anyone else find it interesting how we're throwing around so many electronic/dance names this year? chem bros, jamie xx, four tet, bonobo, floating points, etc. there's basically no precedence for daze booking this stuff but seems like a lot of people would be down for it. flying lotus is the closest thing i can think of but still not quite dance music like these other artists typically play.
If DD got Aphex Twin nobody would think it was out of the ordinary. So yeah, RDJ is coming to Perris.

They followed a bunch of new accounts on Instagram, including but not limited to:
- Juan Alderete of The Mars Volta - Lou Barlow of Dinosaur Jr - Sons of Kemet (they already followed The Smile 😏) - Kyp Malone of TV On The Radio - Mat Mitchell of Puscifer - Susie Cave, fashion designer and wife of Nick Cave - Mariqueen Maandig of How To Destroy Ángels and wife of Trent Reznor - The Pixies + Paz Lenchantin of The Pixies - The drummers of Tame Impala and King Gizzard

rjd2 was a headliner the first year of the fest I'm pretty sure

RJD2 played in 2015, the third year the fest was in Mecca, along with Warpaint and Failure.
To the bigger point, Daze has had some electronic artists over the years. But of course, no super big/popular acts on the level of Chem Bros, Jamie XX, etc.

its some misdirection. we now know the team reads the comments section. hi phil.
what do you think it took for coachella to get aphex twin? or when he randomly played that texas fest in 2016? i can't imagine the kind of offers he's turned down over the years but if DD is anywhere near being able to make a reasonable pitch, i hope phil gives it a shot every year.
i've seen aphex mentioned in past years as wishlist act, but i just mean i think this is the first year i've seen people ask for all these electronic (and really more dance oriented electronic) acts. getting chemical brothers to headline along with booking other names like jamie xx and nic jaar could help grow the fest by introducing it to a new crowd. maybe need a couple more acts to really move the needle with all the other fest competition in CA.
Day for Night in Houston paid a mil for him which hurt other festivals trying to book him since it set a precedent.

Probably doing this one solo and with gas prices I don't think I want to drive down 18hrs from Seattle. Is flying into LA and renting a car there the move?

Ontario is closer and would probably be the better airport. Are you camping? If so, might be able to skip the rental car and pay for an expensive Uber there and back to avoid the cost of the rental car and vehicle pass.
Fontaines DC out based on tour dates just announced. Not that they were very likely.
I'd enjoy a Mars Volta set for suuuuure. Can you imagine?
fontaines been out since they got announced for Primavera. At this point theres one act thats getting around the radius clause and that number isnt likely to go that much higher.
they do need to drop this like now cause they can torpedo Primavera LA even more just by having Bjork and Tame Impala on the poster.

They can do the thing where they have a few acts blacked out until later, I don't give a shit at this point. Gimme something DD, please
Nice! I got tickets to the Wiltern show when black midi announced their dates and had been hoping BCNR would be the "very special guests." Lack of DD lineup aside, this is fantastic news.
What does new BCNR sound like? I don’t think I’ve heard anything yet.
Just saw them at Primavera. The three words I'd use to describe are theatrical, emotional, and light. A lot of the songs were very quiet with some nice crescendos. I enjoyed the fact that the crowd knew how to be quiet for the quiet moments. Felt like a better show to see at a venue than an outdoor festival though.

There are a couple vids up on YT of their recent warm-up shows. Seems like a few of them are sharing the singing duties now and they are exploring new sounds. So far I've liked what I've heard.
