He comfortably fit in a tent at Coachella. He would probably draw worse at Bonnaroo.
Aren't tents at Coachella much bigger than those at Roo?
Eh, unless they can't accommodate the production, tent is the better move. What he drew at Coachella would have been sad on a stage, and it thinned as he played. Coachella's top lines weren't Aphex friendly that year, but they still had Four Tet, Gesa, Nina Kraviz, Jon Hopkins, and the Yuma lineup. And he still didn't justify a stage, at a festival where rare bookings are part of the identity.

A Roo tent could absolutely not hold Aphex's pro lol
He deserved Sahara and didn't get it. He deserves Which or Other at Roo.
I’ve seen Aphex Twin 4 times, 3/4 times were outdoor. With the exception of that apocalyptic level DFN set, the indoor show was way better than the outdoor shows.

Sahara is pointless if he's travelling with his own screens. Also he would have filled maybe a quarter of it. Mojave was a smart move, it was the right size stage for the crowd. Not sure that "deserve" is relevant here, wouldn't you rather play to a tent that looks kinda full over an empty field?

If I'm Aphex and I'm playing basically any festival (maybe any show) I'm probably collecting a paycheck and I don't super care.
Honest question, have you been to Roo? I'm not kidding that his gear most likely could not fit in a tent there. Has his own screens? OK, so Other's out. Guess he has to play Which.
When the Bulls drafted Goose I was pretty certain we had picked them 3-4 rounds earlier and was pissed to miss on them. They’re diet-Soulwax and would be real fun on a Thursday.
Is there more than one Goose? I thought they were just a fairly generic jam band.

I also don't think he cares, that's why I think it's strange to say he deserves it. Putting him on Which late night wastes a prime spot for the festival if he isn't pulling a crowd, and you don't seem to be arguing that he would. For what it's worth, nobody seemed to think he could fit in the Mojave either, his production was probably the main reason why.
I think the answer is he just doesn't fit. Expensive act that they know won't draw. Coachella has historically been willing to do that, Bonnaroo really hasn't.
And why are you trying to blow up Bonnaroo cred? Bonnaroo is just a vibe, we've all been there.

You have the Belgian Goose aswell, they sound a bit like Soulwax but more poppy. They're great live.

Billie and Radiohead are a dream pairing for me as far as Roo headliners go, but Paul Simon feels like a misstep. I don't think he would be a huge draw, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. Chance is interesting here because he should be at headliner status given his billing last time he played, but given the reception of his last album and no real reason to be excited about him on the horizon, he'd not be a great draw as a third headliner. Honestly Chance is kinda just at a sink-or-swim point in his career, so in some sense he's a risky booking in general. Anyways - Bing/Rummy have a pretty realistic lineup. I'd expect a bit more in terms of acoustic folky stuff if this were an actual Roo, but the move away from it is slight enough that it comes across as a subtle change in direction, which works for this draft because it still looks like a Roo lineup.
I didn't love Vieux/Cdev's at first because it felt a bit too unrealistic (and it is), but the more that I'm looking at it, the more I think they balanced out a lot of genres while still booking decent acts. I do think having both NIN and Massive Attack is a really big stretch though, so they lose a decent amount of realism points there. Wish they had a couple more current hip-hop acts (or at least put Rae Sremmurd and Action Bronson on different days). The lineup overall feels a little dated, which I think hurts the quality just a tad.
For realism, I'm giving Bing/Rummy a 7 and Vieux/Cdev a 3. For quality, I'm giving Bing/Rummy a 6 and Vieux/Cdev a 4. Bing/Rummy - 13 Vieux/Cdev - 7
Theo/Teddy vs Meatball/Larry
Theo/Teddy have a more consistent/realistic lineup than I first thought. We start heading towards unrealistic territory with Chem Bros and King Crimson, but there have been far more egregious picks and they surround those names with things that I think are very realistic and very Bonnaroo. For me the lineup is missing a bit of wow factor in the undercard, but their upper lines are solid enough that I think this fest would still sell pretty well.
Meatball/Larry have good names, but I think hurt themselves a bit with their day-by-days. Missy/Rosalia/Eric Prydz/Sigur Ros all on the same second line on Friday and QOTSA/Lil Uzi Vert/Kesha/OMAM on Saturday each paint a different picture, and it feels inconsistent. Like even just switching Sigur Ros and OMAM would balance things out a bit here. That's all a bit of a nitpick though. As far as realism goes, this is hard for me to judge. Friday is top-heavy. Both Iron Maiden and Taylor Swift are picks that I don't think would play Roo, but with Taylor's well-received shift in sound on her last album I think she's a bit more in the realm of possibility than before, and Iron Maiden...well yeah that still probably won't happen. It's a wacky pairing though, and I like it. Aside from that, I think they have a strong and interesting undercard.
This was a good matchup, and was difficult to decide.
For realism, I give Theo/Teddy a 6 and Meatball/Larry a 4. For quality, I give Theo/Teddy a 6 and Meatball/Larry a 4.
Theo/Teddy - 12 Meatball/Larry - 8
The Capns vs Silver/TV
As much as I love the lineup the Capns put out, it's way too strong to feel realistic. Putting Kraftwork, Patti Smith, and Thom Yorke all on one line and then starting the first line of artists after the superjam with Jamiroquai like it ain't shit is fucking s l i c k though. Also they have arguably four or five headliners. I really love a lot of their undercard, but I think they took too big a bite with their top lines.
Although I don't love the Kacey bump or the MBV pick, I think Silver/TV have a strong lineup that's a bit more reigned in than The Capns'. It pushes the envelope of realism in some places, but I have no major complaints about this one.
For realism, I give the Capns 3 and Silver/TV 7. For quality, I give the Capns 5 and Silver/TV 5.
The Capns - 8 Silver/TV - 12
Monie/Fozzie vs Jaz/Fred Monie/Fozzies lineup is one of the Roo-ier ones to me, though seeing Dua in the HL slot with Stapleton chillin' behind Fleetwood feels jarring. They have good genre diversity, but Diana Ross feels pretty out of place to me. Fleetwood/Jay-Z is one of my favorite headliner pairings in this draft, along with Frank/Neil and Billie/Radiohead. Good stuff, guys.
Jaz/Fred's lineup...*chef's kiss*.
For realism, I give Monie/Fozzie a 0 and Jaz/Fred a 10. For quality, I give Monie/Fozzie a 0 and Jaz/Fred a 10.
These scores aren't truly representative of the difference between our lineup and theirs, obviously, I just don't want to point out any of our own lineup's flaws. I'll be giving this score for all matchups we're in, since the actual numerical score doesn't matter outside of my own vote.
I will give explanations later, but I wanted to get these in before time is up. I'm going to bed now and I'm pretty sure time will be up by time I'm off work tomorrow (like 18-20 hours from now).
redid to add the people I left off. in the process i had to change things.
if you already went through your schedule and don't care to look again, thats cool, if you'd like me to tell you what i changed based on yours thats also cool.
Your clashfinder shows as private when I try to open it
Not going to be clinical and go too deep into schedules this round, building my notions off the poster and my perceptions from there. I try my best to adjust for my own taste and age bias as I go.
sang/deto - I like our lineup. kpo/slack - Kanye was a huge risk. I know that I would like this lineup more if there was some adjustment of bands between days (i.e. Janet / LCD feels off to me) . It ends up being a lot of things that I believe a younger audience might gravitate to especially on Fri’s undercard and Saturdays top. Your realism goes up for that - but booking Billy, Miley, Elton John Sunday just didn’t work for me
gocatsnu / Dan Bobby B - Solid Thursday, believable Friday - though still would have to force me to a Madonna, The Weeknd, or Gilmour if I was on the farm. So it’s a personal taste issue, that I think is handled with a solid undercard where I can pick out acts I would be excited to see for the first time. This is one of my favorite undercards. King T / JamesTheRam - I can see a world where all three HLers are billed this way, and the 2nd/3rd lines are all pretty diverse and hit the realism of both younger and older audience staying around for Macca. This certainly has an audience. I’m not it, but voting for you based on the strength of the HLers. DRAGON ENERGY / whereispassionpit - Friday is fire. Saturday isn’t for me at all, but I think MCR with your undercard works for the day as a totality. Sunday seems fun for most, but only Pharrell inspires me. I think your mix of younger acts with a solid selling Top 6 is going to take this one pretty far. Friday works really well with me for scheduling, but Saturday into LN doesn’t move me at all. Sunday looks great schedule wise, which eeks out the win. Todd / Jake Jortles - This lineup just feels much more realistic at first sight. It’s stacked in a way that I would jump at the chance to go to but I’m going to have to dive into a schedule for this one because Saturday feels too big. Also great hip hop all around, but I’m not sure about JPEG/Just Blaze Thursday. It’s not great that I wouldn’t have much to see before Dolly on Friday but your LN’s are where my heads at.
Pepe Silvia / Nathan Fielder - Would this get me to the farm. Yes. Do I think it weighs heavily on the top line and not the undercard, also yes. You picked a great top line for my taste, and I can map out a schedule on most days - the Billy Ray Cyrus / Lil Nas X / Miguel space is too much for me, but at least it’s Sunday when I’d usually go in later. The superjam doesn’t really do anything for me, but I do appreciate the aim at comedy. fearandparanoia / money / problem dog - Rolling Stones, Cure, Cardi B is dynamite. If I saw that alone (having not seen ⅔ of the HL) I’d be in. Banned Ole Opry is one of the best superjam ideas so far. And the scheduling is right on par with what I would expect from Roo - I honestly have little to say about this one because the only negatives for me deal with personal taste for LN. But I also believe that’s how it would be scheduled, except maybe a rapper LN Saturday. But that’s a hard nitpick with Lil Yachty right before the Stones.
Chandler Bing / Rummy - Billie, Radiohead, Paul Simon - all powerhouses, and should sell tickets. I don’t know if the rest of the lineup grabs me at all. Friday is kinda terrible for what I enjoy - but I know there’s obviously an audience for these acts. I think you have to rely on the good HL picks to make this work. VieuxCareen / cdevaney - I hate Drake, and I still want to go to this fest. Sunday is the only day I’d see Jack White at this point. There are a few ordering of the billing that I don’t love but it makes sense looking at the schedule. Wish NIN could be LN again but all your choices make sense with your lineup.
Theo / Teddy Flair - Love this lineup, because it does feel absolutely possible with a great mixture of genres without tipping too far in any direction. Foo’s is a natural “finally” pick, Bey and Stevie Wonder (taken right from under us, yargh) would be enough for me to buy a ticket. I also love your subs, except Saturday peters out for me. Delicious Meatball Sub / Larry Farnsworth - Went straight for the schedule because I know Iron Maiden, Tay, Phish doesn’t push my buttons but will it grab a crowd - yes. I think my major gripe is that I would end up in the Tents the whole weekend, because the What Stage acts don’t do it for me. (Obviously personal taste). But this schedule is on point and Friday and Saturday’s LN’s work really for me. You get the win but this was too close. **(I’ll be honest I would vote for both of these if I could)

Capn Jim “Mad Dog” Mattis / Cap’n Mac - Is Pearl Jam/Tool TOO much rock!?! Lol. But really tho, we’ve been fighting over the same artists so this lineup already veers towards my personal tastes. Comprehensive comedy. I’m way more into your top 10 artists than a lot of posters I’ve seen. I feel like this will be improved with a schedule. I will edit my vote if the schedule comes out before the deadline and it proves me right. Silver Surfer / true vine - Kendrick, Kacey, Roger Waters is top heavy but reliable as hell for selling out the fest. I am leaning towards you for the top of your lines on the poster and how that would impact sales, and that I would be heavily What/Which for this fest. Friday is fantastic, Sunday would personally bore me, but oh well.
Monie / Fozzie Bear - Love Saturday, Hate Friday’s top line. Feels like some of Sunday could have come into Friday and vice versa, but I think some of this is personal taste. I wouldn’t have much to enjoy during the day and would probably be focused on the Other Stage. Jaz / Fred - One of the most solid lineups, and would go even if Lady Gaga isn’t my personal taste, there is so much quality in the lineup that I wouldn’t care. It feels stacked but I think it might just be the poster presentation and when I dive into the schedule I’ll probably like it even more. There are a couple repeat acts that might come up in later rounds of judging - but I personally am not using that thought process this round.
A Roo #1 v #1 An ACL #5 (Gorillaz) v An ACL #2 (Gambino) Tool is bigger than AF. But both are (tried to be arena acts).
Tyler/Flo v Styles/xx, out of your mind if you think mine are bigger.
Styles for sure is a bigger draw, has to cost more, Tyler's tours do v well, but Harry is on another level rn. Xx and Flo both subheadlined Roo there's not some chasm of Florence is too big to be a five but xx is total fine. Xx and Flo both headlined a day at ACL.
FKA isn't a properly sized #2 on her day for her draw, and seems just as unlikely as anything I have.
Kraftwerk has been a #3 on their at Coachella and Osheaga. I know people like to pick them as a quirky headliner when we do drafts but it's simply not realistic.
Thom Yorke is 100% in the field for Roo, having already played the festival multiple times with his band, and playing ACL this year. Idk why Jaz and Truevine both tagged that as a source for negative realism.

I don’t have a problem with Thom. He’s a pretty big spend and might not draw enough to the current Bonnaroo demo to justify his cost, but like you said he’s played ACL and whatnot. I think it becomes problematic when you add him to a bill with PJ Harvey, Kraftwerk, and Jamiroquai. That’s too many expensive, niche acts.
Both picks are 100% improve the acts Roo books without losing what makes Roo Roo.
At what cost though? That’s a huge part of your budget that you guys could have used to book EDM. I don’t see any EDM above Claude VonStroke.
the at what cost guy has more expensive #1 and #2 overall, has inexplicable choices for their #2s and #3s by day. biggest EDM name is pretty lights (a decade old project, that is essentially on hiatus)
who's your 2nd biggest get for 'cheese edm'? theres a big drop off in popular, accessible 'wook' or bro music. four tet? terje? WAR NYMPH?
I'd bet Claude is a bigger draw than all of them. didn't he headline a day at Movement? on top of playing Roo (w/ double duty) previously?
Thom also had the same sized crowd as James Blake, in the exact same time slot. so yeah the niche, is dope thing that plays after sunset on a side stage pre headlining.
