Re: representation, tried to get a fair amount, but was sort of disappointed by the overall numbers. I think the exclusivity makes it sort of hard for everyone to get even #s without having to make too many reaches due to lack of "big" female artists that aren't high names on posters because of the way the industry works. Dacus, Miktski for instance always seem so low on lineups despite being great critically acclaimed acts.
Like the draft where Sang went all in and Bing pivoted to trying to catch him it was harder to keep up.
And lots of things went right before or after picks we made (RummaBing got a handful).
Our lineup was nearly 50% female or female-led (I think it was like 41% or something? Idk. Fozzie did the math). We placed second to last in seeding and no one in the voting was like, "oh they made an effort to put a lot of women in prime spots and on the other". Just sayin.

We have an even 50, have women in prime spots and the Other, and advanced. No one gave us bonus points for it that I noticed. Most people have decent gender balance on these, including your opponent. Seems to be the unwritten expectation.

The 1975 said after the Reading Leeds lineup came out and took so much heat that they would not play unbalanced lineups in the future. I wonder if they were going to back out of Roo..
Edit: here's what Healy said:
Take this as me signing this contract – I have agreed to some festivals already that may not adhere to this and I would never let fans down who already have tickets. But from now I will, and believe this is how male artists can be true allies.

We tried pretty hard and ended up around 30% (I think if I recount I might have missed one artist, or didn't count like Digable Planets which is a grey area) - but I feel the struggle when I realize that we slipped on female rap artists.

Ya, Bonnaroo never had a great track record on this, and jam and guitar rock are pretty dude heavy, as are the typical EDM acts they book, so tough to balance picking more women and “realism” but I’m fairly happy with how ours turned out on that front.

tЯist♡n and I made a setlist for the vision of our Ladies Night Superjam.
The idea for this started with wanting Jorja Smith doing Amy Winehouse songs backed by The Dap Kings who were her backing for Back In Black and her touring band for a bit. We also wanted Esperanza Spalding involved since she's a bass virtuoso and crazy creative. Eventually it evolved into what you see below, a superjam with some of the badass women in our lineup and star free agents covering female-led bangers:
Superjam: Ladies Night! (backed by Esperanza Spalding & The Dap Kings)
Beyonce – “Run The World (Girls)” (Jorja Smith & Esperanza Spalding) Destiny’s Child – “Soldier” (Jorja Smith, Esperanza Spalding, Kelly Rowland) Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings – “How Long Do I Have To Wait For You?” (Snoh Aalegra) Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings – “This Land Is Your Land” (Esperanza Spalding) Amy Winehouse – “Rehab” (Jorja Smith) Lilly Allen – “Smile” (Jorja Smith) Nina Simone – “Sinnerman” (Brittany Howard vocals, Caroline Polachek keys) Aretha Franklin – “Son of a Preacher Man” (Brittany Howard) Selena – “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” (Natalia Lafourcade) Gloria Estefan – “Conga” (Natalia Lafourcade) Chaka Kahn – “I’m Every Woman” (Ashanti) Whitney Houston – “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” (Ashanti) Jefferson Airplane – “Somebody To Love” (surprise guest Kim Gordon) Heart – “Barracuda” (Kim Gordon) Kate Bush – “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” (Caroline Polachek) ABBA – “Gimme Gimme Gimme! (A man after midnight)” (Caroline Polachek) Britney Spears – “Womanizer” (Rina Sawayama) Fergie – “London Bridge” (Rina Sawayama as Fergie, Eric Andre as the guy that keeps yelling "Oh Shit!") Missy Elliot – “Bomb Intro/Pass That Dutch” (surprise guest Rico Nasty) Nicky Minaj – “Stupid Hoe” (Rico Nasty) Madonna – “Vogue” (Charli XCX) Cher – “Believe” (Charli XCX) Janet Jackson – “All For You” (Nelly Furtado) Kylie Minogue – “Can’t Get You Out of my Head” (Nelly Furtado) Aaliyah – “Are You That Somebody” (Ciara) Mariah Carey – “Fantasy” (Ciara) Blondie – “One Way or Another” (Gwen Stefani) Patti Smith – “Gloria: In Excelsis Deo” (Gwen Stefani) Spice Girls – “Wannabe” (Charli XCX as Ginger Spice, Caroline Polachek as Sporty Spice, Rico Nasty as Scary Spice, Snoh Aalegra as Posh Spice, Rina Sawayama as Baby Spice) Christina Aguilera, Pink, Mya, Lil Kim – “Lady Marmalade” (Brittany Howard as Christina, Jorja Smith as Pink, Esperanza Spalding as Mya, and surprise guest Megan Thee Stallion as Lil Kim)

for me I noticed I've kind of hit certain genres harder in different drafts, last infinity I just smashed hip hop, last couple roo drafts have been real pop/electronic focused, and this draft, not really by design ended up with a lot more female guitar acts than normal
I've made a whole sheet in a draft, dunno which one anymore how big the gender gap was in all line-ups and most people were around 22-25% (though there were some 10% ones). Seems to me tho that people are paying more attention to that in more recent drafts, I think, which is positive. Improving over real life festivals isn't 'that' hard tho lol.
edit: and ours was 50/50 again.
