Anyone have an estimated budget for how much this thing would cost/has cost in the past? Trying to make this happen with some friends probably next year, just want an idea of what to plan for. You can DM me too if you don't wanna share the numbers on here

It really depends on how much you’re doing and how many people are splitting the hotel/Airbnb. Most of the cost is airfare but once you’re there it’s way cheaper.
I finally decided to fly out of Richmond and airfare was $1.2k. My portion of the hotel will be like $600 give or take. Blind presale tickets were $375 (VIP but GA was like $225, I think). So like $2k plus spending for the week.
One perk for you is you’ll be flying from Chicago and not back-ass Richmond. My layover is in Chicago (Whaddup!). So stands to reason it’ll be cheaper for you. I’d advise to start looking as soon as the festival is over for the next year for lodging. Plenty of places that will hold rooms with no prepayment.
Food, drink, and transportation is relatively cheap in the city. I’ve budgeted $600 for the week unless I go swanky to the aforementioned restaurant for a meal.
Long story short, I budgeted $2.6k but you can do it cheaper than that.

Here’s my short list for vacationing without ever visiting there before:
- Sagrada Família - Park Güell - Barcelona City History Museum / Gothic Quarter - Catedral de Barcelona / The World Begins With Every Kiss Mural - La Ramblas/La Boqueria - Casa Batlló - Casa Milà - Casa Vicens - Santa Maria del Mar
- Picasso Museum
- Plaça de Catalunya - Parc de la Ciutadella - Parc del Laberint d'Horta
When I’m looking for gaudy beach life, I go no further than Barceloneta. I’m not going to lie to you it’s a trap. Fully touristy but dear god, so much fun to order a drink and people watch.
My favorite view of the city is from Montjuïc. Before you hike up it, I’d suggest paying for the cable car that runs you to the top and back again.
I'm gonna stan for Placa d'Espanya and Parc de Monjuic again real quick and repost some photos from last year's recap. I found it equally as stunning as Sagrada Familia, and it's a public area, so it's free and there's no line or anything. I didn't plan on going to it but kept passing by it in cabs and on night buses and it looked so crazy I decided to go back on foot one day before a ciutat show. Unfortunately, because I got COVID, I didn't get to go back a second time in the evening on Sunday to see the fountain and light show that runs all the way down this street, so I hope I can catch that this year. And I haven't seen the museum or the other side of the hill. So much to do and so little time.
Don't take the cable car, dudes. There's escalators:
But yeah, a lot of bus lines run by it so there's a decent chance you'll be passing by anyway. You'll hit a lot of plazas just wandering around. I came across Catalunya and the Arc completely by accident. Metro stations are usually nearby, so you'll just see a lot of these things on the way to other things. It's like a city in a fucking Star Wars movie. Really hoping to see Parc Guell this time. Not planning to return to SF until it's completed.
And oh yeah, I listened to Magenta Mountain while walking up Montjuic lol
My favorite church there is Santa Maria del Mar. It was built in the 1400’s and has some of the highest arches I’ve ever seen. Incredible overwhelming feeling. As a first timer though, Sagrada Familia is a must. It’s iconic and probably one of the first things (if not the first thing) you think of when thinking about Barcelona. It’s gonna be finished in 2024, if I remember right.
Either I didn’t see escalators at Montjuïc or they weren’t there the last time I was. I’m still behind taking cable cars though for the simple reason nothing says “IFLY!!” than figuring out if you you’re gonna live or die.
It’s kinda a PITA to get there but Parc del Laberint d'Horta is worth it.
the sagrada familia, one of the most recognized icons in and out of the architectural world, is expected to be completed by 2026 in time for antonio gaudi’s 100th anniversary after his death. with the advent of new 3D visualization technologies in the last years the foundation is able to create what the esteemed structure will finally look like upon its completion with the help of a helicopter flying around the cathedral. the following video shows the completed structure but the organization has also released a series of clips highlighting each of the upcoming elements to be finished in the coming years. after over a century and a half of construction, we can at least get a sense for how the project will look in only 13 short years.
News: the completion of Art Nouveau architect Antoni Gaudí's Sagrada Família basilica in Barcelona is simulated in this movie released to show the final stages of construction anticipated before 2026, 100 years after the death of the architect (+ movie).
Finally made it through the entire list of names I didn’t know or names I knew but still needed to check out. Gotta say Brutalismus 3000 tops that list for me.
There's no doubt that Coachella beat Prima's ass this year in the lineup department.
At this point Blur would be the only thing keeping me from maybe making the switch to Coachella. Thankfully I did see them in 2013 and 2015 and who knows maybe they do an NYC show later in the year.
Can’t seem to locate an old schedule anywhere so apologies for the dumb question but is is feasible to go to the F1 race and not miss any of the festival?
