What's the highest billed only spanish speaking act to ever play Bonnaroo? Rodrigo y Gabrielle?
Sidenote: We booked a Spanish-speaking band on Sunday with more (Spotify) listens than a lot of people and had to shove them into an opening tent spot. I still am unhappy about it.
I went to her show at ACL, where there are a lot of young people and Spanish speakers, and it was very easy to get very close. On the other hand, I left Lizzo because it was a massive shitshow.
Lizzo played a stage 1/4 the size
Yeah and they showed video of that show on the same stage that Rosalia played with no sound and there were more people there.

Again, I was there.
I was there too waiting for Robyn
Yeah. All I'm saying is I'm not sure what the evidence is of her having blown up in the US, either at ACL or since. She has a song with Travis Scott that hasn't done the numbers on Spotify that her other big songs have done. It's a big song, sure, but it has Travis Scott on it. Without you telling us about Coachella, we wouldn't really have much reason to think she'd be scoffing at anything less than a sub spot.

Yeah, I think this is like Jaar. I totally buy it, but without the inside info, anyone billing Rosalia as a headliner would be getting obliterated on here. There's no other way to justify it.
Rosalia at 2 would get some respect from me, 3 is solid, but I think that it’s in tandem with AM and Missy that makes me question it
I mean we've gotten hammered for Maiden as an act that would draw zero interest, so I figure that pairing them with the strongest possible 2-4 makes sense. I think Rosalia as 4th on her day, without the "well she's inked a deal to headline Coachella 2022" insider nonsense or whatever is perfectly plausible.

We've also gotten simultaneously hammered for weak/overbilled subs when we have (arguably) the most expensive headliner in the game. So I feel you.
DRAGON ENERGY / whereispassionpit - I'm not going to say too much here, but this is probably my favorite overall lineup aside from our own. It does a great job at capturing the randomness that made past Bonnaroos so good and exciting. I don't love MCR as a headliner, but that has more to do with personal taste, I think. Your superjams are kind of meh to me, but whatever. A few genres seem slightly lacking but the quality is off the charts. Tried to put a schedule together for this and gave up because I basically hit conflicts at every block, which is a very good thing.
fearandparanoia / money / problem dog - I don't really like a single act in your top 3 but it's an extremely good top 3. The lineup as a whole, extremely the top portion, just screams "Bonnaroo." Really good balance of genres, some really cool "classic" acts, and the Banned Ol Opry is one of my favorite superjams. This is just an extremely plausible and well-rounded lineup.
I wouldn't have guessed the fear/money/problem dog would win this matchup for you based on these reviews!
I mean, I should probably clarify. If I was using numerical scores, they'd cruise by on realism. For my personal tastes, your lineup is probably better but as I said in my original voting post way back when, I'm trying to not just go on personal taste but on what would be popular/what other people consider good/what is objectively good despite my not enjoying it. Like if I'm making a playlist out of any lineups on here, yours is probably second with ours, but if I'm sticking to the (absolutely abysmal) criteria of this draft then they have to get the nod. FWIW, if we somehow made it to a matchup with the Bulls, I'd vote for their lineup over my own.
In my head I see Rosalia in Kylie's spot and kylie not being there as the best move (more because I think it's pushing boundaries a little while not being something I'm really into, so def more a personal opinion), but I didn't blink at Rosalia s spot there

Honestly Kylie was our goofy "we didn't get Robyn" type pop act.

you realize we’ve done 4 pure quality drafts right? The point for this one was to be more of a “simulation” where you’re selling tickets, not just throwing Sigur and Aphex as HLs etc
King T / JtR is a bit more diverse in both genre & generation. There’s not a ton in Sangdeto’s second lines each day (give or take a name or two) that makes me think I have to go, and the immediate undercard is a pretty pivotal selling point when I consider festival lineups. There’s still plenty of good stuff in there but I have to give the edge to King T / JtR for overall excitement.
DRAGON ENERGY / whereispassionpit fearandparanoia / emoney / problem dog
Neither of these lineups feel especially “Bonnaroo” but I keep getting drawn more to Dragon Pit’s lineup for interesting and diverse acts top to bottom. There’s a lot of stuff on there that isn’t the usual festival circuit fodder without being entirely unrealistic (Saturday’s a bit of a stretch). F&P / EMoney / Problem Dog’s lineup actually has more acts that I really love (Stones / Cure / Iggy / Sia) but lacks something as a full lineup.
Chandler Bing / Rummy Delicious Meatball Sub / Larry Farnsworth
Bing/Rummy vs DMS/Juggs is an interesting matchup because in some ways their lineups are opposites: Bing/Rummy have my favourite set of headliners in the game, but the undercard is full of a lot of acts that are more “oh that could be cool” than “I have to see this”. Iron Maiden, Taylor Swift, and Phish are my least favourite set of headliners in the game (maybe a passing curiosity about Taylor), but the undercard has way more going on for me than Bing/Rummy. Festivals are more about the overall strength of the lineup than the headliners for me, so point Frazzledrip.
Cap'n Jim “Mad Dog” Mattis / Cap’n Mac Jaz / Fred
Not much to say here because obviously I’m going to vote for myself, but I really think our lineup is much stronger. I also think it’s funny Jaz is calling our lineup out as unrealistic when he and Fred have freaking Nick Mason, who’s never played a US festival, and Lady Gaga, who Roo have been trying to get for years. They also have no metal and very little jam, and there’s large pockets of the lineup that do nothing for me. After Gaga, I’m pretty much indifferent to their entire Saturday save for a couple acts that would be alright.

To me, Kraftwerk and Nick Mason fill similar roles to Oysterhead on the lineup. Pretty similar groups of people are gonna say "holy fuck that's the coolest thing on there" for any of the three and basically everyone else is gonna say "who?"
But Saucerful of Secrets is also probably the least well-known by a fair margin.

Metal is part of Bonnaroo's identity. It's something that distinguishes Roo from the other big four US fests. It comes and goes, but it's part of what makes Bonnaroo cool, especially for members of this board.
Ex Eye is cool, but it's on the fringes of metal, and it's obscure. It's not Gojira or Pallbearer or Meshuggah or something.
Btw, did anyone take Sunn 0)))? Are they eligible?

I know about that, but thanks for the lecture. We also have other metal adjacent bands in our lineup.

what do you find unrealistic about my lineup? I don’t think any individual acts are too wild by themselves and the size of headliners and subs seem pretty on point to me.
Y’all should change your team name as Cap’n Maddog/Cap’n Mac/Cap’n pablo, I guess.
Haven't voted, not on anyone's team. I've argued against Florence and other stuff on their lineup. If you don't like me giving my opinion, make better arguments. Aren't yall gonna win anyway?

Sunn is eligible, they actually tour a bit harder these days, but extremely unlikely for something like this. There's zero chance they would play outdoors during the day based on their touring history. I can't find the link to back this up, but I believe when they were announced for one of these niche festivals (Form maybe?), it was billed as their first outdoor show ever.

Well, I for sure wouldn't book them during the day.

You'd put them at night in front of 50 people? Horrible fit for the band and festival both.
