also the idea that we're locked into our schedules is asinine. festivals change that shit on your way to sets sometimes and you just get a text, like sorry!
can't count the # of schedules ive printed out and just been like fuck they've already changed it walking into the fest.
if this was lets do the math, rank all the participants, and declare a winner, sure. but this is a moving, changing bracket, with moving feedback, that is matchup specific.
if you look at ACL 2019 lineup/schedule on google, there's probably 10x as many day by days that are wrong. we don't reallly have late adds/injury cancellations/back outs, but we are cancelling people (good thing sang didn't have Phoebe!). and some of the scheduling changes were due to backlash (justice/trav) more than just filling people in spots.
also iirc Bjork's time changed on the DfN schedule more than once because people kept bitching about where she was.
I’ve had to change so many set times day of. It really sucks when I already have programs printed and set times visuals loaded up for the IMAG screens.

I agree with you in theory--I think the issue in the context of this game is that after people have given a detailed analysis of each schedule, then asking them to go back and re-review that schedule for next round is just....a lotta work.
lol for sure it sucks and I don't look forward to it. But if it helps it helps.
Cap'n x 2 TEED doesn't fit that Thursday Other bill - especially at 5:00 PM. Guerilla Toss, MIKE, and Porn Crumpets would be the kinds of Thursday acts I would want to see. Kate Tempest should be on Fri-Sun. I'm indifferent to what's going on in the comedy tent. Kraftwerk at Bonnaroo just feels weird. Aside from them, Friday late night isn't really my thing. Christmas in June sounds awful. Santigold opening the Other is completely unrealistic. Okay with slowthai there. Didn't 12th Planet play Thursday last time? Did he get a bump for some reason? Florence is still very boring to me. Jamiroquai (while unrealistic) would be a rad late night. Sasami would be better on Thursday. You are wasting a prime late night spot on her when she could just as easily do the same thing on Thursday. Lil Wayne as Which closer seems like it's been done. Built to Spill > of Montreal > Bat for Lashes is dated. Krewella is too big for that Other time, yeah? The Presets on the Other at 2 PM is one of the most unrealistic billing issues yet. They rarely play around the US. They would be such a rad late night why would you waste them on the Wook stage on Sunday afternoon?! This hypothetical scenario is making my blood pressure rise. Moving on. What/Which sunday is not doing much to serve zoomers. Really most stages on this day features acts mostly listened to by people with children or full time jobs. Pearl Jam, Tool, Gorillaz is not diverse enough to headline a multi-genre fest in 2021.
-TEED was tough. been around some time, but isn't super popular, played middle of the day at Lolla, hasn't gotten any bigger, and also as a DJ set it's less of a draw. (i don't think he's done a live set in a minute)
-12th planet seemed to big for Thursday, idk he seems way more popular than someone like TEED, and i like going b2b with the bass with BTSM.
-sasami was another one that i wasn't sure where to put. i did originally have her thursday, i think i moved it around just to fill the time after Dungen. definitely not attached to it.
-Built to Spill was just doing an anniversary tour, quite literally dating themselves, of montreals last album was sort of a dud (not my thing) but the one in 2018 was solid, and Bat for Lashes last album did well. BtS and BfL have never played (?), and of montreal's last was 2009, certainly not fresh acts, but if you only go to Roo and a handful of shows every year, you may have not seen these acts (i've not seen BfL)
-lol idk what Krewella's draw is at this point, they were sort of a bigger thing a while ago, haven't heard much of them recenty, but they are for sure a Roo Other act. what time, no clue.
-i'll cop to being uninformed on Presets. I actually had them lower, but Mac pushed for them to move up. i did think from their live setup it could work on that stage. At the point that Kanye/Truvine compeletly dumped the other stage and turned it a tent, i figured it would be fine to keep the stage with the best built in production for smaller electronic 'band' setups.
-also assuming for Santigold you're more concerned w/ time than being on the other, but 2017 with the back and forth edm/hip hop was fun. and i think stuff like Santigold and Peaches work really well, they dont generally have a band, they're big party vibes with flashing lights.
Last time at Coachella they closed a tent during Kanye. They are just high energy and have a killer live show. They have fallen off a bit, but not that much. Would be like getting Digitalism and putting them in that spot.
In regards to billing and schedule changes, I'll post whatever you give me.
"Go fuck yourself Inforoo"
was anyone against this? I know Rummy and Bing said detailed responses would be wasted but it's quite the opposite. People are taking that advice and improving. I wouldn't expect people to redo their entire schedule run-through and that's fine but I think you could be able to say "hey look I fixed these glaring issues".

anchorman joke get it together zoomer.
hey now I listened to the Adam McKay Chapo episode the other day. I watched Step Brothers the other day and man....that movie sucks.

I'd add points if things are fixed when publicly said so but I'm not gonna go over every single schedule throughly anymore like I've been doing for the past two days (and I'm still busy).

there will be half the schedules and not everyone will change, or change much at all.
I don’t mind the schedule changes, but it feels unrealistic in the fact that we are merely changing schedules to better suit potential voters. Most festivals aren’t at the liberty to change set times just to satisfy prospective buyers. Typically when it’s out - it’s out - then they just deal with the backlash.

This has been the hardest matchup by far. I have the scores tied, but if I have to pick a winner I would say it's the TOSTIE /emoney /problem dog team because of their superjams.
Sales/Success: I think this would sell well, but probably not sell out because you lack some star power in your 2nd line acts. I would buy a ticket to this, Steely Dan -> Bruce Springsteen might be worth the admission alone for me. Can’t believe your seeding, this is a great lineup in the spirit of the game
Thursday • This Thursday seems to have more of a emphasis on wook stuff than most, good for the current Bonnaroo audience • A lot of the acts are too old for Thursday: Fred Armisen, Fantastic Negrito, Beats Antique, Papadosio, Open Mike Eagle
Friday: • Village People is a fun Which opener • Alex G is a perfect pick in this draft • Rainbow Kitten Surprise should be Which/What stage (or preferably off the lineup) • The Shins, Erykah Badu, Wu Tang, Tiesto feel like Bonnaroo 10 years ago, not next year (pretty sure all have played before) • Tame is a no-brainer headliner pick • Air -> Blood Orange -> Jon Hopkins would be a great late night
Saturday • This day is so close to being an absolute homerun, but the Lorde/Beck co-headline is so weird. Beck has no business playing unopposed at a major festival, and Lorde has done nothing since the last time she played and didn’t headline. I think just completely taking Beck off would have been a net positive for this day/lineup • MMJ late night would make a lot of vets really happy • Love the variety on this day, conflicts everywhere.
Sunday • Really into this day. Feels like a Bonnaroo Sunday with all the folk/americana/bluegrass. • Bruce Springsteen is my ideal Sunday headliner. I think playing 10+ years ago and the fact he switches things up makes it so that it would still feel fresh. Really into Steely Dan opening too • Grace Jones is a net neutral for me considering realism
Sales/Success: This sells out easily, and I'm definitely buying a ticket. There's no good way to assess how much a festival would cost to book, so it didn't affect my scoring much, but I would bet this is the most expensive lineup in the draft.
Thursday: • The tents are filled with good rising acts, but it’s a bit too… same-y? Almost all of them are indie rock bands • Really into your Other lineup for a Thursday
Friday • The opening run of Boris -> IDLES -> Code Orange is rad • Disclosure is the best EDM act in the draft when considering realism & sales • Feels like too soon of a repeat for Cardi B, Future Islands, The Comet Is Coming, Gogo Penguin, Kevin Abstract • I know Cardi was underbilled in 2019, but playing back to back years without a new album and going from Which to headliner…. Not realistic. Same issue I have with Kacey and Lorde as headliners. Saturday • Killer shows all day • Jamila Woods is too small for the What, I would have switched her with Flo Milli who is a great pick • Love the Iggy Pop booking, hate the 4pm Which scheduling. • Don’t really love Joey Badass and Lil Yatchy and the big rap picks this day • I know Sturgil has a new album, but he just pre-headlined, seems too soon for a repeat (great Stones opener though • The Rolling Stones would be prohibitively expensive to book, but they’re a net positive in my opinion when comparing realism vs quality. The fact Jazz Fest somehow had them booked makes it seem possible, maybe you can use their discount coupon • Awesome late night all around. • The WAP superjam seems like a good idea that would be a mess in reality, but I like the Other placement
Sunday • Feels a bit too pop heavy with Sia, Cristine & the Queens, and Jessie Ware on the same day. But it would be stupid fun. • Banned Ole Opry is funny and actually seems really good. • Schoolboy Q is one of those “how have they never played?” acts, good pick. • The Cure would be an amazing closer, but I wish you would have paired them with some undercards that appeal to their base, because I don’t think the would move Bonnaroo tickets the way they do in big cities (See the year they completely bombed at Sasquatch, another remote festival that requires camping)

Tbh idk if anyone remembers how many schedule changes they made in 2015. But like giving MMJ two hours was probably due to backlash. Bonnaroo also makes a lot of schedule adjustments every year in general. Way more than I see with other festivals.

agreed, the responsibility of information is on the schedule makers

not gonna lie, this has been pretty demoralizing. playing the whole game trying to build something that feels like an extension of the great parts of bonnaroo, and an improvement on it's flaws, only to get wrecked in seeding, get randomized into the worst spot in a 3 way tie, and then get blown out by a lineup that has a sub from '19 HLing, and 2 boomer HLers (one of which could bankrupt the festival, given the fact that the other one has a history of underselling) sucks.

This has all been a social experiment, thank you for your participation

i've been waiting for some youtuber to pop out yelling "it's just a prank bro"

ya I really don’t get how your team was so low rated. I really like the bulls lineup so that was a very tough matchup for y’all but most of the other matchups you coulda gotten out of that randomization would have been a W for team it’s always sunny for you

Boomer act or not, Stones are an instant draw. Cardi B is one of the biggest names on the planet and with another record she could easily transition to headliner. If for whatever reason festivals don’t just repeat the 2020 lineups as planned, it wouldn’t be as if 2019 fests just “happened“. It was also an effort to maintain some diversity at the top of our lineup. I would rather have proper representation at the top than a Lorde/Beck split bill. Cardi is more believable than Lorde as a headliner right now and at least we did the right thing by having her do it on her own. One of the biggest zoomer and boomer acts + adored, critically acclaimed act to please the smart fans. There is no risk involved. It’s a guaranteed top-line. Is it too good? Sure, but that’s where the whole “improve Bonnaroo” in how we see fit comes in. I don’t think you are just losing to our top lines though. We, for the most part, have been going to Bonnaroo long enough to know its history and what it could be and I think that is reflected throughout our undercard.
