Moving Godspeed to late night after Radiohead was the best move you could have done
PepeFielder Beats Antique have been around too long to close Thursday Other. Really like having Open Mike Eagle and Ezra here here. Not really into all the comedy though. Jon Hopkins is not an Other closer. I get that Tiesto is the option for those types, but RL should probably just close it. I don't know how many would be into Tiesto at this point anyways. Hopkins after is just a bad idea and feels extremely unrealistic. You could probably put Blood Orange somewhere else and have Hopkins play after Air. I don't know about Badu as a sub. Knife Party and RL Grime would have been better late night Other programming. I like getting Chrome Sparks there. The superjam feels a bit corny. Lorde should just be the headliner. Beck does nothing as a split bull considering he's so firmly a sub or pre-sub. I'm tired of MMJ. Glitch Mob just closed I thought? Shadow and Arca should not conflict. Gesaffelstein would be better as late night. Dunno about Meek Mill in that Which spot. Steely into Bruce trends too old. HNNY feels especially odd with those other bass acts on Sunday. You could probably get more out of Francis. The world acts like KOKOKO! or other Jazz acts are getting the short end of the stick and playing less desirable daytime spots. Could afford some diversity late on. Allison Krauss is still placed weird. No one needs Billy Ray Cyrus solo and having him open for Lil Nas X seems hoaky.
Team Bull Gonna waste a vote on myself here.
This round was more difficult for me to choose - (this was not true as I had the wrong lineups against each other).

Last Place Party I'm glad you are showing good movies, but I'm not really interested in any of these Thursday acts. So I Married An Axe Murderer ftw. Duran Duran as a late night in 2021 is odd. Yeah Yeah Yeahs are subheadliner enough to where NIN and Paramore both feel out of place. Princess Nokia is too small for What. M.I.A. is too big for a tent. M83 on the other is weird. Your Other daytime lineups needs EDM. All of your late night acts on Friday trend #tooold. Massive Attack is great on Saturday, but this just reminds me again that this lineup is too expensive/unrealistic. Holy Fuck needs to be in a tent. Your tents and stages on this day feel more realistic. The Superjam just doesn't appeal to me. I don't care about Jack White so he does nothing for me. Black Crowes is a good way to end the weekend if so. Cut Copy could have had a better position given the lack of dance throughout the weekend. Noname is not an Other hip-hop act. Jagwar Ma is kind of wasted here. Lots of relevant rock acts though!
This round was more difficult for me to choose.
I think you confused the matchups. Pepe / Fielder is versus your team. Last Place Party is vs Bing / Rummy

Yeah I skipped ours. Half the work is done though!
BingRummy Thank you for telling me that the Which is opening on Thursday. Herobust and Tropical Fuck Storm would be fun. Also like getting Porridge Radio here. Not THAT crazy about this opening though. Love having Billie as a headliner. Sufjan as Which closer is kinda boring to me. I like !!! getting a bump from the typical early daytime sets they hold down. The late nights here look realistic for the most part. Haim should have been on Main. Liam is just kinda meh at this point. Friday is kind of boring. I probably wouldn't travel for that schedule. This is probably one of the most realistic Others going, but not much as an improvement. Phantogram is dated. I don't know if Rufus closes Which. Maybe would have been better in that spot held by Bicep if not closing Which. Radiohead into Godspeed is okay. This superjam seems better executed, but not my thing. Like Arlo into Empress off to start the day and way into Stormzy later, but feels like there is a lot of just slow-dragging music on this day. It's better than Friday though. Sunday has some things I'm interested in, but still too much downtime. I get some runs on these days but then there's just wider gaps of meh. You actually booked music for every stage though so that locks in the win.

me and Nathan agreed going into this game that MMJ would be really valuable in this game, being as they're so loved by Bonnaroovians and haven't played in 6 years. glad to know we were just completely wrong.

nah MMJ is a great pick in this draft. A new album and they change setlists enough to where it'll be a fresh set.
TheoFlair I'm not interesting in anything on Thursday outside of Dehd. First thing I notice is there are very few women in prime spots on this lineup. Your top three What acts for each day feels more realistic than almost everyone else in the competition. Beyonce AND Stevie is obviously a stretch though. Friday Other feels real. Z-Trip got the shaft though. After the ChemBros my late night schedule falls off. Ratatat needs to be late night somewhere. OK Go not so much. Some of these indie acts are tired. Skepta could rock a better spot. Really Like Rocky as a sub, though he would probably end up in the Franz spot. Your other honestly feels too loaded. Bag Raiders have no purpose there and Amon Tobin should definitely be in a tent. Weird Al at Bonnaroo is pointless - especially on Which. Stereolab needs better placement. A-Trak's Superjam seems like a waste. Miranda Lambert is a headliner and too big for Bonnaroo.
Frazzle Other is too good but obviously you know that already. Channel Tres would be a killer way to start the weekend and he's someone they could actually book. Iron Maiden is the sale here. Missy Probably deserves better positioning but she works as late night which. This is one of my favorite late nights of any of these. There is maybe too much rock though. Wouldn't be that excited for AM, but they work as a rock opener. J Hus might have been better on Thursday. I like having QOTSA as Which closer, but would also have preferred them before Maiden. 2manydjs can play all night. I think Mura Masa could have held down a bigger stage. Puss N Boots was alright as a flat character, but I didn't care for him as a static lead. Sigrid could hold down a bigger stage. SMD into Hot Chip would be rad and Coachella should book it. Lots of beige bands that work at Bonnaroo here so gets ya some realism points. Y'all could have given Vynehall some better real estate. Shame on you. I'm not sure where Future played last time. Would this be a demotion? Georgia doesn't feel like an Other act. This Sunday is one of the best of anyone's. I wish Bonnaroo would follow this model. You guys need some late night hip-hop (BROCKHAMPTON). This is easily one of my favorites overall.
me and Nathan agreed going into this game that MMJ would be really valuable in this game, being as they're so loved by Bonnaroovians and haven't played in 6 years. glad to know we were just completely wrong.
Yeah I get that there are loyalists who will follow them every tour (and that they have a tight relationship with this festival), but their new music hasn't really done anything for me. Highlights on a new tour would just be the same things they have been doing for over a decade - which if that's what you're looking for then I get it, but it wouldn't move the needle much in terms of getting me to drive 12 hours to Manchester again.
DRAGONPIT vs JORTLETODD Seems pointless to really compare these two since it's obvious who I'd vote for so I'm just gonna talk about my thoughts on my own lineup. Headliners: Rihanna, My Chemical Romance, Dead & Co: Rihanna in my opinion is a top three headliner in this entire draft. Female, fits the move towards more pop, appeals to people across generations and has about a million hits. She would be a huge ticket mover and is only rivaled by maybe Beyonce. My Chemical Romance instantly sold out all the arena dates for their comeback tour this year. They were booked to headline Riot Fest and Coachella so we know they're available and willing to play festivals. Gives good genre diversity and is huge with the biggest bonnaroo ticket buyers which are millennials. Dead&Co is a throwback to bonnaroo's jam roots, sells out dates around the US year after year. Jam fans and especially dead heads are probably the most loyal ticket buyers around. They're our only repeat headliner, but in a genre that probably matters the least in that regard. Subs/High Undercard: Zoomer appeal subs: Flume, Megan Thee Stallion, Bad Bunny, Pharrell - Flume is appreciated by EDM fans and more snobby electronic music fans alike. Been working with people from Sophie to Eprom to slowthai recently. Megan Thee Stallion is probably the biggest blowup rapper of the last couple of years. Hiphop is having a big moment for female rappers and she's arguably the biggest face of it. Bad Bunny is HUGE internationally and has finally really broken through in the USA this year. He's appreciated by less serious music listeners and critics alike. Pharrell has been around forever but has stayed relevant with the NERD comeback, working with Daft Punk, huge songs like Happy and Feels, etc. Older appeal subs: ELO, Fleet Foxes, Pharrell, Ray Lamontagne, Tyler Childers - ELO is a perfect bonnaroo #4 imo, similar to someone like Lionel Richie. Huge appeal to the older Bonnaroo crowd and tons of hits that the younger crowd won't realize they knew. People have said they're too big to be a sub but they were 6th on the Glastonbury lineup in a country that they definitely bigger in. Fleet Foxes are a perfect bonnaroo sub imo, great singalongs, put on a fantastic performance, etc. Pharrell is a hiphop legend. Tyler Childers is our only recent repeat act and makes perfect sense to comeback with a huge bump in billing and scheduling because he's blowing up massively, especially in Tennessee. EDM: Flume, Tipper, Gorgon City, Eprom, Brodinski, Boys Noize, Cirez D, Amelie Lens, Clams Casino, Ekali, Madeon, Yung Bae, Moon Boots, Mall Grab - appeals to a large section of EDM fans but we made a big effort to book EDM with wide appeal without booking anything that's actually bad/complete cheese.
Rap: Megan Thee Stallion, Rico Nasty, Suicideboys, Kenny Beats, Tommy Cash, YG, NxWorries, City Girls, Yung Lean, IDK, Ashanti & JaRule, Smino, RAP Ferreira, Liv.e - I think these acts are extremely relevant to the current music landscape + throwing in the weird Ashanti and Ja booking to feel like a real bonnaroo. Dont think anyone here is past their primes.
Poppier stuff: Rina Sawayama, Charli xcx, UMI, Cuco, Snoh Aalegra, Caroline Polacheck, Bad Gyal, Jorja Smith, girl in red, ecco2k, LADIES NIGHT SJ(ciara, gwen stefani, nelly furtado, kelly rowland) - ALL GREAT NO CHEESE
Indie Stuff: Wand, Metronomy, Tom Misch, Tim Heidecker, Low, Lucy Dacus, Toro y Moi, Kim Gordon, Kevin Morby, Lady Lamb, Bedouine, GUM, Connan Mockasin, Whitney, Andy Shauff, Helado Negro - Tons of great indie bands here, nothing in my opinion that you'd be surprised to see on a Bonnaroo lineup.
Boomer stuff: Oteil & Friends, Devo, Anthrax, Spiritualized, Violent Femmes, Kool & The Gang, Esperanza Spalding, Keller Williams, Flight Of The Conchords, Tanya Tucker, BLUES SJ with John Mayer Trio
World Music: Lido Pimienta, Thaiboy Digital, Frente Cumbiero, Bananagun, Burna Boy, Tinariwen, Natalia Lafourcade, Bad Gyal, El Gran Cumbo De Puerto Rico, The Wailers
Other Electronic stuff: Floating Points, Soulwax, Jacques Green, Palms Trax, Chaos In The CBD, Special Request, Blondish, DJ Python, Galcher Lustwerk - Think we've basically talked about this enough, wont spend more time on it here but I think the realism aspect here is way overblown.
me and Nathan agreed going into this game that MMJ would be really valuable in this game, being as they're so loved by Bonnaroovians and haven't played in 6 years. glad to know we were just completely wrong.
I feel like MMJ is a jam band for people who don’t like jam bands.
Cap'n x 2 TEED doesn't fit that Thursday Other bill - especially at 5:00 PM. Guerilla Toss, MIKE, and Porn Crumpets would be the kinds of Thursday acts I would want to see. Kate Tempest should be on Fri-Sun. I'm indifferent to what's going on in the comedy tent. Kraftwerk at Bonnaroo just feels weird. Aside from them, Friday late night isn't really my thing. Christmas in June sounds awful. Santigold opening the Other is completely unrealistic. Okay with slowthai there. Didn't 12th Planet play Thursday last time? Did he get a bump for some reason? Florence is still very boring to me. Jamiroquai (while unrealistic) would be a rad late night. Sasami would be better on Thursday. You are wasting a prime late night spot on her when she could just as easily do the same thing on Thursday. Lil Wayne as Which closer seems like it's been done. Built to Spill > of Montreal > Bat for Lashes is dated. Krewella is too big for that Other time, yeah? The Presets on the Other at 2 PM is one of the most unrealistic billing issues yet. They rarely play around the US. They would be such a rad late night why would you waste them on the Wook stage on Sunday afternoon?! This hypothetical scenario is making my blood pressure rise. Moving on. What/Which sunday is not doing much to serve zoomers. Really most stages on this day features acts mostly listened to by people with children or full time jobs. Pearl Jam, Tool, Gorillaz is not diverse enough to headline a multi-genre fest in 2021.
SurferVine While The Muppets appeal to me greatly, having them close the first night the Which has ever been opened on a Thursday is laughable (though it could be viewed as a move that Bonnaroo the Bonehead might actually make). Boy Harsher would be a rad Thursday show. Park Hye feels weird here but I would take it. Ho99o9 would be a cool closer. Homeshake is too small for What. Herbie Hancock needs more time. Jlin is still weird in terms of flow. JETS (or even just Machinedrum solo) is the kind of acts I wish the Other were after. D'Angelo as a sub feels lacking. Terje into Four Tet is rad but too good for Bonnaroo. Holy Spirit Jam does not appeal to me. I still feels like Ross would work better in a tent. Doja Cat probably could have gone late night. Cigarettes After Sex is too slow for late night. MBV is a waste in a tent. Grimes' DJ moniker does not have the name value to hold down such a spot imo. I would have rather seen Laff Trax there. Seems premature for The Blaze to hold down such valuable real estate at an American fest right now. Bella Boo does not fit the Other. Kacey is a questionable headliner. Kacey, Dicky, and The Chicks as a top three on their day is unrealstic and just meh. Amtrac into Duke is nice, but he would probably be earlier. Seems like Monolink should be later. Crumb and Steve Lacy are nice (realistic) gets for this day. I really wish Waters was closing Saturday.
me and Nathan agreed going into this game that MMJ would be really valuable in this game, being as they're so loved by Bonnaroovians and haven't played in 6 years. glad to know we were just completely wrong.
I thought Tame and Bruce was a kick ass pair of headliners but apparently people disagreed too.

I’m not particularly crazy about Sangdetos headliner combo, but I love the undercard, especially the mid tier stuff. KPO’s Friday headliners are cool, but the subs and second lines seems to have a lot of overbilled acts. Billy Idol third on his day is just glaring at you. Think that Superjam could have used some deeper pulls, but hard to do with only active acts. Thought both lineups were close enough to each other realism wise.
gocatsnu / Dan Bobby B King T / JamesTheRam
This was a close one for me. King the Ram has a better undercard as far as a diverse selection of stuff I like, but overall feels more like ACL than Bonnaroo. The name “Disco Superjam” has me interested, but the guests make no sense. Maybe I missed the explanation.
Cat Bob is mostly losing this round for personal taste reasons. Love the Friday but Chaka into Chic and then Madonna isn’t exactly similar, but too much of the same era for the sale stage/day. Sunday is pretty thin for my taste having never been much of a Floyd guy.

Currently the deadline for votes is Thursday at noon, but as I said before, this can be extended for this round since it's a lot to digest. I'll do a quick survey Wednesday night and if enough people want to extend it, it'll happen.

Makes sense. the idea was to have women led bands (CHIC you could say isnt, but the lead vocals are women) to lead in on the main stage to Roo's first female headliner. Looking at it now, it does seem like a bit too much of that era but I still like my concept

yeah, i wasn't really expecting to win this time around but being the 13 seed is pretty wild.
Cap'n x 2 TEED doesn't fit that Thursday Other bill - especially at 5:00 PM. Guerilla Toss, MIKE, and Porn Crumpets would be the kinds of Thursday acts I would want to see. -TEED was tough. been around some time, but isn't super popular, played middle of the day at Lolla, hasn't gotten any bigger, and also as a DJ set it's less of a draw. (i don't think he's done a live set in a minute)
-12th planet seemed to big for Thursday, idk he seems way more popular than someone like TEED, and i like going b2b with the bass with BTSM.
-sasami was another one that i wasn't sure where to put. i did originally have her thursday, i think i moved it around just to fill the time after Dungen. definitely not attached to it.
-Built to Spill was just doing an anniversary tour, quite literally dating themselves, of montreals last album was sort of a dud (not my thing) but the one in 2018 was solid, and Bat for Lashes last album did well. BtS and BfL have never played (?), and of montreal's last was 2009, certainly not fresh acts, but if you only go to Roo and a handful of shows every year, you may have not seen these acts (i've not seen BfL)
-lol idk what Krewella's draw is at this point, they were sort of a bigger thing a while ago, haven't heard much of them recenty, but they are for sure a Roo Other act. what time, no clue.
-i'll cop to being uninformed on Presets. I actually had them lower, but Mac pushed for them to move up. i did think from their live setup it could work on that stage. At the point that Kanye/Truvine compeletly dumped the other stage and turned it a tent, i figured it would be fine to keep the stage with the best built in production for smaller electronic 'band' setups.
-also assuming for Santigold you're more concerned w/ time than being on the other, but 2017 with the back and forth edm/hip hop was fun. and i think stuff like Santigold and Peaches work really well, they dont generally have a band, they're big party vibes with flashing lights.
also the idea that we're locked into our schedules is asinine. festivals change that shit on your way to sets sometimes and you just get a text, like sorry!
can't count the # of schedules ive printed out and just been like fuck they've already changed it walking into the fest.
if this was lets do the math, rank all the participants, and declare a winner, sure. but this is a moving, changing bracket, with moving feedback, that is matchup specific.
if you look at ACL 2019 lineup/schedule on google, there's probably 10x as many day by days that are wrong. we don't reallly have late adds/injury cancellations/back outs, but we are cancelling people (good thing sang didn't have Phoebe!). and some of the scheduling changes were due to backlash (justice/trav) more than just filling people in spots.
also iirc Bjork's time changed on the DfN schedule more than once because people kept bitching about where she was.
We're allowed to make changes to our schedule right? A lot of suggestions to do so in these comments. Just wanted to make sure.
I mean sure there's no rule against it. If we do that, sounds like I need to make some billing adjustments.
We're only changing Yaeji because over half of any negative comments about our lineup have been about first how high we billed Yaeji and now that she should be on the other.
MoneyBear Really like the idea of SiR closing a tent here. The rest of Thursday outside of Glass is meh to me. Hayden James > JVNA > Lil Text > CDW is really weird in terms of flow. I don't think they book Charlotte, but if they did I couldn't see them wasting her on a Thursday night. I can't tell if Skrillex or Dua Lipa is your headliner based on this schedule, but none of them actually fit into that role so that is weird for me. Fever Ray vs James Blake is a bad, unnecessary conflict. Didn't they just have 3EB? Why would they need them back? SOPHIE is another cool late night option, but does not leave much for diversity that night. Saturday night is also lacking re: genre diversity. Would have loved to see something like Yves late night instead. Diana Ross into Jay-Z feels weird. Not much for Zoomers there. I really like Poolside as a mid-day tent act. They are big enough now though where they shouldn't open the day. Give them a slot somewhere in that 3-7 sweet spot. You probably could have gotten more out of Stapleton and Cudi on Sunday. Stapleton honestly should have probably been your Friday headliner. He probably shouldn't conflict with anything that conjures up Tennessee Whiskey. Besides that this looks like the most Bonnaroo day of your weekend though.
JazFred Thursday is packed with some music I would love to see on Thursday at Bonnaroo in 2021 - Anna Meredith, Chai, Sorry, Nothing (why are these two conflicting?!), Confidence Man, Atlin Gun, Junglepussy, etc. Tourist is not rising fwiw. Get him off Thursday. Gambino is not appealing to me. Maggie Rogers feels more like a daytime What act right now. She would fit better than Drive-By Truckers. King Gizz seems too small for late night Which. The Other on Friday is unrealistic in that most of these acts were popular from like 2009-2013. I don't see Luda being brought back to roughly the same spot he played last time. He probably just wouldn't come back if that were the case. Major Lazer closed Which last time. They wouldn't make sense as second before last on other this time. Harry Styles feels more like a Coachella booking than Bonnaroo. Late night Friday could be better. FKA into Gaga is awesome. Would FKA sub at Bonnaroo or would they put her late night or which closer? Beach House is kind of weirdly placed there. Really would want Tierra Whack late night. She would be better than Thundercat. You need some hip-hop there. I really like Green Velvet as Other closer. I'm not that interested in your daytime tent sets. None of it really gets me properly festival-hyped. alt-j coming back in that Which spot is a little weird, but could happen. SURVIVE would have served better as a late night, not opener for f'n Arcade Fire - they do nothing for me these days. Tenacious D subbed What or played before sub last time. They need to move. The Other Sunday, while I like many of those acts, seems off-brand. You can afford it though considering how the Other Thur-Sat shook out. This has a lot of acts I really love, but late nights are kind of bland and I would have a lot of downtime if I plotted out a schedule.
also the idea that we're locked into our schedules is asinine. festivals change that shit on your way to sets sometimes and you just get a text, like sorry!
I agree with you in theory--I think the issue in the context of this game is that after people have given a detailed analysis of each schedule, then asking them to go back and re-review that schedule for next round is just....a lotta work.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
