Some stuff that has come up:
- Everything people are saying about the Stones could have been said about U2 before they played, and they were there very recently. Bonnaroo is the only US festival that U2 has played, and they're another massive stadium rock act with expensive tickets all the way up to the nosebleeds. Jazz Fest worked out something for the Stones, Bonnaroo could figure it out, too. And it's not like Bruce/Waters/Macca/Elton would be bargains.
- Cardi B has the biggest song of the year. It is safe to assume WAP isn't the only thing she'll put out between now and 2021 festivals. She's as much of an obvious promotion as Billie and Lizzo. They've both made the jump to headliner without new music since their last festival cycles. Cardi was billed ahead of Tame and Billie at ACL less than a year ago, and nobody is griping about either of those acts. She's also likely a great deal for what she draws, and we are aware we have a crazy expensive #1.
- The Cure is absolutely Bonnaroo friendly. They've headlined Lolla, ACL, Coachella, and tons of mid tiers. And I don't get how we didn't book acts to support them. We have Iggy Pop, Judas Priest, The Breeders, and Joan Jett for the older rock crowd, in addition to a massive classic rock act at #1. They're also cheap....billed 4th at ACL last year, they play single nights at amphitheaters or small arenas in most markets. Again, we knew we couldn't go crazy with our two non-Stones headliners.
- On the same theme, yes, we have smaller second lines than most people. This is all on me, I pushed to keep them smaller so we wouldn't get attacked on budget.
- Sturgill has released a new album and made the jump to an arena act since his last Bonnaroo. Bringing back a popular country/rock act 3 years later is an extremely Bonnaroo move, and it's justified based on what he's done since then. New album, anime, revamped rock sound...not sure what else he could do to justify another booking. And he's the best possible sub for the Stones imo.
- Yes, we have two headliners that get classic rock play, but we also have Halsey at 4. She might not be popular around here, but she's huge with the crowd that couldn't care less about Stones/Cure. Cardi and Halsey balance the boomer headliners, and we've got a good spread of current hip hop throughout the lineup to back up Cardi as a headliner.
- Iggy at 4pm sucks and we know it. If we're changing schedules, that's our top priority.

Cardi as headliner makes a ton of sense to me (though too early to have her back irl, it's fine by me in the context of the game and she'll easily be there unless the next album flops) I can't imagine The Cure would draw a huge crowd or move many tickets (though I do like them) Stones are an underrated pick for realism killer, plus I think their music is boring (particularly compared to Bruce. Ymmv though)
I've made my peace with getting bumped in Round 1; the Bulls have a good lineup and deserve to advance. Catch me tonight listening to Beck and wondering where it all went wrong

Thanks. I really like your lineup and hate your seeding. Led with that when I voted and tried to make that clear. I'm sorry y'all got boned, but it was a bummer to see Pepe taking shots.

I think deducting realism points for #1 headliners is lame, and I didn't do that at all, but the Stones are significantly larger than U2. Stones' 2019 US tour did $11.1M a show, while U2 did $6.3M a show on the tour that came to Roo. Frankly, the 2019 Stones tour is the best selling tour ever.
I didn't take off any points for #1 headliners because The Stones, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Rihanna, and Rage Against the Machine all equally have the same zero chance of playing Bonnaroo in 2021 or 2022. Whats the point of doing a fantasy draft if you cant actually shoot for some fantasy stuff
Sales/Success: I think this would sell well but not sell out. It’s lacking rap/EDM star power, and there’s not a whole lot that appeals to the wooks.
Thursday • King Tuff is not a rising act • Grand Ole Opry with no added description or guests adds nothing • LEON seems too big for Thursday, they’ve been playing major fests for a few years • Chelsea Cutler seems to big also • This day seems appropriately sized and genre-balanced
Friday • This day really kicks off great, first 6 acts or so are very Bonnaroo • I know you were probably trying to appeal to a young crowd, but Lil Tjay and YUNGBLUD don’t seem like anything Bonnaroo has ever booked, and it’s not an improvement. • Angel Olsen during sunset, perfect pick • Chance The Rapper coming back to play the exact spot after a universally hated album is just a bad pick • Might be too soon for a HAIM return to the exact same spot • Sufjan is for sure a net positive considering realism vs quality. Personal nitpick, putting him late night kinda assumes he’s just going to repeat the 2016 run of lively festival shows heavy on Age of Adz, no? I would have liked to have seen him open for Paul Simon, with the vision of a new career-spanning set. • Earth Wind And Fire is an unnecessary/unrealistic repeat.
Saturday • Liking the early picks on this day again • Phantogram 4:30 pm What stage seems weird • Is Stormzy going to play Which after headlining Glastonbury? Maybe I guess • Love the Moses Sumney and Snarky Puppy picks and placement • Radiohead, yay • GY!BE is cool and all, but they need to take up an entire LN tent for a 2hr set?
Sunday • Whole day is solid but missing some star power, looks like a day at a mid-tier festival. • Solange coming back after bombing doesn’t make sense. • The War On Drugs is a perfect pick
Sales/Success: I don't think this would sell well, it out of touch with what is current and popular.
This is a decisive win for Rummy/Bing in my opinion, so I don't think it would be productive to go through the lineup in detail. But I realize you guys put in a lot of time/effort into it, so just let me know if you want more detailed thoughts.
Kacey into Dolly closing What Sunday would have been a real power move.
Kacey was taken literally right before Dolly. I was so sure Kanye was about to take Dolly from us. I actually argued pretty hard for Dolly because I thought she was more important of an artist for Bonnaroo than all of our other options at the time.

Yeah, wouldn't have been practical, but would have been a great combo. I also think Dolly is a better pick for this game, one of my favorite headliners actually.
Eh I think a lot of artist play longer at their own shows, not at festivals. Either way, my issue was I don't like GY!BE taking an entire late night tent. They could have put someone on before them, then let them play til sunrise for all I care.

wasn't trying to take shots, those are just my main critiques of your lineup, of which we're all making. if anything im more so just taking shots at the fact that we decided to rush into this without all being on the same page.
and then get blown out by a lineup that has a sub from '19 HLing, and 2 boomer HLers (one of which could bankrupt the festival, given the fact that the other one has a history of underselling) sucks.
Boomer act or not, Stones are an instant draw. Cardi B is one of the biggest names on the planet and with another record she could easily transition to headliner. If for whatever reason festivals don’t just repeat the 2020 lineups as planned, it wouldn’t be as if 2019 fests just “happened“. It was also an effort to maintain some diversity at the top of our lineup. I would rather have proper representation at the top than a Lorde/Beck split bill. Cardi is more believable than Lorde as a headliner right now and at least we did the right thing by having her do it on her own. One of the biggest zoomer and boomer acts + adored, critically acclaimed act to please the smart fans. There is no risk involved. It’s a guaranteed top-line. Is it too good? Sure, but that’s where the whole “improve Bonnaroo” in how we see fit comes in. I don’t think you are just losing to our top lines though. We, for the most part, have been going to Bonnaroo long enough to know its history and what it could be and I think that is reflected throughout our undercard.
Edit: I think we are actually fairly close fwiw
i think this is some unnecessary shot taking though.
Thurs: Not an act I wanna see Friday: De La Soul>2 Chainz>spicy pie>Post Animal>Rage>RTJ>Camp Saturday: Robert Glasper>Mavis Staples>Khruangbin>Bjork>Freddie Gibbs>Amish Donut>Camp Sunday: Little Dragon>Yaeji>Drive home probably
This is pretty realistic lineup. However I don't see Bonnaroo double dipping on metal. Also Bjork as a sub is a little unrealistic I feel. Saturday would be a lot of fun, and of course seeing Rage on Friday would be great but there really isn't that much for me here aside from Gibbs and Rage
Thursday: Not an act here I really wanna see Friday: Andrew McMahon>Rex>Wilco>Janet>100 gecs>LCD Soundsystem>Daphni Saturday: New Politics>Daniel Powter>Washed Out>Clairo>Flaming Lips>Kanye>Dan Deacon?>camp Sunday: Amine>Spicy Pie>Neon Indian>Miley Cyrus>Elton John
LCD, Kanye, Elton, Flaming Lips, & Clairo are all bucket list acts for me. Not a very realistic lineup at all but there's some quality stuff here. Great runs on Friday and Saturday
Thurs: Anna of the North>Limperatrice Friday: Alvvays>Snail Mail>Chaka Khan>Three 6>Skylar Spence>Earl Sweatshirt>St Vincent>Bon Iver>Madonna>Kaytranada Saturday: Foxygen>Gucci Mane>Phoenix>Anderson Paak>Grimes>The Weeknd>Calvin Harris Sunday: Anna Calvi>Naked & Famous>Passion Pit>Courtney Barnett>David Byrne>Lauryn Hill>David Gilmour
Actually a really fucking great schedule that keeps me busy every single day. The issue with the lineup imo is the headliners. Madonna doesnt do too much for me although it would be a great show. I've seen the Weeknd. David Gilmour is great but I think he's probably one of the more unrealistic headliners in this draft. Plus this lineup definitely leans heavy on the expensive side which hurts its realism as well.
Really solid schedule again that keeps me busy all day while also crossing off a couple bucket list shows for me. Not a big Ariana fan, and I have seen Travis Scott before so that hurts them. I also don't really love the Beatles but Id probably still have a great time at Macca. Seeing New Order and Ariel Pink is awesome, Lily Allen and Pixies would be great shows that I havent seen. I do feel Ariana, Travis, & Macca is probably a little out of budget. It doesnt help that they also have Robyn & New Order too which I imagine are also really expensive. But other than that this feels extremely Bonnaroo. As my schedule highlights I can literally imagine what food I will eat and everything, it is really nicely laid out
Thursday: R.A.P. Ferreira>Rina Sawayama Friday: Violent Femmes>Burna Boy>Metronomy>Flume>Spiritualized>Rihanna>Superjam>Charli XCX Saturday: Kevin Morby>Kool & the Gang>Spicy Pie>Tyler Childers>Toro y Moi>ELO>Eric Andre>MCR>Soulwax>NxWorries Sunday: girl in red>Ja Rule>Smino>Whitney>Fleet Foxes>Pharrell>Drive home
This feels like a coachella lineup with Dead & Co thrown on top. I don't really think I buy a ticket for this festival either. Rihanna and MCR would be cool but Im not going to Roo to see them, and I don't like jam so I dont care about Dead & Co either. There really isn't anything thats a huge bucket list act either, toro y moi would be very cool to see I guess but thats not enough and I imagine Ill have tons of opportunity to see Charli without paying $400.
Thursday: Turnstile>070 Shake>Jpegmafia Friday: Blues Traveler>First Aid Kit>American Football>back to camp, really don't know if I even go back for death grips idk lmao Saturday: Literally just pit all day for Frank Ocean>Aphex Twin>Avalanches Sunday: Melody's Echo Chamber>pit for Modest Mouse>Ween>Neil Young
Man. Friday sucks for me. Saturday would suck if Frank Ocean wasn't playing, the late night is fantastic. Sunday is also pretty bad for me, but seeing melody and pitting for modest mouse would be awesome. Ween and Neil Young would be fun too although Im not the biggest fan. I would literally only buy a ticket because Frank Ocean is on here. But still Im going to this fest, whereas Im probably not going to whereisdragonenergy's
Thursday: Fred Armisen>Ed Helms Friday: Alex G>The Shins>pit for Tame Impala>Wu Tang>Air>Blood Orange>camp Saturday: Band of Horses>N.E.R.D.>Beck>Gesaffelstein>Lorde>MMJ Sunday: Miguel>Francis & the Lights>Steely Dan>Bruce
Tame Impala is carrying this lineup for me, and I've seen them. Although they are one of my top shows I want to see at Bonnaroo so it kinda balances out. The best run is Saturdays and Ive seen every band on that run except Nerd and MMJ. So it again doesn't really do much. Ive also seen Blood Orange twice so idk. I also am very iffy on if Id even stay for Bruce. I don't think I buy a ticket for this festival. It also isn't super realistic in that Idk if Arca or Gesa would play or that Lorde/Beck is a realistic coheadlining situation either.
Thursday: Nothing Friday: Amadou>IDLES>Feist>Carly Rae>Polo & Pan>Rolling Oven>Comet>Kevin Abstract Saturday: Jeff Goldblum>back to camp>Leon bridges>Joey Bada$$>Sturgill>Lil Yachty>The Rolling Stones>Jamie xx Sunday: Salt-N-Pepa>ScHoolboy Q>Sia>Interpol>The Cure
Kevin Abstract, Jamie xx and The Cure would be really fun shows. That's it for me really. Id be happy to see some of the others but im not super big into any of them. Pretty realistic though, although idk about some of the billing- looking at Sia under Cardi B is weird idk. I don't buy a ticket for this festival though and I don't really have to think about it.
Thursday: Nothing Friday: Julia Jacklin>Sampha>Daniel Caesar>Liam Gallagher>Chance>pit for Sufjan>Caribou>Earth, Wind, Fire Saturday: Phantogram>Stormzy>Moses Sumney>MARINA>Raconteurs>Radiohead>Rufus>camp Sunday: Cherry Glazerr>Spicy Pie>Vince Staples>Kamasi Washington>War on Drugs>Solange>Paul Simon
Really solid days with more than enough to do throughout. Very realistic too, don't think there's anything flaring at all. I don't think Id see Billie Eilish, and Paul Simon doesn't do a lot for me though. The rest is really solid though.
Thursday: Might just chill in cinema tent all day Friday: Reignwolf>Princess Nokia>Cinema Tent and Spicy Pie>M.I.A.>M83>Duran Duran Saturday: Pharcyde>Amish Donuts>Snoop Dogg>KKB>National>Depeche Mode>Massive Attack>Umphreys Sunday: Bombay Bicycle Club>KT Tunstall>The Muppet Movie>Janelle Monae>Jack White
I really like this fest and think this would be really realistic if Bonnaroo had double the budget they normally do. But Drake, marshmello, Duran Duran, Massive Attack, Jack White, and Janelle Monae is just massively expensive and theres still a ton of huge names on here. But man bringing back the cinema tent would be a dream, I loved that place.
Thursday: Nothing Friday: Silversun Pickups>Two Door Cinema Club>Foals>Vampire Weekend>Playboi Carti>Foo Fighters>camp Saturday: Quelle Chris>Franz Ferdinand>Skepta>A$AP Rocky>Beyonce>Glass Animals>MGMT Sunday: Saint Motel>Rolling Oven>Vulfpeck>Stereolab>Stevie Wonder
Overall, I think this festival is pretty solid. Stereolab is a bucket list acy so thats really cool. Id really like to see MGMT too. But nothing else beyond is really eye grabbing for me. Not a huge Beyonce fan although I would have a great time at the show. Chemical Brothers is not very realistic though. I also think Foo, Beyonce, and Stevie is a little expensive as a top 3.
Thursday: Channel Tres>Octa Octa Friday: Honestly might pit for Arctic Monkeys>cinema>sigur ros Saturday: TOPS>Teyana Taylor>Lil Uzi Vert>Hot Chip>Duck Sauce>end of Moana>camp Sunday: pit for Brockhampton>drive back home
Pretty realistic genre diversity wise but it is pretty old. Taylor Swift, Phish, and Iron Maiden may move tickets but it is also not super realistic od a top 3 imo. A little expensive and also dont see them having Phish and Iron Maiden in the same year, and then also dont see them paying whatever T-Swizzle costs. Ive also seen my top 2 shows on this lineup too so idk if I even go to this one.
Thursday: Ravyn Lenae>back to camp>Hannibal Buress Friday: pit for Tyler>Tears for Fears>TooL>Kraftwerk Saturday: pit for Gorillaz>Jamiroquai Sunday: Perfume Genius>Kali Uchis>Explosions>Lionel Richie>Thom Yorke>Pearl Jam
More than a few shows I'd love to see but also more than a few shows I've already seen. THe only act on here I havent seen that Id really like to see is Explosions or Thom. Not to mention this lineup is incredibly expensive. How would they pull off Gorillaz, Pearl Jam, TooL, Tyler, Lionel Richie, Kraftwerk, and Thom? Thats just so much.
Thursday: beabadoobee>orville peck Friday: DJ Diesel>HER>Dua Lipa>Pet Shop Boys>camp Saturday: Dominic Fike>Yves Tumor>Cage the Elephant>Jay Z>Justice>James Blake superjam Sunday: Soccer Mommy>pit for Kid Cudi>Fleetwood Mac
I feel like theres probably 7 or 8 headliners here? I dont think I end going to this festival. I dont really like Fleetwood Mac, Dua Lipa, Skrillex, or even Fleetwood Mac. Justice feels a little unrealistic too. A good fest for sure but not enough here for me
Thursday: Cordae Friday: Still Woozy>MIKA>TLC>Ludacris>Harry Styles>Jesus and Mary Chain>Gambino>Thundercat>Disco Superjam Saturday: Vance Joy>Bastille>Broken Social Scene>FKA Twigs>Beach House>Lady Gaga>Slowdive>FlyLo Sunday: Watsky>Shabazz Palaces>Pusha T>alt-J>The xx>Tenacious D>Arcade Fire
Really good fest, and really realistic. Id have something to do everyday and also has more than a few bucket list shows. I will say the headliners leaves a bit to be desired but Id still go to all 3 even if they arent ones I am dying to see.
[ Thursday: Channel Tres>Octa Octa Friday: Honestly might pit for Arctic Monkeys>cinema>sigur ros Saturday: TOPS>Teyana Taylor>Lil Uzi Vert>Hot Chip>Duck Sauce>end of Moana>camp Sunday: pit for Brockhampton>drive back home
I expected low scores/votes against from your team but I'm honestly surprised, based on the things you've got scheduled for other fests, that you're not seeing more on our lineup. I figured you'd whack us with the dreaded Realism Hammer.
