The gates opened late because one of the companies building the ada stages didn't show, and neither did one of the fence companies. Also, it looks like the atms didn't show up. I asked at the front and they said "this is a cashless fest there won't be any" lol
Anyway today was amazing.
Oh god. And my ass it was cashless. All the vendors were taking cash. Funny thing was the text receipt from merch.
King Gizz was wild. Thought the railing was gonna break up front.

Yesterday was so good! Only minor complaint was the volume at the beach stage. Could barely hear Cortex and the sound bleed from the moon stage kinda sucked - hope they crank it up a bit today.
Charlotte Adigery was a fucking party, danced my ass off for their whole set. Gizz also ruled - Stu set the bar, every headliner has to get in the lake now.
Can't wait to give Kikagaku a proper send off tonight!

They need to turn the main stage DOWN I think. No reason for it to be that loud. Sky Ferreira was hard to be at even with ear protection. There was sound bleed at every Beach Stage set I saw yesterday.
Agree on the Beach Stage sound. It was hard to hear Cortex unless you really pushed up close.
Ride share out was a nightmare, though. Between bad cell service and drivers cancelling, it took well over an hour to get a car. I had to call the driver and beg her not to cancel and promise a big tip. We’re driving in today.

Was the lot ok to get in and out of when the car finally arrived? Getting dropped off today so just curious.
But yeah, during Perfume Genius you totally just heard Gizz going. I dont know why they dont turn beach up a bit and main stage down a smidge. Not like its a million people watching . Although early on the subwoofers at all the stages werent even turned on and everything sounded thin which was weird.
Super easy getting in on Thursday, pretty sure we were some of the first car campers here. They posted us between Owl & Deer set up across from the General Store. First night was rough being that close to the Outer Space stage. We got up early yesterday and moved further out in this area, much better spot. Nice to meet Tewentytwo and kick it a couple times so far. Gizzard was shredding last night. Other than the blisters on my toes that I get ay every damn festival, it's been a good weekend thus far. I'm wearing my JAZZ IS DEAD shirt today give a holler if you see me.

Man, ADA is such a let down. But at least it was the company not showing up and not just Desert Daze skimping on the platform.
I only made it until Men I Trust and had to get a shuttle back to camp because my back was shot. Everything I saw was great but the Beach stage was terrible. I'm shuffling my schedule to prioritize acts on other states.

Had a blast yesterday. First time going to this fest so took a while to get a lay of the land. I Didn’t realize how small this festival is. Gizz, babe rainbow, Chicano Batman, and clipping. were the highlights for me. We were a little annoyed that we had to go through the same search line as the campers just to get our wristbands but it went relatively fast. Getting out after gizz was a breeze. Glad we splurged for preferred parking. Today I’ll be wearing a shirt that says “I’m Trevor”. Wife wearing a shirt that says “fuck Trevor”

On the way in, our driver had to show security proof that he was Lyft/Uber and they moved a pylon to let him turn in to lot 11, where the pickup/drop off is. On the way out, there was no checkpoints or traffic guides. Our driver was a little unsure which way to go but figured it out.

Yeah, so we got waved in through the first couple spots and then when it was at lot 11 the dude there said "good luck, theres no place to park". Like it was a foreign idea that somebody would legit be getting a regular ride and not using rideshare. Lots seemed easy enough. Now to beat the traffic out tonight.
Soul Glo was a dust storm and a half. Its gonna be like that most of today it seems.
Gates again opened not on time but security was still a breeze.
Cheese Grating dude at Viagra Boys. What in the actual fuck.
can you explain this one a little more
There was a dude with a block of cheese and a grater. He was in the crowd and grating it on people's heads. It was wild.
The Armed literally destroyed the beach stage. Bummer they had to cut it short. Probably gonna go down as the best set nobody saw. The security guards said they were totally blown away and random people afterwards were just all wow.
Tame Impala sounded perfect of course. Large crowd and despite today being more attended it didnt feel that crazy overall.
Slift during the sunset last night was insanely good, then into Mildlife after them was a nice way to start the night. Really liked seeing two of my favorite discoveries this year back to back. Probably spending most of the day in the lake today.

I had a much better day 2! Taking the ada shuttle from south quail allowed me to get around so much easier instead of starting my day already in rough shape. ADA platforms were up for moon stage which was a giant relief!
Tame was great! Thought there would be an encore though. Mild life was also really good but unless you're up front you still can't hear anything at the Beach so I bailed after the 3rd song and caught Viagra Boys. I've always dismissed them based on the name and the little that I've listened to but they are much better live!
Shame was a great way to start my day and catching the last half of Slift was a little bonus. I also enjoyed Nilufer Yanya. I skipped her the last few times because of conflicts. Frankie and the Witch Fingers were as good as always.
And then Kikagaku Moyo.... So good. I wanted to split their set with Nation of Language but I knew it would be a let down because of the issues at Beach. Anyone catch their set? I knew I'd have a better time seeing a full set from Kikagaku Moyo and I think it worked out ok.
Decided to camp at Moon ada until tame to make sure I had a seat. Listened to Shannon and The Clams from a distance and it sounded like a fun set.

Interesting, I absolutely love the beach stage, even with the sound bleed. My favorite sets of the weekend were at all sanctuary and beach. Frankie crushed as usual on block though
So far my top sets were Charlotte, perfume genius, clipping (what I saw), Nation of language and Frankie. Shame was good, so was Slift. Tame was great but I feel like they could have given us 1 or 2 more songs, but I guess everyone having to relearn half that album was a pain. Missed most of gizz since I've got red rocks tickets, but saw the pilgrimage to the beach. The half of moyo that I saw was great
Only set I didn't like was sky. She was late, the sound was terrible, and I just wasn't impressed.

ADA at the beach is like being in timeout. I feel like I'm being punished with everyone around me having a good time while I stare at their backsides and stand up for a few minutes here and there to see what's happening on stage. I would like the beach a lot better if there was a proper ADA and maybe even putting it on the other side of the soundboard. A lot of acts I really wanted to see were there but I can't stand long enough to enjoy a set.
But now that Desert Daze is almost over and Coachella is like 6 months away I can finally consider getting surgery so that next year I'll (hopefully) be able to enjoy the beach properly!
Slift and Mildlife were my favorites yesterday. Both were so good!
We wanted to see the Armed but they still hadn’t started like 20 minutes after their set time and there was hardly anyone there so we bailed for Shannon.
Could only do Saturday due to other commitments, but the run of BC, NR > Shame (partial) > Frankie & the Witch Fingers > Nilüfer Yanya > Seun Kuti > Viagra Boys > Kikagaku Moyo > The Armed > Tame Impala was amazing (except Nilufer which I found boring). Great layout/setup/visuals, easy in and out, and good vibes overall. Given a good lineup, I would go back again.

Whoops....
Worth the wait. Beach just had so many delays last night it was a bummer. They needed a couple more stage crew to get things going faster I think.

I heard nilifer from Slift and it didn't sound good so I didn't bother
I may do VIP again... It's MUCH better than previous years... But they'll probably scale it back again so we'll see
