Realism: a lot to digest here. Rolling Stones seem like a pipe dream, if they skipped a Nashville stadium show to do Bonnaroo, they would need to seriously adjust their situation. Jazz fest is a huge, consistent, festival and they completely changed their ticketing/scheduling to fit the stones. which probably doesn't even happen if the band didn't have such a hard on for the history of New Orleans music. the desert trip costs + that make it seem like Roo is completely out of the question. Halsey is also a huge 4, Sia at 5, big big names. this lineup costs a ton. but it moves tickets. annnd Grace/Arca. push.
*this took hours to do and i finally finished so, some of my takes might be dated alreaddy
also can't agree w Jortles enough that this is the antithesis of how realism should have been judged. a bunch of reasons why The Rolling Stones would never happen and why it feels logistically impossible for Bonnaroo, but one risque sub and one risque 4th line act makes it a push. nice.
Fwiw I'm giving you far more of a break for Jones and Arca than everyone else so maybe take this up another tree.
Their HLers feel unrealistic because of money, but they are big money makers. Your HLers aren't, and neither are the other subs you have, which makes affording super exclusive big names harder.
im just confused why you seeing Tame Beck and Lorde at completely different fests / shows in the past few years really matters at all in the context of this game? and your Portlandia superjam didn't even have Carrie, so i don't think you can even call that a Portlandia superjam. also, never saw any conversation on the eligibility of the E Street band once in this game.
it effects whether I'd want to see them again? Tame will be playing the exact same show I saw last October. Which was only marginally different than their show in 2016. Nothing Beck has done since 2018 has me excited to see him again. Same w Lorde in 17, nothing new, not really a huge fan, so it's not big for me.
The portlandia thing was mostly a joke, but I definitely like their SJ more regardless.
It was in the thread and then I quoted it after your poster drop.
yes i understand that, but we're supposed to be more focused on what is best for Bonnaroo, not just our own personal tastes.
and uh, Tame put out a full album in february. it would not be the same show i promise you.

ah yes, Bruce Springsteen who constantly sells out multiple nights of baseball stadiums all over the country, and Tame who sold out the fest this most recent year, are not money makers. how could i forget.
don't think you're really helping your case that MBV appeals to zoomers by comparing them to NMH lmao
What? There's a good group of zoomers that adore them
There's people in every generation that like every type of music. I don't think "appealing to zoomers" means appealing to a few music nerd zoomers. The average bonnaroo zoomer wouldn't care about MBV.

I know tame Impala put out an album. I didn't care for it. It would be a change of 2 new songs to 7 new songs that I don't care for with the same production. Elephant would still be the best part, apocalypse dream still 2nd best.
Also Gorillaz is a huge zoomer get, not sure where you guys are getting the idea that they don't appeal to zoomers. We grew up on Feel Good Inc.
Didn't Demon Days come out in like 2005? And then you say Zoomers would come out for NMH...I'm not one of the people here tryna pick Realism Fights or anything, but this just doesn't add up, bb Theo.
Turn from Millennial to Zoomer is around 1995, right? I just don't think many Zoomers were listening to The Gorillaz in elementary school and NMH whilst in their diapers?
To say that a small minority of Zoomers with good taste listen to those bands long after release of their hit music, that's fine and justifiable, sure. But again, would think it is a SMALL minority, and doesn't really suffice to say they "grew up on" music released in late 1990s or first 5 years of the 21st century.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

oh I forgot that tame did it all on their own my bad.
It's a bracket. Which again, is why all this math is stupid. Your top 6 compared to their top 6 gets floored in ticket sales. It's just not close to me.

he's like 16 maybe we should just agree with him on stuff like this
Most of Sangdeto’s undercard is fine for realism, but they lose a lot of realism points for having both RATM & Metallica. Quality-wise, there’s a lot of stuff on here that I like, but nothing that screams “I have to go to this.”
Katy Perry / Slack strikes me as a very ‘fun’ festival. There is a good bit on here that I don’t care for, but the sum of its parts is enough that I might go.

gocatsnu / Dan Bobby B King T / JamesTheRam
BobCats have a great one-two punch on the headliners but lose me on the overall. King James is more consistent top to bottom, but loses some realism points on billing. There’s stretches, and then there’s 50 Cent & Fatboy Slim as 8th & 10th on their day alone.

DRAGON ENERGY / whereispassionpit Todd / Jake Jortles
TBH neither of these lineups are totally my taste but they each have some interesting morsels in there. Dolly Parton & Mary J. Blige would be great. I don’t really care for Frank Ocean and Neil is a bit ‘been there, done that’. Points off realism for Aphex Twin.
I’d love to see Rihanna, Flume & Devo. Saturday at the Dragon Pit is a bit of a wash for me, but the Ladies’ Night superjam sounds fun. Sunday is right up my alley though. I’d pay good money for a day ticket to that.

Pepe Silvia / Nathan Fielder fearandparanoia / money / problem dog
NGL, for a lineup that includes several of the best acts I’ve ever seen (Stones, The Cure, Iggy Pop, Sia), I should love F&P / eMoney / problemdog's lineup more than I do. It just lacks a certain je ne sais quoi, to get a li’l Frenchy on ya. Two legacy rock bands seems a little unlikely for Roo these days.
Pepe & Nate Fielder’s lineup is much more consistent for me, but it basically feels like a Coachella lineup masquerading as a Bonnaroo lineup. Points off realism for Grace Jones. On the whole, I would have a blast at this festival.

Chandler Bing / Rummy VieuxCareen / cdevaney
BingRummy has the three strongest headliners in the game, but there’s a steep drop-off after that IMO. Most of the mid-tier names don’t really do much for me. There’s some nice gems in the undercard, but the sum total of them feels a little bit hipper / less accessible than Bonnaroo would ever book.
CDeVieux is pretty solid top to bottom. They start to lose me a bit around Marshmello / Paramore but make a nice recovery after that. Either Depeche Mode or Massive Attack would be a bit of a stretch, but both on the same night is just not happening in any lifetime.

Theo / Teddy Flair Delicious Meatball Sub / Larry Farnsworth
I’m that person who doesn’t get the Beyonce obsession at all. It’s elevator music to me. That said, it’d be very on-brand for Bonnaroo to book one headliner that excites me (Stevie), one that’d be cool (Foos), and one I’d check out for like 20 minutes before finding something better to do (Bey). Some points off realism for King Crimson & Guided By Voices. Quality is buoyed by some undercard gems.
Juggs & Sandwich’s headliners are… not good. I’ll give credit for trying something different, but maybe there’s a reason it’s different? Missy, Kylie, Sigur Ros and Arctic Monkeys are the best things going on here IMO. TV on the Radio haven’t been billed that low since like 2006. They’re billed 14th on Saturday, which is where they were billed overall in ’09, so… yeah. The J Dilla superjam would be excellent, albeit a little too stacked. Some nice electronica peppered throughout.

Capn Jim “Mad Dog” Mattis / Cap’n Mac Silver Surfer / true vine
Obviously I’m somewhat biased here but we have a much better lineup for my tastes (makes sense, since I drafted acts I like). Friday has some good things going on but there’s very little for me all day Saturday and up until PTM > Roger on Sunday. Lineups are mostly realistic. I’ll admit we have a couple stretches, but nothing above par for the game.

Monie / Fozzie Bear Jaz / Fred
Jaz & Fred is another festival that sandwiches a weak Saturday between a strong Friday & Sunday. I’d love to see Gaga, but there’s not much for me in the Saturday undercard I’d want to see that I haven’t had several chances to see already. Each day is slightly too stacked IMO - I could see it working in a Lolla setup with opposing headliners, but this is the Bonnaroo draft. Sunday’s undercard is deep; I like what they’ve done here. Realism points deducted for Nick Mason as it doesn’t appear they’ve done any US festivals.
Monie and Fozzie have one of my favourite Thursdays, and that Jay-Z / Diana Ross top line on Saturday would be a dream. I don’t much care for Dua Lipa & Skrillex (might check out Dua) but that second line on Friday is an amazing run. There’s a couple stretches here like Fever Ray & Mr Bungle, but nothing too egregious. Sunday strikes a good balance of laid back, “wind down the weekend” acts peppered with enough upbeat acts to keep me dancing.

im not gonna tell you how to feel about Tame man if you dont care for em that's fine, it just seems really silly to negatively judge a show that is yet to debut anywhere yet.

they played shows this year...
I've seen tame Impala 3 times. I care for em. I'm perfectly capable of judging them objectively.

I stand by my Gorillaz stance. I can play feel good inc for almost any group of zoomers and they either already love it or vibe with it.
Backtracking on MBV stance. The fantano-core zoomers do love them but there isn't enough of them to make a dent in ticket sales and through personal interaction they don't feel like the type to head to fests anyways.

Did you just try to tell a Zoomer what is and isn't popular amongst Zoomers?
FWIW, bands like Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails were massive when I was in high school, even though we were all slightly too young to have been listening at their peaks. It's almost like people can appreciate things from before their time...
