well at least Frank didn’t go full Jack White levels of pretentious and force every fan to lock their phone in a bag before the show
I’ve had to do that at almost every comedy show I’ve been too since 2018-19 and a handful of concerts including St. Vincent a few years back. I don’t see the problem with it if it’s what the artist wants.
Has Jack ever done that at a festival? Don't think you could if you wanted to.
NMH asked in 2014 to not have phones out for their set. Signage was all over the outdoor. Didn’t see anyone forcibly removed or anything but we did see Lana fans asked to put them away and they obliged out by the soundboard where we were located. Tool did the same thing for a tour as well.

Prince did the same thing in 2008 and security was making people put cameras down or taking them
Isn’t artists making people take down performance videos kind of normal? Why is this even news?
Misfits have been doing copyright strikes since the reunion. They weren’t the first to do so. I honestly kind of like it. Go to the show, experience it. If you weren’t there then sorry.

anyway now that we're one week out here's my top ten
Underworld Bjork Gorillaz boygenius jai paul chemical brothers alex g dinner party nia archives romy
other stuff i really liked was snail mail, the breeders, scowl, MUNA. i saw lots of other stuff and it was also very good - don't think i saw a bad set, though i'm probably underrating the comet is coming because it was in the blazing sun. only thing i was disappointed in was el michels affair, and they were still good but just not what I was hoping for at the time. biggest 'surprise' for me was bjork - i am in no way a big bjork fan, but every single thing about that show blew me away.
wild that this festival and this festival alone have figured it out in a way that none of the other US fests have.

oh also within the span of about 30 minutes at chemical brothers a group of kids thought i was a cop and then a group of bros asked me if i had my keys on me so they could do bumps, so im not sure what to think

I just remembered Rosalía covered Hero by Enrique Iglesias that was such an insane choice lol
EDIT: Thinking about it I guess he was probably the biggest star from Spain when she was growing. Still she should have just played Catalina with Xavi/Iniesta highlights in the background, would have been very powerful.

back at work after W2 last weekend. had a great time again. weather was great. everything was great. closing sunday night with blink and PHM was really an icing on the cake. holy shit that was awesome. we got there before blink started and got a spot near where PHM was going to play and were about 10 rows deep at the most. we were so close and it was so fun. everyone around us was having the time of their lives. it's a moment i will never forget. how fucking cool
low point was leaving prydz before the lasers came out. we had a good spot for that one too but my group wasn't feeling the music which i totally get so it was fine. saw the first half hour or so and the visuals were cool for sure. i've seen it enough online that it wasn't mind blowing but still really cool to see.
skipped the last 50+ pages of the thread, but thank you frank ocean for blowing it
edit: that metro boomin set was a disaster holy shit. we were trying to walk from the mojave/do lab side and it basically came to a stop at the corner of the beer garden. people couldn't fit through and there were so many people. a bunch of people including myself jumped the fence to get into the beer garden to get out of the crowd. had to walk all the way back to the bars before feeling like we made it out of the crowd. that was a cluster fuck
I’d sacrifice every other festival this year for one more Saturday 2023 @ Coachella. Fucking epic.
Seriously. I'm still a little salty about the scheduling that day. I went both weekends this year because the lineup was so incredible but on Saturday there is a full third sequence of acts that I desperately wanted to see but had no opportunity to catch any of either weekend. I just need one more full run through that night.
I’d sacrifice every other festival this year for one more Saturday 2023 @ Coachella. Fucking epic.
My second choice set of acts for Saturday night (and I watched them all on the livestream W1) could have been in contention for my favorite night at Coachella, ever. An embarrassment of riches. And then throwing Jai Paul from Sunday on Saturday too, what the hell.

I was super pissed about Jai Paul moving from Sunday to Saturday when the W1 set times came out, but given the way W2 wound up I was more okay with it. He would've pretty much had to conflict with Bjork, and that would've been frustrating as well (for me, at least).
With those W1 times though, I couldn't believe they didn't just slot him in during the 90 mins between Bjork and Frank.
