There’s a rumor going around that Voodoo will be cancelled due to a “lack of available talent”. Kind of a bummer that all these fests happening at the same time might push them out

doesn't make sense, lack of available talent never stopped voodoo in the past.

Why don't they just book DaBaby and Megan Thee Stallion
Should be deciding this week if we will try to make this. We would be weekend 1. Most of the late nights I would want to see are weekend 2 though so far. The Dead Feat and Lettuce shows interest me some.

Not even 10% of the after shows or overnights have been announced. There will be shit. Jazz Fest Grids isn’t up yet, but that will be a good source. Then Satchmo Concert Line is another one. It’s all sparse right now.

The What podcast from nola just tweeted that the festival isn't happening as of now due to issues between the city and live nation/c3.

Random dispute but that fucking blows.
Whatever issues Voodoo is having are likely the same ones preventing Jazz fest from announcing a line up. Seems like NOLA is still in a phased reopening.

Buku is announcing their "reimagined" Buku Project Planet B tomorrow. They are Goldenvoice/AEG (AEG Worldwide promotes/books for Jazz Fest). I don't know if the smaller footprint for this fall's Buku got them the pass or if it's unrelated to the difficulties the other festivals are having with the city.

Jazz Fest is the biggest fest in town and with 2 weekends and 12 stages, probably books the most bands per day of any event. So unlike Buku (light), Or any one weekend fest they have more to tighten up. Probably takes some pressure off of them to let Buku & Voodoo announce to give them all some space. I would expect a talent announcement soon.
I hear it’s a mix of 2020 bands & some swap outs.
I can’t wait to be at a fall Jazz Fest (and night shows at Tipitina’s)
Since Voodoo announced they were deferring until 2022, it does make me a tiny bit nervous. I got my Buku lite tickets today. Voodoo was already on a rollover scenario where they comped us $50 in food or merchandise in exchange for the rollover making the tickets $49 for the 3 day GA pass. I’m not really sure what else they are going to offer, but they said they’d have emails out within 24 hours. I’ll report back on that. I understand the city being in a difficult position with the crime surge. Butwhen they start stepping on my toes, I’ll vote against everyone.
I’m assuming Jazz Fest is still going to happen in some form. I don’t expect them to consolidate down to one weekend like it was reported that the city asked them to. I’m hopeful they can work things out. Someone did say the Eagles have a big hole in their schedule. I like Joe Walsh, but otherwise the Eagles don’t really do anything for me. So far all 4 of my night shows are at The Joy. Joy was a 10 minute streetcar ride for 1.25 to my old house. I could see us ending up at Tip’s for a 2am show. Not sure where I’ll be living when I move back as I’ve got to search. Keep us posted if you hear anything good.

I suspect JF happens in a slightly smaller way, but still two wknds. That and EMF are the only two festivals the mayor ever talks about. She's going to cater to those shows. Look at the NOJHF board - rich donors, judges, politicians... Come on.

You might have already had this ahead of time, but they did release several of their shows for Jazz Fest weeks today. For anyone who didn't see it:
10/7 (Th) - Anders Osborne 10/8 (Fr) - Turkuaz (early show); Boyfriend featuring members of Revivalists (late show) 10/9 (Sa) - Galactic (early show); Late show ???? 10/10 (Su)- The Word (Medeski, Randolph, Dickinson Brothers, RayRay Hollowman) 10/12 (Tu)- Dragon Smoke (Stanton Moore, Ivan Neville, Robert Mercurio, Eric Lindell) 10/14 (Th)- St. Paul & the Broken Bones 10/15 (Fr)- St. Paul & the Broken Bones (early show); The M&M's (Medeski, Stanton Moore, Papa Mali, Robert Mercurio) 10/16 (Sa)- Galactic (early show); Greyboy Allstars (late show) 10/17 (Su)- Dumpstaphunk
Not sure if/when I'm getting over there those weekends, but decent if expected shows. Probably will be a lot of sit-ins.
------- Glad to see Gojira sold out. I wasn't going to be able to make it - but fuck yeah for that.
Lineup should be out hopefully this hour. I’m getting my car serviced, but when I get back to a laptop I’ll update the OP with the lineup poster and lineup video.
Meanwhile WSP did announce they were doing a 3 night Halloween run at UNO.
