyone is interested. Basically, we just need a paragraph or two about each act we're talking about OR a genre piece that mentions several acts within the course of a handful of graphs.
Really looking forward to this. This year is a beast.
You’re always welcome to shoot me a PM if you need anything.
Hey I goofed and got busy and forgot to check back on this. I will know what all we have covered later this evening and I can post it to see if anyone has anything we missed that you'd like to add if you've still got time. Only thing is we'd need it tomorrow. Sorry for the late notice and I understand if it's too late. Crazy underwater over here trying to get this thing right. Can't wait!

THIS JUST IN: masks not required except when it is.
We are fortunate that our region—and the country—has experienced a dramatic decline in Covid-19 infections in the past few weeks, and numbers continue to improve daily. CDC guidelines now have Knox County in a LOW risk category, with guidance that mask-wearing be optional. While we strongly recommend that you wear masks indoors at Big Ears, it will not be required for members of the audience. We reserve the right to require that everyone wear masks for specific presentations, whether at the request of an artist or simply out of prudence. Please come prepared to mask in these instances.
Pending on how packed it is, I’ll be masked up. Also planning on home testing Thursday before I leave, too.

I haven't been since 2015, so how tight are the wristband pickup rules? My partner won't land until 10pm, and she's hellbent on seeing Theon Cross. The box office will be closed by then, and the email said everyone needs to be present. I'm the purchaser, so can I just present her vax card and some sad eyes?

Ahh my guess would be you may be SOL but you should be able to call and find out starting wednesday at least. Them wanting an ID too makes me think it might be kinda non-negotiable but I hope I am wrong.

Sheesh, we did it! And with the help of paintedhighway to boot!
This is our exhaustive guide to Big Ears, circa 2022. Be sure to grab a copy on Thursday if you see one. If you have trouble finding one, just pester Dave Maynar about it. He'll know where to go.
Not going but will be in the area if someone wants to meet up.
Might attend some shows on Saturday if I can manage to score a ticket.
I messaged you about the free shows at the Tennessee Amphitheater but totally forgot that Saturday and Sunday they are doing free shows at the Knoxville Museum of Art with Ken Vandermark and Ensemble Dal Niente. If I didn’t have plans already, I’d hit up either performance of Ghost Trance Music and the Music for Cello with One or More Amplified Vases and the Water on Glass sets.
Saturday, March 26 10:15 AM solo sets: Emma Hospelhorn, Mabel Kwan 11:00 AM Katinka Kleijn’s Forward Echo 12:00 PM solo set: Ken Vandermark plays the music of Fred Anderson 1:00 PM Anthony Braxton’s Ghost Trance Music 2:00PM Alvin Lucier’s Music for Cello with One or More Amplified Vases & Jeff Parker’s Water on Glass 3:00PM James Tenney’s Swell Piece #1 4:00PM Luis Amaya’s Bestiario Tres 4:45PM Eliza Brown’s Masque Rondeau
Sunday, March 27 1:00 PM duo set: Ken Vandermark and Jesse Langen 2:00 PM George Lewis’ Artificial Life 2007 3:00 PM Katinka Kleijn’s Forward Echo 4:00 PM Anthony Braxton’s Ghost Trance Music
is there anywhere in knoxville to rent a bike? I was looking at uber rates from the airport and there was only 1 car in the entire city available, i have to imagine it's going to be rough getting back to the hotel at night

I feel like there will be more going on with an event in the city. Plus, if I remember correctly, Tyson is a bit outside of Knoxville. Betting drivers bumps up by the weekend.
Apparently my wife is also a travel agent now and booked me a room for this already. It sleeps 7 so if you’re on the fence about going after the line-up drops, lemme know.
Continental breakfast and ride to the festival included.
Also, if anybody has a line on those secret shows yet, my PM’s are always open. There isn’t a lot going on at the Pilot Light Sunday and I’m looking there.

All I have so far:
The Big Ears Box Office will officially be open 24 hours from now!
This is a heads-up that as a Premier Passholder you will be receiving advance notification of secret shows this weekend via email. To avoid you having to constantly be on the lookout, here is what you’ll receive and when:
FRIDAY, 3/25, 5 p.m.: You’ll receive an email with advance notice about two secret shows on Friday night: one at 7 p.m. and one at 8:30 p.m. These shows will be announced to the entire festival audience via the Big Ears app one hour before they begin. SATURDAY, 3/26, 7 p.m.: You’ll receive an email with advance notice about one secret show on Saturday night at 9:00 p.m. This show will be announced to the entire festival audience via the Big Ears app one hour before it begins.

The 7 Phases Towards Big Ears Schedule Acceptance & Festival Bliss
EDIT: The ordered list option here renders like crap on my phone!
1. The artists are announced; you emotionally believe you will see ALL of them
2. Schedule is published, conflicts become evident: you scream, cry, eat ice cream, and eventually settle on a plan
3. The schedule is changed; repeat phase 2
4. You realize that your schedule has some unreasonable distance vs. time vs. capacity constraints (i.e. you're not going to be able to walk from St Johns to the Mill & Mine in 5 mins); after more tears, some artists are scratched off the list
5. You're going to need to eat. You scratch out a few more artists
6. Secret shows are announced; you adjust your plan
7. The event ends and you can't believe you saw as many brilliant shows as you did; plans are immediately made for next year.
