Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I think the entire TJT tour was a favor called in by LN, so that was a pretty unique situation that led to U2 headlining. It probably wasn't just a matter of Roo ponying up. There was a Grantland article in 2015 where U2's manager said they didn't *need* to play Bonnaroo specifically, unprovoked, because they were still relevant or whatever. I took from that that Roo had really been going after them for awhile. This is purely speculation, but I'm guessing it was discussed/negotiated in some way when AC sold that stake to LN.
I remember AC saying that U2 approached Roo that year
I went in more depth on these and was almost done and then this fuckin page reloaded so I'm not gonna give as long explanations for these, sorry, seems more important to get the votes in. I've seen people talking about nitpicking a bit but these are all so close that you can only really separate them by nitpicking.
KingJames vs CatBob - Headliners: Give kingjames the edge here, Macca/Gilmour both extremely unrealistic. Travis/Weeknd are perfect headliners for this both are repeats from 2017 but travis makes more sense to come back with a promotion. I prefer Madonna to Ari but she just doesn't seem like the type of legacy act that would do well at all at Bonnaroo and I don't think two legacy acts are necessary. Undercard: I would be a lot more excited about kingjames undercard and though catbob is probably more realistic, I dont think there is anything too crazy on KingJames. I'd go to both of these but the main attraction to Catbob would be Gilmour.
PepeFielder vs TheBulls - Headliners: edge to the bulls, I think pepefielders are pretty great for the game but they don't do much for me personally at all and the bulls work well for the game while appealing to me more personally. I do think two legacy acts are kinda weird but i also think the Lorde / Beck day is weird. Undercards - Not much seperation here but I think the Bulls are a bit more current/relevant and the other lineup feels a bit festival filler filled. Both have some really unrealistic acts but I dont think either one is more unrealistic than the other. I'd go to the bulls festival.
LastPlace vs RumBing - I would love to attend TheLastPlace festival but the problem is all the biggest selling points to it for me feel really unrealistic to Bonnaroo (Drake/NIN coheadline, Depeche Mode, Massive Attack, etc). I don't love RumBings lineup as much as everyone but I think they did a great job with headliners and booked a lineup that looks realistic to Bonnaroo. Undercard is not my favorite. I would go to LastPlace's fest but probably not Rumbing's.
Teds vs Frazzledrip - This one is really close. I think Beyonce is a top 3 headliner in this draft, but so is TSwizzle - Beyonce is better but Taylor would be a bigger deal booking as the first major US fest to get her. The other two headliners are close but as I really don't care at all about Foo Fighters I give the headliner edge to Frazzledrip. Both undercards have a lot of stuff that seems really unrealistic for Bonnaroo (Chem bros, Rob Zombie, Miranda Lambert subbing, King Crimson / AM subbing, Kylie, Sigur Ros).
Capns vs Jesus - This ones also really hard for me. I think both have some weird things about them. Capns have really big subs and Team Jesus has D'angelo getting a huge promotion to subbing even though he hasn't gotten any bigger since he last played Bonnaroo and Kacey headlining + stuff like MBV. Gonna lean TeamJesus because their lineup seems at least affordable and a bit more current.
MonieBear vs FreddyJaz - Moniebear has probably my favorite headliners other than my own in the game. Dua is a great promotion, Jay Z is a great bridge from modern to legacy and Fleetwood Mac is one of the best legacy acts for Bonnaroo imo. Gambino seems weird as he literally just headlined (I think it would have been better to just promote Harry) and I'm not a big AF fan. Gaga is a great booking but I would probably skip personally. There's not a huge seperation in terms of undercard to make up for the bigger disparity for me with headliners.

My computer is awful and turns off/freezes randomly, so I finally wised up and did it in word this time
redid to add the people I left off. in the process i had to change things.
if you already went through your schedule and don't care to look again, thats cool, if you'd like me to tell you what i changed based on yours thats also cool.
What’s not realistic about Macca? Roo for sure wanted him back in 2018
I didn’t know that or forgot but repeating any legacy act seems dumb to me. You won anyway but I’ll probably bump up your realism next round now that I know that.

DRAGON ENERGY / whereispassionpit Todd / Jake Jortles
Rihanna would probably be my first choice festival headliner but I’d love to see NYCH again as well. Headliners are overall a push, but Tortles loses me on the scedule. The Dolly / SOAD combo doesn’t really work for me, love the Dolly pick, but her style of show needs a strong 4th the same night, and SOAD is not my thing, and I don’t like anything else programmed after Dolly either. Since none of these lineups are realistic I was willing to cut Aphex Twin some slack, but the Which stage placement is a bridge too far.
Pepe Silvia / Nathan Fielder fearandparanoia / money / problem dog
Pepe and Nate are getting burned by my personal taste issues here. Don’t care about Lorde or Bruce, and I peaced out of Tame’s Coachella set after elephant to see Little Simz and I’d do it again. I also would have switched Miguel and Dan on the schedule if I were you, or just sack up and give Grace Jones preHL.
When the Bulls drafted Goose I was pretty certain we had picked them 3-4 rounds earlier and was pissed to miss on them. They’re diet-Soulwax and would be real fun on a Thursday. Like the headliners although I would have put the Stones on Sunday if I were them. The Cure will play forever if you let them and Bonnaroo is one of the few festivals that can swing that on Friday or Saturday.
Chandler Bing / Rummy VieuxCareen / cdevaney
VieuxDevaney, 9 out of your top 10 being dudes is kind of disqualifying for me, plus booking Drake with a bunch of conflicts makes no sense.
Theo / Teddy Flair Delicious Meatball Sub / Larry Farnsworth
Capn Jim “Mad Dog” Mattis / Cap’n Mac Silver Surfer / true vine
After all the time True Vine spent being the realism police they’re gonna put the muppets on the Which on Thursday? Love the Friday and Saturday headliners and late night, but don’t care a lot about Roger Waters.
Team Jesus was bailed out on the realism front by the fact that this lineup doesn’t feel like a Bonnaroo at all to me. I hate to be someone who just says a lineup feels like another festival, but other than She and Him doing Christmas songs this is a Coachella lineup. I think these headliners would struggle a little sales wise compared to the rest of the draft.
Moine / Fozzie Bear Jaz / Fred
If Jaz Flintstone had flipped Styles and Gambino this might be my favorite stylistically. MMW - FKA - Roisin - Lady Gaga - TAB - Lotus is a great run.
Monie Bear has great headliners for my taste, but lukewarm on the rest of the lineup. Not crazy about these late nights. A-ha late night is weird and James Blake feat New Power seems weirder (and having Blake late night twice is a little cheap.)
I think both of these lineups kinda equal out on the realism front.
I'm surprised that She and Him doing Christmas music (which I didn't realize we'd have to do at the time) would get hit twice on realism despite the fact there's a long standing CHRISTMAS BARN at Bonnaroo.
Tyler with Grinch, Danny with Nightmare, Sleigh Bells.
They fit.
Oh I think She and Him is great, it’s just other than that I have issues with your lineup.
But idk, PJ never been at Coachella, I don't think Lionel either, Tool could've been but they did Bonnaroo instead (maybe not their call, which would help me really), Jamiroquai definitely fits the vibe of Bonnaroo as much as Coachella, we have more jam with JRAD, Dweezil (something all my jam friends are into), EOTO, a lot of acoustic stuff, Reggie Watts, a comedy lineup, big Freedia also a Roo staple.
Also really think Elfman is a better fit for Roo, big budget Hans was perfect for Coachella, Elfman with his weird movie scores and heavy Christmas vibes is perfect for Roo.
