Daze typically doesn't have many artists play back-to-back years, other than small/medium sized bands that are really tight with Phil. I think the only exception to that is King Gizzard, who played Daze back-to-back in 2017-2018.

I think it helped that Gizz put out like five albums between those dates haha.

They'll probably put 2 more out before the festival lol
So do we know of any officially in besides Gizz and Kikagaku? I'm trying to convince my friends to buy the pre-sale.
Tell em that the $99 is less than a single day ticket was last year. And are they really gonna be happy to fork over $350 in May cause they waited for the initial batch of names? If they dont like the lineup, sell it.
Yeah, I mean this is a total f*cking no-brainer. There's bound to be at least a couple handful of acts/bands that anybody that knows Daze, or likes the genres of music featured at Daze, will totally dig and be stoked about. And there is like zero risk since tix (unbelievably) are still being sold for just $99.
Don't hesitate, just get 'em. And if you can't go later on, sell the tix.

Plus they'd make a profit without being an asshole and selling above whatever face value ends up being. It's $99, it's nothing!

2016, too. They were a 3-peat!
Oh yes, I had forgotten they were added at the last second! I believe they were one of the last ones put in, after Suicide left the lineup due to Alan Vega's death.
What's capacity at this thing? Or how many tickets usually sell? Just curious
I would guess with single-day sales the Tame Impala and My Bloody Valentine days had around 12k people? Even then it didn’t sell out. The venue is pretty big so I have no idea what capacity would be.

My guess would be they haven't had any more than 15,000 people per day at Lake Perris, and like Passion said, that was in 2018 when Impala was there. From various accounts, it was less attended in 2019, and then of course last year with the limited stage & capacity format, it was probably no more than 2-3K peeps per day.

They are incredibly opaque about this, but I remember reading somewhere that Perris capacity was more in the 8-9k range.
Actually, from an LA Times review of 2021: "Given the issues facing the concert industry, including COVID-19 (Desert Daze, like most everything else, was canceled in 2020) and the recent tragedy at Astroworld, the fact that the festival, held Friday through Sunday in Lake Perris, Calif., reduced its capacity this year from 5,000 fans per day to roughly 2,000 felt like a welcome relief."

Hmmm IDK. There definitely seemed to be much more than that in 2018. I can't speak for 2019, the only year I missed since I started going in 2014...But you are correct, I've seen plenty of different official/semi-official numbers from articles and people over the years for Daze. Both for Lake Perris, and for the Institute of Mentalphysics (how I do miss that unique venue!).

Agree, 5k sounds low--more like capacity back at the Institute. But, I still think Perris is under 10k.
Its gotta be about 15k. Considering that costs are going to end up being higher this year there will have to be more tickets out there. Their whole hype of it being super limited last year didnt really pan out how they expected. I think I remember them trying to get votes for the Pollstar awards on fests smaller than 25k in cap.
Primal Scream has never played and would be welcomed, as would the return of Slowdive.. I didn't know they were back in the studio! Hopefully they have a new album ready to go by the end of '22.
I'll add them plus Levitation Room and Wild Wild Wets to the top post.

Still think Queens Of The Stone Age could be a possible headliner for this since they're active in the summer and Josh Homme has played the festival with Eagles Of Death Metal

I was thinking Kyuss reunion since all members seem open to playing together again but Homme's legal issues might be a barrier.

They'll be playing at Prima Barcelona, so very possible that they'll be touring.

QOTSA has what, like a handful of dates this summer? As I'm sure some of u know, nothing would make be happier than having Queens or by some miracle Kyuss play Daze. But the longer shit drags out with Homme's legal troubles, the less likely I see them playing additional dates this summer/fall. But yeah, I'll add them to the list...Maybe we can wish it into existence, along with Portishead.

Well they only have Mad Cool booked. They got dropped from a couple festivals, most likely due to the legal stuff Josh has going on. Guess its a matter of how much people care about that sort of thing here.
