Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'd rather see Neil return after 20 years for a 2.5 hour What stage set than their entire Sunday lineup. Would probably be the single most special show on any lineup tbh.
Have you ever seen Neil Young before? Are you a massive fan? Not trying to talk shit, just curious where the fervour is coming from. I'm assuming you weren't at Bonnaroo 2003 and haven't been waiting to re-live that moment or something.

No offense to Truevine but I'm not into letting a participant of the game dictate how much each artist would cost. Just because he's involved with III Points doens't mean he's an authority on what every artist charges.

I can help with talent we’ve actually booked or inquired about, or can give ballpark estimates based on past billing and other contextual info. But I wouldn’t say that my knowledge is 100% concrete. Mainly because I know festivals like Bonnaroo and Coachella often pay more than III Points.
Gonna just go ahead and extend this voting round until 6pm tomorrow. If I get to it and people want to extend, I’ll do noon Friday but that’s probably the latest I can do.
extension on turning stuff in for next round as well? Still haven't had time to fix my Pond situation
Probably closer to 5M but the pandemic is gonna drop talent costs down by 20-30% across the board
The Rolling Stones got paid 14 million for Desert Trip. Can you just stop giving your estimates? Budget isn't really a factor in this game for a reason.
Back in 2014, The Rolling Stones were booked for 4M euro to play at Pinkpop if that helps anything.
I think it would be better to know the exchange rate at the time, which I could probably look up but don't want to, but 4M Euro in 2014 is equivalent to 4.24M in 2020, and the current exchange rate is 1.19 Dollars/Euro.

4.24*1.19=5.05
You forgot the 30% discount since The Rolling Stones are now broke because of COVID

Still, many things have changed.
The 14M at DT was for both weekends, right?
I think 7M would seem accurate given how fees can fluctuate and how much money was thrown on this to get these acts to play the same fest.
The Stones have the best selling tour of all time, there’s no reason to think that they wouldn’t be the most expensive headliner. But who cares, the Stones are dope and are a great #1 for this game.

same deadline cause once I count votes I want to get the next round typed up. Will leave some buffer for discussion tho but don't rely on that.

I think the only estimate that matters for the Stones would be Jazz Fest cost. It's not unreasonable to think they would play a fest to promote their tour like w JazzFest or U2 did with Joshua Tree tour. But they're still probably the most expensive act in the draft, if not, Beyonce. Swift #3 if I were to guess.
1. Beyoncé 2. Taylor Swift 3. The Rolling Stones 4. Kanye West 5. Rihanna 6. Lady Gaga 7. Ariana Grande 8. Radiohead 9. Paul McCartney 10. Roger Waters 11. Depeche Mode 12. Drake 13. Kendrick Lamar 14. Frank Ocean 15. Jay-Z 16. Rage Against The Machine 17. Metallica 18. Pearl Jam 19. The Weeknd 20. Billie Eilish 21. Travis Scott 22. Tool 23. The Cure 24. My Chemical Romance 25. Foo Fighters 26. Childish Gambino 27. Tame Impala 28. Arcade Fire 29. Gorillaz 30. Lizzo 31. Cardi B 32. Tyler, The Creator 33. Nine Inch Nails 34. Jack White 35. Florence + The Machine 36. Stevie Wonder 37. Dua Lipa 38. Kacey Musgraves 39. Lorde 40. Beck
No Idea Neil Young Bruce Springsteen Dolly Parton Dead & Co Paul Simon David Gilmour Madonna Janet Jackson Elton John Fleetwood Mac Iron Maiden Phish

Seen Neil twice. The fervour is stemming from a few factors...
1. Returning after a long gap between his one solo Roo show. Said show is considered legendary. 2. One of the greatest artists of all time. 3. He's a rare great where I don't necessarily imagine his current show to be a ton worse than his prime shows. Don't feel like Neil ever thrived off his image or movement. His chops are still top notch. No important band member deaths or whatever like The Who or something. It just doesn't really matter that he is old like it does for other legacy acts. 4. Perfectly Bonnaroo act that helped with the rise of the festival.
He is the best possible Bonnaroo Sunday act for 2021 imo.

I think this is fair and what we were assuming. I don't actually think TV has all the answers, but I do wish others would treat the Stones like they're in the top price tier and not some insane tier by themselves way up in the stratosphere. Especially since we booked deliberately smaller 2-3s and light second lines, something Bonnaroo didn't even do when they booked U2 in 2017.
Paul is more expensive than Radiohead. Depeche Mode is way to high and RATM and Metallica should be higher. The Cure should be lower than Foo Fighters, they're about the same as PJ.
I've been very busy in my job this week, so I'll keep this short. For realism, I've looked at the following criteria: ticket sales, genre variety, appropriateness of HLs/subs, size of Thursday lineup, and The Other lineup. And for quality criteria, I've accounted for: acts I personally like, late night sets, SJs, "improvement of identity", and scheduling. Then did some averaging and determined votes for everyone. I'm not sharing scores this round, and I won't be able to write detailed analysis on everyone's lineups, so here we go:
sangdeto vs. KPO/slack: in both aspects, I liked sangdeto's lineup more than KPO/slack's.
Gocat/Danbob vs. King T/JTR: T & JTR's lineup is one of the realistic lineups in the game, I also liked the quality slightly more than Gocat/Danbob's lineup.
Dragon/Passion vs. Todd/Jortles: This was a really tough one. Realism-wise, Todd/Jortles is slightly better IMO. However, quality-wise, I like Dragon's lineup much more than Todd/Jortles'. My vote is for Dragon/Passion.
Pepe/Nathan vs. Bulls: In both aspects, I liked Bulls' lineup more than the other one.
Bing/Rummy vs. Vieux/cdev: Bing & Rummy did a great job creating a realistic lineup. They were winner for the quality category too. Overall, a really good job.
Theo/Teddy vs. Frazzledrip: Another tough match-up. I found Theo/Teddy's lineup a bit more realistic than the other, but the quality of the Frazzledrip's lineup is amazing. Scores were really close (0.02 difference), but Frazzledrip ended up winning this one.
Captain vs Jesus: Another two close lineups. Quality wise they were really close, but reality wise, Captains did a slightly better job. My vote is for them.
MonieBear vs Fred/Jaz: I like Monie/Bear's lineup, and they did a good job IMO, but I obviously like ours more lol.
I'll try to write more detailed explanations if I find the time but that's all I can do right now.

I think the entire TJT tour was a favor called in by LN, so that was a pretty unique situation that led to U2 headlining. It probably wasn't just a matter of Roo ponying up. There was a Grantland article in 2015 where U2's manager said they didn't *need* to play Bonnaroo specifically, unprovoked, because they were still relevant or whatever. I took from that that Roo had really been going after them for awhile. This is purely speculation, but I'm guessing it was discussed/negotiated in some way when AC sold that stake to LN.
