Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Sidenote: I'm a fan of Jeremy Fragrance because he understands his biases and where he got his influences. I think it's a fair argument that we are aiming for more Theo's than just "random wook bass people". I think the ACTUAL argument is that the base of the festival or are music lovers with a wide variety the base of Bonnaroo? I loved 2016, but they failed deeply on variety and then tried to use LCD to buffer them. It didn't work, and that argument I understand - but "too big" feels like you should have wussed out on your picks and you don't like what we younger folks like meehh.
Just to clarify: Are you saying that this is my argument? I'm confused
Nope as I've seen you vote so far, not your argument - but where we seem to get really pushed down on is Rage, the probable logical switch up from Tool, and having Metallica on our lineup closing. Which I see as an act not doing what they did in 2008 and played for hours but more of a hits show finishing with ballads. The biggest argument I see is that as bookers we should be seeking out "new" artists instead of people who have done shows with good records. Some of this is about personal taste which I have to understand.
Honestly so far, I only felt burnt once, and that's part of being first seed - we get the rubric based on what we delivered.
I'll agree that he is the best in terms of realistic choices for '21.
edit: scratch that, RATM is better
My main argument for Rage is this... if you didn't buy an often high priced arena ticket - you are going to a fest to see them. Would Would I rather see Rage at Bonnaroo than at a Rock the Bells show. YES. Would I rather see Rage outdoors then in a venue. probably Would I rather spend 150$ in total on two days of music than one. Absolutely.
I had tickets to see Kendrick and Rage this year. What a damn shame. I have seen Kendrick more and more recently so RATM gets me the most excited right now.

I like Rage and Metallica each as headliners, just not necessarily together
First time in 6 years with two albums since he last played
he’ll still waste 20 minutes playing Maad City 4 times.
But if Pyro's and Crip's all got along, they'd probably gun him down by the end of the song. Seems like the whole world go against Kenny, but all I heard for 20 minutes was YUACK YUACK YUACK YUACK

I hear your argument and raise you, a how do you keep the Rage audience around Sat past Thee Oh Sees, if they came for an unusually high amount of hard-guitar rock vs soft-guitar rock?
I still think Kendrick is a great headliner but it’s hard to say he’s the best in the game when he’s already played So many times and knowing he probably won’t play anything from the new album anyway.

Alright, here goes. I'm not doing number scores because I think that's a very silly way to do a bracket-style competition.
DRAGON ENERGY / whereispassionpit - I'm not going to say too much here, but this is probably my favorite overall lineup aside from our own. It does a great job at capturing the randomness that made past Bonnaroos so good and exciting. I don't love MCR as a headliner, but that has more to do with personal taste, I think. Your superjams are kind of meh to me, but whatever. A few genres seem slightly lacking but the quality is off the charts. Tried to put a schedule together for this and gave up because I basically hit conflicts at every block, which is a very good thing. Todd / Jake Jortles - Look, you guys got absolutely screwed by the seeding, because a) this is a top-5 lineup for me, and b) you got stuck going against one of the few I like more than yours. You've been hammered for Aphex Twin (and should have been for Joanna Newsom, even though you weren't), but honestly aside from those outliers this isn't at all an unrealistic lineup. I think if anything you went too far in the opposite direction to try and compensate; your Other Stage isn't any different than what I'd expect to see on any given year. I think the Frank Ocean/Neil Young pairing is my favorite 1-2 headliner punch, but I think you needed a strong 3rd and Dolly Parton isn't it. She's wonderful, and a great Bonnaroo pick, but she's not a top-3 IMO. I'd have you moving on easily against nearly any other team in this bracket, sorry you got the bad matchup.
Would be curious to see where exactly you are giving them the quality nod, the randomness nod, etc..
I'd rather see Neil return after 20 years for a 2.5 hour What stage set than their entire Sunday lineup. Would probably be the single most special show on any lineup tbh. On Saturday, we have a run of Weyes Blood, Rae / Ghost, Joanna Newsom, Frank Ocean, Aphex Twin, Avalanches. Each of the bold would be more exciting and important than any show on their Saturday. Thursday isn't a question. Friday I think they got us, but Dolly - System Death Grips would be such a hilariously dope Bonnaroo night.

Gonna just go ahead and extend this voting round until 6pm tomorrow. If I get to it and people want to extend, I’ll do noon Friday but that’s probably the latest I can do.
Sales/success: I think this would sell out, you got some big classic headliners and enough current and popular undercard acts. I’m not sure I would go to this because of the schedule, but getting in the pit for Beyonce and Stevie might make it worth it alone.
Thursday • Good day. I pretty much didn’t recognize anything, but going through the acts they all pretty fresh. • I think Lil Mosey is too big for Thursday. • I think this day is a little too zoomer. I know Thursday is the rising acts day, but they still book some new bands that appeal to the older crowd. A country act and something that sounds like it’s trying to do Motown or something would have helped.
Friday • Not a ton that appeals to me on this day, but I think there’s enough for everyone at Bonnaroo to have a good time. Good balance. • Too many acts this day that make me think “what year is it??” (Silversun Pickups, Two Door Cinema Club, Lil Jon, Ratatat, Mogwai, Ok Go). All those feel like Bonnaroo, but 10 yrs ago. • Vampire Weekend subbing and Chem Bros late night is perfect • JID and Playboi Carti are good rap picks • I think having OK Go and THEY late night is lame. Mogwai late night would have been really cool. Maybe one of your jam acts you have playing early (TAUK, Ghost Light) should be late • I have no idea what your superjam is, but I’d be there
Saturday • This day appeals even less to me, I would have very little to be excited about until Beyonce • ASAP, Glass Animals, MGMT, String Cheese are all good picks for this draft but the scheduling seems really off to me? String Cheese close a tent/stage so they can play as long as they want (maybe could have played Friday, since Disco Biscuits are this day too). Glass Animals into MGMT seems a bit redundant, and I’m not sure either should be that late over ASAP. Mostly nitpicks but it just looked weird. • Two Fingers is a really good Other act. Not many actually cool/interesting bass acts around. • Beyonce at Bonnaroo… drool
Sunday • I am afraid to say that, against all odds, Rich Homie Quan has stopped going in. • Vulfpeck is a perfect pick. When I told Dragon Energy that they were still on the board and had only played in 2016 he said “I thought they played Bonnaroo like every single year” which feels more accurate • SZA into Stevie is pretty cool. I think Stevie would still be a good headliner. He played like 10 years ago, long enough to show a new generation of Roo attendees why he’s one of the GOATs • SZA vs Miranda Lambert vs King Crimson vs Stereolab vs DJ Superjam is an insane conflict for me considering how much free time I would have the rest of the weekend. • I don’t know a ton about Miranda Lambert but she doesn’t feel that realistic (plays big arenas) and the fact I think she’s your only country act feels even less realistic.
Sales/success: I think this would sell well with the combined star power and rarity sets. I think you would lose a lot of the college crowd honestly, which is a large part of who currently goes to Bonnaroo. I would buy a ticket. Don’t love your headliners but it’s my favorite undercard probably
Thursday • Awesome day • Lydia Loveless, Christian Mistress, and The Coathangers don’t seem like rising acts to open Thursday • Omar Apollo might be too big for Thursday • Don’t know a ton about either, but Macaya McCraven vs Chris Forsyth seems like an unnecessary conflict, seems like they would appeal to the same audience.
Friday • Awesome day • I would assume the return of investment on Iron Maiden would not be good. I have no interest in their music, but it seems like the type of show you can easily pit at Bonnaroo and get a once in a lifetime experience so I’m in. • Late Night options are amazing but feel dated
Saturday • Awesome day • Jim James back to back years is unrealistic even for Bonnaroo • I really don’t like Taylor Swift at all. I think her wannabe indie album sucks. I don’t think she fits Bonnaroo. Still, for the purpose of the game she guarantees you sell tickets, and within the context of your lineup she’s a nice contrast to Iron Maiden, that combo oddly does feel pretty Bonnaroo. • Your late night feels too old again. I would have switched 2ManyDJs with Mura Masa. That way you give the kids something late, and 2ManyDJs doesn’t conflict with Duck Sause/Nina • Unforgivable to not include Fast 5, the clearly superior movie of the franchise
Sunday • Awesome day • Future and Brockhampton wouldn’t play again so soon • Phish back to back years is not impossible I guess, but it would be boring.
