If The Cure are on the line up, I go both nights regardless of undercard. If not, it’s gonna take a hell of an undercard if New Order’s headlining - especially after a particularly okay/alright/just fine EchoATBM set last fall.
Kind of funny that GV has a festival Just Like Heaven and yet they may have The Cure headline a different festival.
especially since Just like Heaven debuted the same year of Pasadena Daydream. Just seemed like a missed opportunity haha
I always thought they’d get into some trademark infringement entanglement if they called it Just like Heaven and booked The Cure. It’ll seem more like a Cure fest instead of a fest rotating different acts.

hindsight being what it is with JLH moving to Pasadena, they could have swapped names and had Daydream be the annual festival name.

Same boat - I was out of town for the New Order/PSB show at the Bowl, but friends told me PSB blew them out of the water (not surprising to me, I've seen NO several times and the shows were of varying quality), whereas The Cure always show up. Hell, I even got a preview of their post-Simon era when his son had to fill in at ACL 2019, and they still sounded just as good as they did with Simon.
How long was The Cure’s set time at Pasadena Daydream? I can’t see them accepting a 60-70 min set at Cruel World if this year is anything similar to the next edition. Moz and Bauhaus topped off at a little over an hour. This would be especially more complicated if they are promoting that new album (they are already performing new songs off of it in Europe).

2 hours and 15. Riot Fest only gave them 90 mins right. So there can be some middle ground I bet. Besides, if they are doing the rotating stage thing there is less turn around time overall in the day. Figure they would put a 20 mins break before they would hit the stage but thats it.

The Cure had a 2 hour and 15 minute set at Riotfest

The Cure played Riot in 2014 when they had 3 locations. Toronto only got 1:45, but Chicago got 2:15 and they played 2:30 in Denver. That Toronto set is definitely an outlier for them, doubt they would accept much less especially while promoting new material. Pasadena Daydream was well attended, too, I think another GV/Cure one off is more likely than Cruel World.
I remember seeing The Cure at ACL in 2013 where the festival cut the PA during Boys Don’t Cry but Robert Smith & Co. finished the song anyways.
That was a hell of a set, assuming we're talking the same weekend. It started light raining mid-set and Robert just started smiling and it was bliss for a moment
then as soon as they ended the sky fell out and it started pouring and I got soaked getting back and they cancelled the next day of the fest. But at least it mostly held through that Cure set

Yup! Weekend 2. I won a contest and got flown out all expenses paid. Bummer Sunday got canceled with Atoms For Peace, Kendrick, and Tame Impala. On the bright side, me and Ms. Dummy had a blast bouncing around Austin in the rain.

Its going to be extremely hard for this fest to top Bauhaus for me personally
Wish they’d book Bauhaus again for this year, especially after the show at the Greek got canceled.
Hope Peter Murphy’s doing alright in rehab. I came across this YouTube video of him doing Bela with Trent Reznor and TV on the Radio back in 2006 and, holy shit, it’s incredible. Look it up.
Anyways, could Cruel World book Blur and Pulp? Or is that maybe more TANP?

I think it's sadly more likely that Blur and Pulp don't make it across the pond this time

I wouldn't have expected Blur or Pulp ar Cruel World to begin with. I don't even know if they are a good fit for Picnic either. I just hope they play somewhere.

Betting on Blur hopping over for a NY/LA combo. Damon loves performing in the states and they have shown a lot of interest in playing multiple countries unlike Pulp. I’d expect the late fall at the earliest.
